I’m just wondering how they do a 6 hour journey. Do they have stops for loo breaks? Do they change drivers.?

Paid our respect this morning, went to friends for breakfast, then moved the garden furniture down the drive and waited for the Queen. Sun was shining and a piper was playing along the road cubs and scouts were across the road , it was very emotional Queen was in the first car with princess Ann and her husband were I the second car.

Funny thing was it was not sad everyone just wanted to show how much loved and respected we had for the Queen and to say our goodbyes

Royal Deeside and Aberdeen were looking there best today.

That'ss genuinely lovely, to be able to say a decent, heartfelt goodbye.

toomuchlaundry · 11/09/2022 16:06

@Nanalisa60 that sounds lovely

MrsLargeEmbodied · 11/09/2022 16:10

the tractors
and then the horses, ! also made me a bit tearful
plus the crowds at Edinburgh.
so emotional

Thank God for Andrew Marr and his knowledge of Scottish geography history and politics.

SpinCityBlues · 11/09/2022 16:12

Edinburgh is ridiculously beautiful

Maireas · 11/09/2022 16:13

Anyone know what that stadium is?

bigyellajacket · 11/09/2022 16:14

It's for the tattoo, it's a temporary one on the grounds leading up to the castle.

That is the castle esplanade set up for the military tattoo.

I think you mean the seating for the Military Tattoo which takes place at the castle.

Which was excellent, I have to say.

LoveMyPiano · 11/09/2022 16:16

Just as well the strike by refuse collectors is over. I was listening to someone only the other day who was saying that the whole of Edinburgh was in a terrible state, and smelt very bad.

Ah, thanks, derxa - I forgot it's the Tattoo time.

The driver will probably piss into a Lucozade bottle and chuck it out the window.

Haudyourwheesht · 11/09/2022 16:18

I'd say there'd have been a pretty quick clean up if that'd been the case.

Garlicpotatoes · 11/09/2022 16:18

It’s called The Edinburgh Castle Esplanade,
took my mother there to a Cliff Richard concert 🫣
one of life’s sacrifices!

Off topic slightly but the scenery is absolutely beautiful.

Yes, Scotland has spectacular scenery and Aberdeenshire is looking particularly beautiful on tv. The route goes through ancient towns and villages that we tend to take for granted.

Thank you for posting that. the horses!

bigyellajacket · 11/09/2022 16:24

The route was cleaned overnight all weekend, extra men on shift as well. Rest of the place is still a work in progress.

RaraRachael · 11/09/2022 16:24

Royal Deeside is particularly beautiful and so glad they got a nice day for this. We visited Aboyne a couple of months ago and went to Balmoral for the afternoon. It's so lovely and peaceful there - I can understand why the Royal family love it so much. Ballater is a lovely wee village too - great ice cream shop!

Our wee primary school went pony trekking at Ballater. It's one of my happiest memories.

Apologies for the Daily Mail link but was the only one I could find with a clip of the horses in the article.

Thank you.

I'm just back in from viewing the cortege as it passed through the Kingdom of Fife on the way to Edinburgh. The overpass I went to was packed.

BashfulClam · 11/09/2022 16:29

Anne’s curtsey got me a bit emotional there!

sidewayswalking · 11/09/2022 16:30

Oh Princess Anne just curtsyed as the coffin was carried in 😭

That’s where I’ve been too. It was lovely to see so many people turn out, including my neighbours and people from further afield.

We had a bagpiper at ours - maybe you were at the same one?
