Will it be Continuity Truss or "Socialist" Sunak in charge?

Mine stays the same :(
I think my MP will die in harness .

Mine stays the same too but there is t as much in the vote as I think the Tory's would hope of predictions are correct.

Blossomtoes · 22/09/2022 18:08

Very interesting. Suddenly my Tory stronghold constituency turns marginal if those predictions are correct. I definitely won’t be spoiling my paper next time.

They suggest Tory stronghold I live in with the MP who represents Riyadh and Moscow is going to swing significantly red.

I wonder if more people start to realise that a Labour government is a real likelihood they will get out and vote for it.

jgw1 · 22/09/2022 19:18

Oh this is sad.

Come on North East Somerset, sort it out.

itsgettingweird · 22/09/2022 19:19

Good point.

Our prediction is 25k Tory, 17k Labour and 7.5k Lib Dem vote for whole area.

So they could easily not get a majority if things continue and people switch to Labour or libs.

DuncinToffee · 22/09/2022 19:41

Telegraph is reporting that after a suggestion that Liz Truss is not overly keen on the term, the White House has offered to suspend use of the "special relationship"
Confused

the80sweregreat · 22/09/2022 19:57

Ms Truss has made a few enemies this week then.

Ms Truss has made a few enemies this week then.

I was always under the impression that Boris whilst in government was playing some big game of dare, whereby his aides dared him to say increasingly ridiculous things to see what he would get away with.

I wonder if Liz Truss is on some kind of dare to see if she can have as many letters to the 1922 as days she has been in office.

Johnson got his Vladimir's mixed up today, praising Putin for 'inspirational' leadership.

Or maybe he accidentally spoke the truth.

Well that would be a Freudian slip of spectacular consequences!

I have to bite my tongue when my Ukrainian friend talks about how wonderful Johnson is.

She's been through enough - some truths are best kept hidden Wink

Well, these foreign names are easy to confuse.

Remind me why was Nazanin in Iran?

Notonthestairs · 22/09/2022 23:14

How did the Foreign Office manage to spend £4,333.30 on two trips to the hairdresser?

Why has their spending via government procurement cards shot up 45% since last September?

And why won’t they answer these and dozens more related questions?

Read all about it in my letter:

twitter.com/emilythornberry/status/1572982460614586370?s=46&t=dZ1_ijTodT7XBXYe7WEfFw

Interesting run down. I don't imagine Thornberry will get much by way of reply.

I'll admit (as a Canary) I was amused at £1841 spent at Norwich City Football Club Shop. Last season was not fun.

Would the FO have to respond to a FOI request? Are private eye on the ball with this?

My ds asked this yesterday. Just turned 18 and now registered to vote and he's taking a keen interest.

He is NOT a Tory. Thinks their a bunch of incompetents. So do all his peer group.

The issue seems to be that they don't talk about who they will vote for and this is where the other parties are falling foul.

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/09/2022 08:30

Dd turns 18 this month, she has no interest in politics and is only registered to vote because I filled in the forms. She generally rolls her eyes at me when politics comes up.
Saying that, both her brothers think this government is a joke and I can't imagine them ever voting tory. Their friends are all similar, and I have no doubts that when an election is called and her friends start discussing it, dd will engage.

I'd imagine that the FO may be able to avoid answering some questions on the basis of "national security" although it would be a stretch to apply that to hairdressing emergencies.

I'm sure PE have a file somewhere. Reading PE this week and it's eye opening how businesses sponsor politicians.

How in earth do you spend that much in a club shop Shock I know shirts aren't cheap but that is ridiculous.

I now have an image of a bunch of tories kitted fully in Norwich gear sticking out like sore thumbs.

DowningStreetParty · 23/09/2022 09:32

The budget hints released so far seem to be anti-green, non-distributive, and to rely on a misleading feel good factor (for some) of keeping house prices propped up and rising.

Not to mention the bullshit ‘solution’ of the six months consumer respite on energy costs, while giving massive revenues to energy companies which will all have to be paid back.

The short-termism is absolutely negligent. What happens to us all in six months or five years’ time?

DuncinToffee · 23/09/2022 09:48

He does mention 'start of a new era' a lot

12 years!

DuncinToffee · 23/09/2022 09:51

Kwarteng scapegoating benefit claimants and trade unions for Britain's low economic growth under the Conservatives.

12 years

L1ttledrummergirl · 23/09/2022 09:55

Kwarteng is a vile cunt of the lowest order (in my opinion). He has the standing of a frog and the intelligence of a piece of shit. How someone can be that thick, lacking in imagination and humanity and still claim to represent people is a mystery to me.

Lonelycrab · 23/09/2022 09:58

Kwarteng is a vile cunt of the lowest order

Who was also, by the look of things, off his face on god knows what for the Queens funeral, gurning and grinning manically while talking to himself.

Meanwhile the £ is absolutely tanking right now.

DuncinToffee · 23/09/2022 10:02

From next April the 45% top rate of tax (applies to those earning £150,000) will be scrapped. So the top rate will be the 40% higher rate threshold.

This means mega earners, pay the same rate as those on £50,000

"A minister for a decade and defended every single economic decision. When the PM says she wants to break free from the past, she's saying she wants to break from her own economic record."
