I’m just wondering how they do a 6 hour journey. Do they have stops for loo breaks? Do they change drivers.?

Very poignant seeing people lining the streets and the beautiful countryside.

The scenery is incredibly beautiful,I've been thinking about a holiday to Scotland!

I'm also interested in the logistics..

An ambulance seemed to be in tow.

I'm surprised there isn't a grander hearse,it seems extremely ordinary?

lollipoprainbow · 11/09/2022 11:24

I thought more people would be throwing flowers like with Diana. Yes very ordinary hearse I don't know what I expected really, it makes it all the more real seeing her coffin.

I thought that about the hearse. But then I guess the main thing is security and the grander stuff will be saved for the funeral. Ds aged 10 who has autism had a look and said “oh I expected more people” - I’ve had to explain it isn’t the funeral 😁

People have been told not to throw flowers apparently.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 11:26

The car immediately behind looks regal I suppose I expected something like that but then they probably don't keep royals hearses up there?

They said ln news they don't want people to throw flowers for safety.

I was wondering about fuel, I assume they will either have a vehicle carrying additional fuel, or a petrol station booked out specifically for them to fill up.

Theyre only going to Edinburgh even going the long route they won't need to refuel on the way

According to the "what happens when the Queen dies/London Bridge" articles I've read, the monarch's coffin would travel on the royal train down to London, or be flown. Why are they driving it?

They're worried about people on the lineside. They've had huge problems with people on the line for steam specials in recent years. Just think how bad it would be for a Royal Funeral Train. Either someone would end up killed, or the train would be delayed by hours as BTP cleared the line.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 11/09/2022 11:28

Roads near me are already closed and absolutely rammed with volunteers in high vis vests. It's them I worry about more. Also, you know, I'd like to be able to get places 🙄

giggly · 11/09/2022 11:29

I’ve never seen another hearse with a big sunroof, so in that respect it is a fancy hearse. Nice that the sun is out as well.

derxa · 11/09/2022 11:30

I'm interested in what's going on in the fields. Also a bit annoyed that people are always claiming that us farmers make the countryside into a wasteland. Just look at it! Aberdeenshire is looking so beautiful.

DogInATent · 11/09/2022 11:30

^ that's why they're flying it from Edinburgh rather than use the train.

As to why they're not using the train today, it's not practical for such a short journey.

That makes sense. I had half thought of going to Kings Cross to pay my respects, but I totally understand why they've decided against that. Northolt again then, I suppose.

Anyone else spot the undertakers logo on the hearse?

I think it's on the glass so might have been tricky to remove but it seems so cheeky to be in effect advertising via the national media covering the Queen's death.

At least it didn't have one of those Esso stickers,
'I've got a tiger in my tank' (from the 1960's)

or even worse,
'If you can read this you are too darn close'

lollipoprainbow · 11/09/2022 11:36

I know Anne is in the car behind, I wonder who is in the rest of the cortage.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 11:36

Yes! The undertaker logo!
Very surprising!

QuebecBagnet · 11/09/2022 11:36

My first thought was loo breaks 🙈

miserablecat · 11/09/2022 11:37

It looked like there was a spare hearse as well.
The scenery looked amazing
(But I can imagine it is a pain for local people, if main roads etc are closed )

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 11:38

Seems very fitting that she has this last journey from the top of the country.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 11:38

Strangely seems to unite us more ( n s won't like this)

miserablecat · 11/09/2022 11:39

I would definitely need at least one a toilet break and a bag of crisps to eat during a 6 hour journey

Agreed. Nicola's a strange one. She's very deferential at Royal events. Perhaps she wants some of those Unionist votes.

Branster · 11/09/2022 11:41

The motorbike surely needs some breaks.

Staff, protection officers, clergy from Craithie Kirk.

elizaregina · 11/09/2022 11:45

The horses lined up!!

How beautiful ❤️.

Doesn't seem like much protection going first. Where are all the vehicles we saw earlier on, are they well behind or well ahead.

I wonder if anyone is playing a bagpipes somewhere
