The Queens funeral

This is a real good guide for all the timings for tomorrow - www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60617519

The bit at the end with the Lord Chamberlain will be the hardest to watch I think, signaling the end of his service to her, as will the act of separating her from her crown.

I know everyone isn't a royalist but today will be such a sad occasion.

😁 we were just saying the same thing, and the weird sentence structures. You would really need to rehearse!

Yesterday someone had forgotten to allocate the reading and I was given the nod to ad lib it, not easy at all, even if you're familiar with that sort of language! She did very well I thought.

I have a strange feeling a lot of these posters criticising Meghan during the Queens funeral are just trolls who don’t have a life.

If that was aimed at me I wasn’t having a dig at Meghan at all when I wondered if she’d had to go shopping for black clothes in a hurry. I was genuinely wondering and felt sorry for her if she was here without stuff. Because yes as someone pointed out she can’t nip out to M&S so might have been a bit of a nightmare for her getting suitable clothes in a hurry. Though I guess palace staff, etc would have helped. She must be having a really hard week and being apart from her kids longer than planned.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 19/09/2022 11:30

@vera16 I thought the same.

KosherDill · 19/09/2022 11:29

Are the Middletons there?

Parents are yes.

Mayim · 19/09/2022 11:30

@LondonWolf Rosemary signifies remembrance - it's a beautiful wreath.

Travelledtheworld · 19/09/2022 11:30

@itsgettingweird my daughter played the clarinet at her Grandmothers funeral, that was a nonconformist one though.

Pyjamagame · 19/09/2022 11:30

LondonWolf · 19/09/2022 11:27

What does the rosemary signify?

and as an emblem of remembrance

QuebecBagnet · 19/09/2022 11:30

KosherDill · 19/09/2022 11:29

Are the Middletons there?

Yes. Her parents anyway.

KosherDill · 19/09/2022 11:29

Are the Middletons there?

Certainly the parents, they were seen arriving earlier.

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 11:30

@Cocolapew .
Many years ago I saw a documentary on choir boys and I was horrified by the hard work they have to do. Up hours before others, slogging away hours and hours practice.

HeidiWhole · 19/09/2022 11:31

The archbishop....Is that a special robe for state funerals, I wonder? Is it the same one that's been used before?

FuzzyPuffling · 19/09/2022 11:31

Also, choirboys are at Westminster Abbey school and practice all the time. It is their job from the age of 7 or 8, until their voices break around 12.

Elderflower14 · 19/09/2022 11:31

What paper....????

MarshaBradyo · 19/09/2022 11:31

Anyone batting off young dc

I never watch stuff in day and four year old buzzing around

I had a thought today we’ve known the Queen all our lives, her age group will have Kings

BlueBloodedBlue · 19/09/2022 11:32

One of the Bishops dropped a piece of paper at the start of the service and it landed right next to the coffin

Travelledtheworld · 19/09/2022 11:32

@QuebecBagnet surely Megan would have a personal shopper and an account with a suitable London store ?

Bouledeneige · 19/09/2022 11:32

The choirboys go to Westminster school (located in deans yard just round the corner) and they are auditioned as part of entry.

MrsFezziwig · 19/09/2022 11:32

elizaregina · 19/09/2022 11:25

Incredible shot of crown just then! With. Sprig of rosemary by it

There’s rosemary. That’s for remembrance.

(From Hamlet).

SoupDragon · 19/09/2022 11:32

Cocolapew · 19/09/2022 11:29

How do you become a choir boy in Westminster Abbey? Do they audition?

They are from Westminster Abbey Choir School and yes, they will have auditioned to get into the school.

Cocolapew · 19/09/2022 11:32

They're so young as well

greenhousegal · 19/09/2022 11:32

I was thinking that the Queen was sending a message to the new King about the "Spider Letters" when I saw the creature on the wreath!

I am not British, but those of you who are can be so so proud of everything associated with the Queen's death and funeral. You do it so well and it's a great tribute to her.

PizzaFunghi · 19/09/2022 11:32

They audition around age 7 I think, and are part of the boarding school at the abbey. They don't have to be absolutely top singers to start with but show potential, good ear/tuning, good concentration, follow direction well etc and then they train them up extremely well - they sing services many times a week. Fabulous but totally intense musical training

W0tnow · 19/09/2022 11:32

Elderflower14 · 19/09/2022 11:31

What paper....????

A bit of paper fluttered to the floor just behind the coffin. Dropped by a priest as he opened the booklet I think? It’s been picked up now.

XXV · 19/09/2022 11:32

"We will meet again". Touching and clever.

LondonWolf · 19/09/2022 11:33
