I was stirring dinner and dd was laying the table. I suspect a lot of us were cooking dinner. A moment we'll always remember.

When the announcement was made.. I was snuggling my 6wk old grandson to sleep.

I was on the phone talking to a friend about her cat I'll be looking after next week. Said friend was at the hairdressers. The news somehow reached the hairdresser who told my friend, who then told me. It was an odd moment, as we both expressed shock etc. But we still had to discuss the cat stuff, and went back to that. A bit surreal - life without the Queen, and I'm not a royalist in the least. She's just always been there.

I was sitting with my 4 year old in her bed. She was having her bedtime milk and when I explained what had happened she wanted to know how she had died and then asked if a witch had cursed her.

I must have checked the news on my phone just before it was announced. I was cooking dinner.

I was drying my dog.

I'd just turned iPlayer off on my phone as I was watching BBC One on it while serving up tea. We all sat down around the table and then the news alert pinged up.

I've had the news on all afternoon waiting for the announcement, so was sit on the sofa with DH when the news came. Kids upstairs playing roblox 🙄

Having a hot stone massage (when it was announced). Didn't find out until after obviously.

At the bus stop checking my phone for bus times when news flash popped up

At the boathouse, we had just concluded that there was actually thunder and lightning (at first I said no, it wasn't thunder, it was Alan dragging a kayak), so no paddling tonight.

Went into Waitrose she was being spoken about in present tense on the radio, came out 10 minutes later with a stock brined chicken , two pieces of smoked fish and some spinach dahl to hear them talking about her in the past tense and playing the national anthem ..
