I was telling my DH that it's considered borderline overweight, but that I think at that weight most people my weight would be between a size 10-12 (of today's vanity sizing).

when I weighed 10.5 stone at 5’3” I was just a size 12, size 10 at 9.5-10 stone. I think overweight in terms of bmi was 10 stone 2 for me.

Knockon · 15/09/2022 09:22

This is me. I consider myself a stone overweight. I currently fit into stretchy 12s. My BMI says I am overweight too. My ideal weight is 59kg, but I can’t achieve that without significant diet restrictions and exercise regimes that I just don’t have the time or inclination for now. My aim is 62/63, with is much more manageable

ClaireandTed · 15/09/2022 09:23

I was size 14 at that weight and in 5ft 3.

Now I've dropped a stone to 9 stone 4 and I am a 12, there's no way I can get in size tens. I hold my weight around my middle.

LostAtTheCrossRoad · 15/09/2022 09:24

That's exactly my height and whenever I'm at that weight in the last six years I've been a small size 12. But it's still firmly in overweight territory - vanity sizing is just ridiculous now. I still have a clearly identifiable layer of fat and bulges in the wrong places at that weight, and need to lose another stone at least to be nicely slim and healthier.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 15/09/2022 09:24

I was 12 mostly, but definitely overweight despite being very active. I've managed now to drop under 10 stone for the first time in what feels like my entire life by taking up running.
However I'm still a fairly oblong shaped person - solid, muscular, small boobs, so I'm definitely not petite.
Like Garfield I used to say I'm not overweight, I'm undertall.

MolliciousIntent · 15/09/2022 09:26

I was a 12/14 at that weight and height, but visibly fat

HappyMaltesers · 15/09/2022 09:26

It's not borderline overweight. It is overweight.

Unless you're a gym fanatic and it's all muscle.

I'm that height and I'd be in at least size 14, possibly 16.

ShadowsShadowsShadows · 15/09/2022 09:29

That's my height and weight (well it fluctuates but that's where it keeps bobbing back to!) I'm a size 12 and technically overweight, it's my "I need to lose a few pounds" weight. Currently trying to get down to 10 stone by just eating better. Going for very gradual and sustainable loss.

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 09:30

@HappyMaltesers it is borderline overweight (26.1 is mine) and I personally don't feel fat not even overweight, and no, I'm no gym fanatic but I do workout.

I'm 10 kgs lighter and probably should buy size 10 now. (But I'm trying to lose a few kgs instead to fit into my old clothes.)

Windowtea · 15/09/2022 09:34

I'm a similar height OP and never been under 10st since I was a child. It is overweight (I think the BMI cut off is 9st 12lbs). But it is a weight I am happy with.

As for sizing, at 10st I'm about a 12. I can get into a 10 in places with ridiculous vanity sizing like M&S. I'd need a 14 in places like AX Paris, Lipsy etc.

Alarae · 15/09/2022 09:35

When I was that weight (back on the wagon...) I was a size 10. I was a size 8 below 10 stone.

I was probably slightly smaller at a higher weight (for my height) as I worked out 6 days a week, incorporating weights.

Thecatisboss · 15/09/2022 09:36

When I was that weight a few years ago I was a size 12-14 and my BMI was 26 (and unfortunately blood tests showed I was pre-diabetic as it runs in the family).

MoChridhe · 15/09/2022 09:36

I'm a small 12

maddy68 · 15/09/2022 09:39
  1. And this is the heaviest I have ever been. Menopause is a shitter
Sillyholiday · 15/09/2022 09:43

Thats me. I was in an uncomfortable 10. Now 10 stone and size 10 a better fit. However if I was 9 stone I'd still be a size 10. Don't know what that means for my body shape lol

Sillyholiday · 15/09/2022 09:45

You don't look overweight. At 10.5 stone I feel very double chinny

Jins · 15/09/2022 09:48

That’s me but I have a weird body shape with broad back and shoulders and narrow hips so I’m in size 12 on the top, occasionally 14 and size 8/10 on the bottom depending on how generous the waist is.

Summersdreaming · 15/09/2022 09:48

Interesting, I'm 5ft 8, 10.5 stone and still a size 12! I need to get below 10st to be a true size 10. This seems unfair 😂

ThisisCollie2022 · 15/09/2022 09:50

When I was this weight I was 14-16. I'm 5ft 2

WellTidy · 15/09/2022 09:53

Im 5 foot 1. When I was 10st 5lb, I was a size 14. But still a size 14 at 10st 13lb. I am a size 12 at anything between 8st 11lb and 9st 5lb.

I need to be 9st 6lb to be within a healthy BMI but I still look podgy at this size.

catsandkid · 15/09/2022 09:55

I'm 5ft 2 and was recently 10st 3lbs (so just a bit under you) and I was a large 12/small 14. My BMI was in the overweight category. I've been slowly losing weight (annoyingly piled a few lbs on over summer holidays) and I'm now 9st 9lbs and literally just in the top of normal BMI and I'm a 12 but can fit into some of my old 10s (less so on the bottom half). I've recently taken up weight training and my weight loss has stopped, but I can tell I'm looking a bit leaner and clothing feels better... so maybe you have more lean muscle on you?

My comfortable weight is usually 9st 1lbs or less.... but that's harder to keep to after 2 babies!

Gensola · 15/09/2022 09:55

I was 64kg at 5 foot 2 (think that’s 10 stone 5) and was a large size 10/small 12. I carry a lot of weight on boobs, hips and calves with a small waist. I’m now 58kg and a size 8 basically consistently in all shops.

ShadowsShadowsShadows · 15/09/2022 10:02

I've just checked and I'm actually heavier currently than I thought so closer to 11 stone. Period though so let's blame that 🤣 I definitely couldn't wear a size 14, it would drown me. I do carry most of the weight on my boobs and bum though so don't look noticeably much different between 10 and 11 stone. Having said that I haven't looked at slim as your picture OP since I was just under 10 stone, probably closer to 9.5 stone so I think the working out will be keeping you lean.

Workawayxx · 15/09/2022 10:03

You look great op! I definitely didn’t look like that at that weight but I think people carry it differently.
