I was telling my DH that it's considered borderline overweight, but that I think at that weight most people my weight would be between a size 10-12 (of today's vanity sizing).

I'm 5 foot and 9.7 stone .. I'm a size 8 but chubby and hourglass...could certainly lose another stone but it's hard at 50!

SherwoodForest · 30/01/2024 19:39

I'm slightly taller and was a size 16 at that size. I have to be well under 10 stone to get to 14 and well under 9 stone to be a size 12, which I am now.

Polecat07 · 30/01/2024 19:42

Those are my stats and I wear a size 10 in most things. Long torso and short limbs, so I have a flat stomach but chubby upper arms and legs. I'm definitely more comfortable a stone lighter. I have a double chin but no one would say I was fat I don't think.

Interesting. I’m 5’3 and scraping 9 stone and would say I’m a 6 on top, 8 on bottom… But I am an hourglass/pear shape with very generous bum and thighs so I’m only a size 8 in wide leg trousers or A line type skirts, anything skinny or super fitted on bottom half I’m probably more like a 12 (and I wouldn’t buy it!).

So when people give their clothes size you have to ask are that giving the size that would fit them no matter what the style, or the size that fits them in clothes that suit their body shape. If that makes sense.

I'm 5'2 with that weight and I'm a size 11. Size 12 is definitely more comfortable

Wowzel · 30/01/2024 20:25

I was a 12 at that weight and am now a 14 at 72 kg

Yes, interesting point. I'm small chested with narrow shoulders and probably haven't ever bought a dress bigger than an 8 yet some trousers I'd need a 12.

I'm 5'6 and weigh the same as the OP. It's a stone heavier than I normally am and I feel like it really shows. In jeans, I'd say I'm definitely a big 10 if not a 12. I'm amazed by what the OP weighs given her height and the photos. OP you have a great figure! You look considerably slimmer than your BMI suggests.

5'2, 64-65kg. 12/14 top, 10/12 bottom half. Runner, climber, paddler. Want to be 60kg but need to eat sib 1000cal for that and life is too short.

tunainatin · 30/01/2024 22:37

I'm that height and a stone less and 10-12 (sometimes 14), so yes, I think that would be overweight. According to the weight height charts I'm at the very top of healthy range, which is how I feel.

internallydyingfromhormonalshite · 30/01/2024 22:45

I'm close to this at 10 stone, 5ft 4 and size 12. I feel fat and whereas you look slim in that photo my belly would be protruding. My weight goes to my boobs, belly and upper arms. I need to get my act in gear and do something about it

Interesting! This thread is two years old - and I opened it up on my bookmarked answer from two years ago. I actually way the same as I did at that time - but have lost and gained about 10 lb (probably twice).

Are you 12/14 up top due to a big back or large boobs? Is it broadness, excess fat or large boobs I am wondering

Broad shoulders (best sports are kayaking and climbing) and big boobs.
