If you weight 66/67kg (10.5st) and are 5ft2/3 (1.59m) what's your size?

I was telling my DH that it's considered borderline overweight, but that I think at that weight most people my weight would be between a size 10-12 (of today's vanity sizing).

I’m 5”3 and when I was 57kg, on the bottom half, I was tight in size 10 or could get size 12. However was a size 8/10 on top.

it really depends on body composition, muscle, heavy or light bones. How much is fat ? These are better markers of health than bmi imo.

newjobwhodisperhaps · 15/09/2022 11:20

When I was 5ft3, and weighed 10.5 stone I was a small 10 with a tiny waist.
Im now 5ft4 and 12 stone size 12/14

shinynewapple22 · 15/09/2022 11:20

I think it depends a lot on the proportion of muscle you have. And also your individual shape. .

At that weight I would take a size 14, possibly a 12 on top . I'm around a stone heavier at the moment .

Regarding the size/weight thing - I remember a couple of years back discussing this with a colleague a similar height to me - she was more than a stone heavier than me but could get into a smaller size . She did a lot of exercise so a lot more muscular/toned than I was.

shinynewapple22 · 15/09/2022 11:27

@newjobwhodisperhaps if you have gained an inch in height - were you an adolescent when you were 5'3"? If so then the same rules about BMI etc don't apply .

newjobwhodisperhaps · 15/09/2022 11:29

@shinynewapple22 No, I was 20/21! I've grown an inch!!!

MotherWol · 15/09/2022 11:32

I’m 160cm and currently 68kg, I’d like to be closer to 65kg. Currently a 12 top, 14 bottom, I think I look pretty average. MN is a bit weird about weight, there are lots of posters who think anything over an 8 is obese.

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 09:30

@HappyMaltesers it is borderline overweight (26.1 is mine) and I personally don't feel fat not even overweight, and no, I'm no gym fanatic but I do workout.

I’m that height and 8.5 stone (size 8-10) but look like you. Are you sure you have the correct weight?!

user1471481356 · 15/09/2022 11:35

I’m 67kgs at 158cms and very much over weight. I have a lot to lose. My 12s are loose on my and I think I could need 10s in most things. Sizing is ridiculous these days. It annoys me every time I go shopping.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 15/09/2022 11:37

Is your waist really 25 inches?!

TinaYouFatLard · 15/09/2022 11:38

I’m exactly that height/weight at the moment. I’m a 10 on top and struggle with a 12 on the bottom right now. I have fat arms, wobbly tummy and chins. I need to lose a stone but it’s bloody hard now I’m older.

mast0650 · 15/09/2022 11:38

Hmmm. I'm 5 ft 4 and about 9 stone and I am already a good size 10, not a small 10.

museumum · 15/09/2022 11:39

I’m that height and a very roomy 12 at that weight. Sometimes a 10.
my arms and legs are pretty solid and stocky (think rugby front row) which affects weight but not dress size except for very skinny jeans or knee high boots which are tight on my calves or fitted shirts with no give which are tight on my upper arms.

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 11:41

Yes my weight is accurate. No my waist isn't 25in, although I do wear 25in jeans (all low waist). My waist is 26in I just think jeans have also some vanity sizing obviously.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/09/2022 11:42

I’m a 14 at that weight but don’t really shop in places that do vanity sizing.

DelilahBucket · 15/09/2022 11:49

It will depend on bodyshape but I'm a 12. Big boobs, big thighs, narrow shoulders waist and small back.

Whererhewestwind · 15/09/2022 11:52

@Namechangefail123 I"m 5'2 and 46.5 kg . I wear a size 6/8. Are you sure your weight is correct ? You look very slim.

ItMustBeBedtimeSurely · 15/09/2022 11:58

I’m a 10-12 at that weight and height. I am pear shaped and probably fairly muscular so not particularly flabby. No interest in losing any weight although I am technically overweight, I think different body compositions/ shape make a huge difference to how much weight impacts size and health.

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 12:00

@Whererhewestwind yes my weight is accurate. When I was a size 4/6 I was 55kg

OP posts:
Whererhewestwind · 15/09/2022 12:03

Well ,you look fabulous @Namechangefail123 !

Maymaymay · 15/09/2022 12:08

I was a 12. At 9 stone 10ish I drop to a 10. 9 stone 1 lb I was borderline 8/10. I'm 5 ft 3.5 😁

usernotfound0000 · 15/09/2022 12:39

Pretty much my exact measurements, BMI is just into overweight but I'm a size 10 on a good day.

usernotfound0000 · 15/09/2022 12:47

To add, when I was around 9 1/2 stone I was mostly a size 8 apart from jeans that still needed to be a 10. Even at 11 stone I was only a 12/14. But I'm bottom heavy, have a narrow waist but large hips/thighs and I exercise well now so like to think some of it is muscle!

BooksAndHooks · 15/09/2022 12:51

I’m 5ft 5 and 10.3 I’m in size 14 and look huge. To be a size 10 I have to be just over 8 stone.

washingbasketqueen · 15/09/2022 12:54

I'm that height and weight and am a 10 sometimes 12 in some shops. I've a biggish busy, small waist and am toned (do a lot of weights). People often comment that I'm slim. Ive been smaller and everyone said I was too skinny and it made me look older.

Thingsdogetbetter · 15/09/2022 12:56

Exact same height and weight and a 12-14. But I've always had a big waist regardless of weight - was 7 stone in my 20s and needed a size 10 then - and it's my waist that needs a size 12-14. Legs, arms etc fit a 10 still.

And I'm a XL in Zara which seems to do the opposite of vanity sizing. Lol
