What's suddenly not in shops near you?

I've been trying to buy cream of tartar for all of September. None in Coop or Tesco in three towns. A friend bought the only tub on the shelves of an upmarket foodie shop further afield today. She lent me it so I could take what I needed for scones promised for a village event, but she wanted it back. There's bicarb soda and baking powder - why no cream of tartar?

Maille Dijon mustard. There’s a shortage of mustard seeds or something.

Mitchum solid deodorant

The sure version is quite nice

CombatBarbie · 15/09/2022 23:01

Deodorant in Aldis...... Men's in particular, this has been for last month.

Went 3 weeks of no butter in any of the 5 supermarkets within 30 miles. Even now its only standard butter, no special sea salt types.

Vegetable oil.... Plenty rapeseed though.

pastypirate · 15/09/2022 23:01

Farking frozen Brocoli in aldi lidl Morrisons BUT I've ventured into Farm Foods and Iceland and they both have full freezers.

Farm foods had no gaps of anything!!!

friggingnora · 15/09/2022 23:06

Can't get any solid deodorant in my area. Has been that way for months.
Ditto Chappie.

keeprunning55 · 15/09/2022 23:12

Pain au chocolate in Lidl

CaptainCorellisBagpipes · 15/09/2022 23:14

Dishwasher tablets
Aubergines
Vegetarian frozen 'meatballs'

Itsanothergrunt · 15/09/2022 23:14

Frozen broccoli, gluten free products (especially tesco own brand), peppers and tescos stockwell branded goods seem hit and miss.

BlueBellsArePretty · 15/09/2022 23:16

Tesco used to do pouches of ready cooked quinoa and also mixed grains which they haven't had for months now.

Also lurpak softest is quite hard to find now.

I don't live in the UK. Came back last week and was staggered at the amount of empty shelves and the spreading out of available produce.

Honestly this is not happening in Europe. I can only assume brexit issues

How many times have you been to the supermarket since you returned last week out of interest?

JesusSufferingFuck22 · 15/09/2022 23:16

Tinned supermarket brand mackerel in olive oil. I can only get Princess stuff which is about 50p more expensive per can. I’m on a restricted diet and eat a can of mackerel everyday. Asda sometimes have it but restrict you to 3 tins max.

Vegetable oil is usually made from rapeseeds too, so essentially the same thing (unless you want the cold presses posh rapeseed oil)

Curry Supernoodles for about 6 weeks

Butter beans

Thesearmsofmine · 15/09/2022 23:21

Mitchum solid deodorant here too. So annoying ad it’s the only one I like.

MsTSwift · 15/09/2022 23:21

Where is all the Dijon mustard?

jumperfromasda · 15/09/2022 23:22

No mince pies in my local co-op - driving me mad as I really wanted to get some for someone as a joke gift. FFS you usually can't move for the things mid September!

Soya milk, I'm down to my last couple of cartons & can't find any in any of the supermarkets in a 10 mile radius!!

Same.

crackersforcrackers · 15/09/2022 23:24

I'm in the SW and the last 3 months haven't found tamarind paste in Tesco/Waitrose/Aldi anywhere near me. Was out of town for work (today!) and saw it randomly on a shelf, have bought 2 Grin

MarthanotMarfa · 15/09/2022 23:24

OP you can buy cream of tartar in many firms on Amazon-lots in stock. Coriander seeds do seem hard to get at the supermarket and dishwasher salt. Lidl do brilliant soya and oat milk and it’s in stock near me.

piefacedClique · 15/09/2022 23:25

Plain and self raiding flour

crackersforcrackers · 15/09/2022 23:26

Have also noticed the Mitchum stick deodorant going in and out of stock randomly near me @Thesearmsofmine @anon666

Me too!! In London as well (so lots of shops) and my husband can only have soya. So annoying!

Chocoholic1972 · 15/09/2022 23:27

Caviar. I'm beginning to despair

I’m with you! No own brand men’s deodorant in Lidl either for weeks, it’s driving me mad.
