Just the thought of it creates butterflies in my stomach as when she died I was really young and it hurt a lot...even though I didn't understand what really happened. I'm sad the queen has died but just the thought of princess diana becoming queen...it would have been amazing.

@Badger1970
absolutely
i remember very clearly the ciriticism she was facing, picture of her on a boat, little snide comments, then suddenly, an about turn, queen of our hearts, cheers tony

In the words of Gino D'Acampo: If my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bike.

As others said, they had been seperated/divorced a while, she would have been Mrs Al FAyed by now.

midgetastic · 10/09/2022 09:54

Based on the law at the time

If Charles had refused to play ball, and left to be with camilla it would be Andy on the throne today ?

Yes she was young when she entered into an arranged marriage but a woman of her background would have known what she was getting in to.

She was trained to marry well from childhood and made the best possible match any aristocratic woman could, the heir to the throne.

She did her duty, gave birth to the heir and the spare, all she needed to do was keep quiet and enjoy the privilege of her position.

She could have had discreet relationships, done her charity work and enjoyed the money and status. Instead she gave a stupid attention seeking interview and kicked up a load of fuss. Pretending like she had expected a loving and faithful marriage and that she was some kind of Saint. She was too interested in the limelight to make a good consort to the monarch.

Camilla is a much better candidate for Queen Consort because she knows it is her job to support her husband and push him to the forefront.

I don't support the institution of the crown, I don't think anyone is ordained by god, or more important because they were lucky enough to be born into privilege. But it is the system we have and the people in the roles should do their jobs properly.

My only sadness is he didn't marry camilla in the first place

Me too, then at least we wouldn't have know that our King has sometimes wished he was a tampon 😱😳

I doubt it. That wasn’t a relationship that was likely to have lasted.

I thought things could not get more ridiculous but they have. 🙄

I agree, if she hadn't been divorced and didn't die, we would have her as Queen, and it would have been amazing.

Maybe more people would've been inspired by her kind heart and generosity if she was alive.

I don't like Camilla and nor Charles. I can never forgive a marriage breaker, and nor have respect for a cheater. Sadly they're King and Queen, yet I don't feel they are moral enough to be so.

Lets hope for the best for our country.

So you don't forgive Diana either yes? As she cheated also 👍🏼

puddingandsun · 10/09/2022 10:01

I'm only surprised that it took two days for the 'Queen Diana' posts.

The obsession is real.

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 10/09/2022 10:03

i don’t know why people seem to think she would have married Mohamed Al-Fayed. They’d only been together a matter of weeks. It was hardly even a relationship, he was just her latest shag and her his.

She would have continued to have relationships with whoever she felt like just because she could. Whether they were married or not, and then there would have come a point where she just wasn’t that attractive any more because she had got too old for the party scene.

I don’t actually think she would ever have been happy. She was far too shallow and self absorbed, and she couldn’t bear to not always be the centre of attention.

🤣🤣🤣

As an aside the smile that passed King Charles lips when he mentioned Camilla was amazing. Pure deep love.
When he looked so utterly broken over the death of his mum.

BBC showed the clip of Charles’ involuntary smirk as he lied that he wasn’t cheating on Diana.

How quickly people forget.

Charles and Camilla were adulterers. Adultery may be common but it doesn’t make it any less scummy.

Diana had affairs too. She was also scummy, yes?

It's well known Diana cheated first

Christ. Tell me you’re hard of thinking without telling me you’re hard of thinking.

Next up in fantasy land… U.K. could really do with a non-white monarch (so then Meghan wouldn’t have copped for some much shit). So I’m going to say, “and the Diana would have been Queen, and Dodi the King” ❤️

Nice attempt to white wash history now is king 🙄

Why is a non-white monarch anathema to you?

It’s perfectly possible that George may fall in love with a black or brown person and have children.

Well as others have said, she wouldn't have been Queen.

Diana is referred to in almost 'saintly' terms by many these days. She was treated appallingly in the early days and they should never have got married, but she was no saint. Lots of people who were very young when she died think of her as an angel and she really wasn't. No one is.

Figgygal · 10/09/2022 10:12

They were long divorced from an unhappy marriage
You say you are young dont remember her yet she'd have been awesome? what nonsense maybe educate yourself as to what was happening and not by watching the Crown

Day20 · 10/09/2022 10:14

Ifeelsuchafool · 10/09/2022 08:25

I am older than Diana would be, were she still with us. For those saying that she would be useless because she courted the limelight, nothing could be more wrong.

Not for nothing was she dubbed "shy Di" by the world's press when the relationship was first announced. She hated being in the limelight and Charles deeply resented her for the fact that she was lovely and genuinely empathetic and a crowd magnet, whether she wanted to be or not.
I am pretty certain that she genuinely thought that she was in love with Charles when they married. He knew he was not in love with her but liked her well enough to believe that they could make a go of it if she behaved according to royal tradition and turned a blind eye to his mistress, who he knew he was still besotted with.
She was a virgin child of 19 when she was led down that aisle at St Paul's like a lamb to the slaughter and he was a man of 31. I wish he'd had half the backbone he appears to have now. As for Camilla, she is not blameless in all this but the palace should have allowed the relationship and not been stuffy about the fact that she'd had other boyfriends leading to her jumping into the marital ring with Parker Bowles before Charles was hitched.

One can hardly blame her, she's certainly not so well endowed in the looks department as was Diana and so her window of maximum opportunity in the marriage market was likely smaller than most.

It's all a horrible mess, I am now a firm republican. Elizabeth was the last of the old guard and I don't consider any of the new guard fit to clean her shoes quite frankly so I personally think it's time for the monarchy to be dismantled.

Thats far too big of an age gap in the real world even. 19 is a very young girl with a grown man of 31.

There's a lot of hypocrisy here and the same people slagging Di off wouldn't be happy if it was their own daughter. Absolutely disgusting.

lifeturnsonadime · 10/09/2022 10:14

Oh my goodness that fan fiction page - ha ha ha!

I find it hard to believe that The King and the Queen Consort have been married 17 years. That's really gone in a blink of an eye.

I wish people would stop demonising Camilla, she seems very dignified in her duties and seems to understand the role that she has married into.

DeclansAFeckingDream · 10/09/2022 10:15

If I had won millions on the lottery I'd be a millionaire, but that didn't happen either.

EverydayIsPJday · 10/09/2022 10:15

I genuinely don't believe Di was half as nice as people think. Sorry. I think she was just very, very good at portraying an angelic persona. Not saying Charles and Camilla are angels by any stretch, but they should've been allowed to be together from the start.

Fucking hell! 🙈🤣

Quite. I'm not sure this correlation between sexual morality and monarchy stands up to scrutiny historically, a few exceptions like Edward I and Victoria (and I'm sure the late Queen) aside.

I think you need to read my post again @eldora ! Far from being anathema to me, I was saying it would be a good thing to have a non-white monarch - and I was suggesting that Dodi could have been that.

Of course, that’s utter tripe (hence why I said fantasy) because the law of succession doesn’t allow that the boyfriend of the first in line’s ex wife gets to be King. And even is she did get to be Queen - Dodi would be a Prince, not to outrank Our Lady of The People’s Hearts.

I’m talking arse about King Dodi, because OP is talking arse about Queen Diana 🤣

None of which means I don’t think there should be a non-white monarch!
