I was telling my DH that it's considered borderline overweight, but that I think at that weight most people my weight would be between a size 10-12 (of today's vanity sizing).

I'm 5.4 and just under ten stone. I'd wear a size ten atm but I've a narrow frame and this is still a bit overweight for me. Aiming for pre-pandemic weight of just under nine stone which is about right, and a modern day size 8.

GreenWhiteViolet · 15/09/2022 10:08

I'm that height and at 10.5 stone I'm a size 12/14 and definitely visibly overweight. I think different people carry it differently and it depends on muscle mass too.

BryceQuinlanTheFirst · 15/09/2022 10:08

You don't look overweight, are you quite booby? Maybe your weight is there.

My BMI is between 25-26 I'm a 10-12 but 5ft 8, I don't look overweight, we do all carry differently

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 10:10

It all started because I was telling my husband that weight isn't the best way to measure my "size". I'm actually a solid size 8 across most shops (and even a 6 at M&S and Gap), but I'm know I'm the exception rather than the norm. Most of my jeans are size 25in (currently wearing them). Oddly enough even when I was around 7-10kg lighter they still fit me, obviously much looser. I think this time I'm definitely more muscular than different iterations of my body.

I'm 9st 10, 5'3 I can't fit in a 10. I'm a 12 but occasionally 14 in a tight top. I think it depends on how your weight is distributed - I'm a 34DD

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 10:15

I have smallish boobs (32C is the most comfortable bra I own).

At that I would have been around a 10-12. Mostly 10 on top, 12 on the bottom. I'm pear shaped.
I haven't been that since I was 17 though. Closest I got was 10st 10 when I was 30 and that was such a struggle and ultimately after 3 years the weight went back on to a size 18/20 😔.
At 9st 6 aged 16 when I booked for pregnancy I was a size 8 on top, 10 on the bottom and looked in good shape despite being bmi 24.

unsure144 · 15/09/2022 10:22

I weigh the same (granted in 5'8) but flat chested and a size 10. You definitely don't look overweight and if you eat well and work out I definitely wouldn't worry.

foxandbee · 15/09/2022 10:22

9st 12 and 5'3". Size 8 (rarely tbh)/10/12 depending on the shop. I look a bit squidgy round the edges. I look much better at about 9st 6. Still a 8/10/12 at that weight.

HappyMaltesers · 15/09/2022 09:26

It's not borderline overweight. It is overweight.

Unless you're a gym fanatic and it's all muscle.

I'm that height and I'd be in at least size 14, possibly 16.

It's irrelevant though what "you" would be, as everyone is also built differently and holds weight in different areas.

I am 5'3", and 11 stone, and I am a size 12 bottoms, 14/16 top. I am actually quite small built, my bra size is 32/HH, have a tummy, but massive (and heavy) boobs. I am certainly overweight, but looking at me, you can't really tell.

ginslinger · 15/09/2022 10:27

12/14 depending on manufacturer - could be medium or large for those who don't size

Wowzel · 15/09/2022 10:29

I'm your height and 69kg - the biggest i have ever been when not pregnant.

I was a 12 but now heading towards a 14 on the bottom

AllAboutMargot · 15/09/2022 10:31

I'm 5'3" and a bit and weigh 10.5 stone. I consider myself overweight and am taking steps to lose some, exercising a bit more and eating a bit less.

I'm top heavy so a size 16 in tops and dresses but 14 in skirts and trousers.
I wouldn't expect to get into an all over size 12 until I've lost about a stone, so 9.5 stone.

Orion27 · 15/09/2022 10:39

I’m 5 ft 3 and have always been around 66kg and a size 12 on bottom and 10 on top, didn’t feel slim but didn’t feel fat either! I’ve had a baby 3 months ago and got weighed at 74kg last week for the first time and went jean shopping yesterday and was a comfortable 14 on the bottom in multiple shops but a 10/12 on top, I feel like I have a bit of a belly and huge boobs but still don’t feel fat although I don’t love looking at myself in photos and know I have a couple of stone to loose now.

I think people carry weight so differently, it’s not the best indicator of size or health tbh.

Limmers14 · 15/09/2022 10:47

Hi OP, you look fab! I’m in a similar boat. I’m 5’5/165cm and weight around 68kg, I think. I did the BMI calculator and it said I was overweight which really worried me!

I’m a 34B, waist 27 in jeans (expensive jeans too which I’ve been assured don’t vanity size) and generally a size 10 across the board in most shops. I guess it’s muscle but I’ve no idea how to tell for sure? I carry my weight around my tummy and have a little pooch! 😂

pastaandpesto · 15/09/2022 10:50

Are you sure your scales are correct?! I am 5'6" and look visibly overweight at anything above 63kg (I'm around 60kg and look slim-ish I guess, bit not slim slim iynwim).

SherwoodForest · 15/09/2022 10:50

I was the same height and weight as you for a long time and was size 16. I now weigh 54kg and am size12.

Leafer · 15/09/2022 10:51

i don’t consider that an unhealthy weight at all! I’ve been that size and am that height and still in a 10. I feel best around 9 stone but when I’m 10 I really don’t look overweight at all.
i thought it was widely accepted BMI is garbage and surely the vast difference between peoples sizing in this thread alone helps show that. It’s much more individual than that.

Namechangefail123 · 15/09/2022 11:03

I actually think most posters are confirming that the median size is 12-14?

My scales are correct BTW, I've always been heavier than I look, but have never been a size small (even extra small at times) and still be considered overweight.

Before I had my first, I had always been 70kg and a size 12-14. I did look bigger though, but the difference in size looks much bigger than just 4kg

If you weight 66/67kg (10.5st) and are 5ft2/3 (1.59m) what's your size?
OP posts:
Whokno · 15/09/2022 11:09

This is me, I'm a size 14 and definitely overweight (check out the BMi calculator). I need to be about 9st 9lbs to get out of overweight category

Whokno · 15/09/2022 11:10

But I look slim from the front - it's only the side on view that gives it away

OttilieKnackered · 15/09/2022 11:12

I’m 5’2’’ and currently 10 stone 3. Was a bit heavier until morning sickness limited what I could eat. I’m 10 weeks and just starting to slightly thicken round the middle so maybe 2-3 pounds is pregnancy?

Im a 12-14 for sure. My shape is basically ‘broad’. I have big hips, shoulders and size seven feet. Even at 8.5 stone I was never below a size ten.

OttilieKnackered · 15/09/2022 11:12

So the opposite to @Whokno, I look bigger front on than from the side!

Alicesweewonders · 15/09/2022 11:12

I'm 5ft 3 and 8st 10 I wear size 12 bottoms - some of them are bordering on uncomfortable.
I wear size 10 tops. I suppose I'm middle heavy😔

ronniecat · 15/09/2022 11:15

I'm 5ft 1 and weigh 8st 5lbs

I'm size 8

At 10 stone (post pregnancy) I was a big 12.

9 stone I'm a 10
