When the Queen died?

I was stirring dinner and dd was laying the table. I suspect a lot of us were cooking dinner. A moment we'll always remember.

RIP Your majesty.

We’d finished tea and clearing up (small children) and had bbc2 on Alexa waiting for an announcement. We were just milling around the kitchen.

IHateWasps · 08/09/2022 19:27

A moment we'll always remember.

Sitting here eating a Boost and posting on MN, which is where I saw the announcement. I doubt that I'll be able to tell you what I was doing in 5 years time though.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 08/09/2022 19:27

I don't think that in, say, 10 years time we will remember as it doesn't have a "shock" factor. Princess Di was a complete shock so that even confirmed Republicans like myself can remember hearing that. Similarly, 9/11 was so unexpected that it is seared in my memory.

This evening I was sitting in the kitchen with DH and one of my friends, the TV was on in the background and obviously we took notice, but we'd effectively been waiting for it for a few hours.

Indoctro · 08/09/2022 19:27

At home with my kids watching tv

tomissmymum · 08/09/2022 19:28

Sitting watching laptop on my bed (student accommodation) . Heard a few shouts down the corridor as news broke .

blackheartsgirl · 08/09/2022 19:29

Dd2!and me we’re watching the telly. Dd1 was in her room.

dd3 found out walking home from football training and reading it off some randoms telly through thier window(my dd all over tbf)

KosherDill · 08/09/2022 19:29

In my home office sorting paperwork.

EarlofShrewsbury · 08/09/2022 19:29

Sat on the sofa watching the BBC.

It's where I wanted to be and how I always imagined I would hear the news.

(But I did imagine more of a 'we interrupt this programme to bring you breaking news' scenario.)

MrsTimRiggins · 08/09/2022 19:29

When it was announced, I had just put my ten month old son to bed and was sat on the sofa at home with my dogs around my feet and a glass of wine in hand.
RIP our Queen 🖤

Snowjive2 · 08/09/2022 19:31

Can’t remember

WildRosie · 08/09/2022 19:31

I was at home when The Queen most likely died this afternoon but in the pub at 6.30pm when the announcement came.

mynameischloe · 08/09/2022 19:25

You know what OP means, don't be so facetious.

I wasn't being facetious at all actually, but I did send the message too soon , so missed the bit about probably being at work when she died but preparing dinner when I heard the news. So chill your beans love, if you see my post on another thread you will see I was not at all being flippant or disrespectful.

Playplayaway · 08/09/2022 19:33

Yes I mean when the announcement came.

OP posts:
YoSofi · 08/09/2022 19:33

I’ve had the news on all afternoon, so I was sat on my sofa.

IncessantNameChanger · 08/09/2022 19:35

Watching the Beeb with my teenager

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 08/09/2022 19:35

Playing adopt me on roblox with my kids. I had the news on all afternoon, turned it off about 20 past 6 to play with the kids. 10 minutes later dh comes down the stairs showing the news on his phone.

Nat6999 · 08/09/2022 19:35

I'd just nipped to the toilet when my mum shouted upstairs that the announcement had been made, we had been watching the news coverage all afternoon.

HolyMerlot · 08/09/2022 19:35

In the Mad Bishop and Bear at Paddington Station (waiting for my train back to the Welsh valleys).

The pub was loud and normal, news on the TV in the background but with subtitles and loud music playing.....Huw appeared on the big screen in black....pub cut the music and turned on the TV sound.....bell rung by the barman behind the bar......pub fell silent....Huw made the announcement.....town crier entered the pub and shouted three times: -

THE QUEEN IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE KING.

Goosebumps moment for this little Welsh valleys girl!

CaptainBarbosa · 08/09/2022 19:36

I was on the telephone to a friend, talking about The Queen, I hung up, and then the news broke on my phone.

Antarcticant · 08/09/2022 19:36

When she actually died I was probably working. When the announcement was made I'd popped upstairs for a bath - got straight out of it when my husband came in to say her death had been confirmed.

Cakeandcoffee93 · 08/09/2022 19:36

Not to be spooky but a few weeks ago I was driving through town and had a feeling she would die soon.
i was just thinking about her dying then in the park in the rain with my daughter and checked the news. Bizarrely found a queen sticker on the floor. And took a picture of this Angel looking cloud. All very weird

So where were you..
spiderlight · 08/09/2022 19:37

Arguing with teen DS about washing up. He stomped off, stopped half-way up the stairs, then came back in having looked at his phone and said 'Mum - put the news on' :(

Cakeandcoffee93 · 08/09/2022 19:37

Also the park is named the queen Elizabeth second field

Pebble55 · 08/09/2022 19:39

Giving the little'un a bath when it was announced.
At work when she actually died. Just another humdrum weekday.

RIP E2. The entire world will miss you.

FlamingGoat · 08/09/2022 19:40

During the announment I was sitting in our camper in the Highlands.
When she died, probably on the beach.
