I’m just wondering how they do a 6 hour journey. Do they have stops for loo breaks? Do they change drivers.?

I wish I'd seen the early bits - I'd have loved to have seen the horses and the tractors, and I haven't yet seen pix on any news sites.

If anyone spots them published somewhere, would they be kind and link?

They've just shown this on the ITV news - this made me cry. Such a beautiful gesture and so fitting for the countryside. Loved the horses lined up alongside also. Beautiful.

There’s a clip of it on the BBC news app now. What a lovely gesture.

There’s a clip of the tractors guard on the bbc news app now, I assume on the website too.

If they're travelling 175 miles why is it taking 6 hours ? I know they're slowing down at some points but that seems an awfully long time.

Rough timetable

Don't know where this schedule was from, but it surely can't be official, as the times don't add up properly. If you look at the Brechin castle arrival and departure times, and the total travel times, they're out by 10 min

Somegirlsarebiggerthanother · 11/09/2022 14:47

She’s just past Dundee. We went to see the cortage passing as it’s only 5 minutes walk from our house to the Kingsway. DS6 told us he had a great time and 10/10 for the coffin.

Vapeyvapevape · 11/09/2022 14:48

Love the tractors!

It's the Express but there is a picture of the horses. www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1667734/Aberdeenshire-Queen-tribute-guard-of-honour-video-royal-family-vn

They had a longish break in the middle at Brechin Castle.

Vapeyvapevape · 11/09/2022 14:52

Ah thanks @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g

PizzaFunghi · 11/09/2022 14:52

It was by trying to figure out how long they spent at Brechin castle that I saw the discrepancy in times. It was either meant to be 35 min, or 45 min!! Of course I don't know how long it was in reality, as I don't know what time they got there or left. But the schedule and total travel time didn't line up.

Because a lot of the roads are country roads not motorways, and even if they were, funeral cars typically drive very slowly anyway, don’t think whipping along at 70mph would be fitting 😊

Up here in backwards Scotland, we're still powering cars by coal, so it takes that long as we have to keep stopping to stoke the furnace.

Oh, you stopped using worn out bagpipes for fuel then? welcome to the 20th century.

Yip it's the King thing I can't get me head around.

There will be a lot of early renditions of 'God Save the Queeiiing' I think.

@elizaregina those horses ❤️😢 that made me cry a little.

Aye, the haggis were getting cold, so now we fashion the bagpipes into little jackets for them. It's very cute seeing them hobble around on their uneven legs wearing their wee tartan jammies.

You don't know the country roads in Scotland do you?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2022 15:00

Early on in the cortege's journey some riders on horseback lined up by the edge of adjoining fields. Ditto some tractor drivers. Beautiful ways to show respect.

Vapeyvapevape · 11/09/2022 15:02

@PinkyFlamingo no I don't 🤦‍♀️. I've only been to Scotland once to a place called Bridge of Earn , it was beautiful.
