One pan meals. A lamb thing.

It's cooked on a tray, in the oven. He's also used a pestle and mortar.
Then he twonked the lamb joint on the oven shelf so that all the fat dripped through, on to the tray below.

Then he splatted all that on to a wooden board, and used another pot for the juices.

Ladies and gentlemen more ladies, I present to you, The Man Who Doesn't Wash Up.

How much saffron went into that risotto?

I don’t know, but I suspect it would cost half of a normal week’s shopping!

awwbiscuits · 06/09/2022 10:17

The amount of saffron in that dish must have cost at least a tenner

chalkyc2 · 06/09/2022 13:25

He did that annoying putting meat on the bare over shelf thing again....🙄

OVEN

I will never do that oven shelf thing and he only does it as someone else cleans up BUT I made the tomato fritters for dinner and they were the food of Gods!!

I hate the way chefs rinse their hands in a bowl of water when handling meat, he did it when preparing the pork, washed them in a bowl and then did it again using the same bowl and water 🤢

He is unrepentant.

But those tomato fritters, and last week's cheesy flatbread toastie looked amazing, the bastard.

Why must he "give it a little kiss" half a pint of olive oil?

Stop kissing food.

It wasn't a little kiss,it was a full on snog ...with tongues!

isweartoomuch · 07/09/2022 08:41

If I lived in the UK I'd never be able to drink fizzy or cordial again as those fecking sweeteners give me the worst stomach pain. And they taste disgusting. Fucking idiot that he is

Yeah they could at least address that this is not the way to wash your hands. I would hate to eat in a restaurant where that was the hand washing method.

Needhelp101 · 07/09/2022 10:26

I can confirm that the cheese flatbread toasties were a) super quick to make and b) delicious 😋

I've liked almost all the recipes on the show so far and will be buying the book. I like James.

adriftabroad · 07/09/2022 10:56

I will also ask for thebook for Christmas. Fabulous recipes so far. Love Jamie.

(If you want to save on oven mess, just chuck it on/in a roasting pan, it is obviously fine) I think he is just trying to give us ideas.

Do wish Conker could have one scrap though!

adriftabroad · 07/09/2022 10:59

But I suppose Conker would end up a very fat dog.

Just watched episode 2, the chicken pie looked lovely and was really clever. This is a good series actually

I'm just catching up and I agree, it's an enjoyable series to watch. Interested in the way he uses aubergines.

I smiled when he made the noodle soup and said "it's NOT a traditional Malaysian laksa, but it is MY laksa". Made me think of Uncle Roger's trashing of his fried rice (linked above but here it is again Grin).

YesitsBess · 10/09/2022 09:25

I went and bought some Ribena on the strength of this thread. I’m not a happy Bess.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 10/09/2022 11:08

Going to try the salmon filo pastry pie but with courgettes instead of tomatoes - what's the reckoning that will work?!

I made the chicken pie last night and it was really delicious. I did add some herbs and the filling needed longer to cook down, it would have been too wet after only 19 minutes. Lifting out the pastry lid was a bit tricky, but worked well.

I will only do half the liquid next time, that's all it needed. I added lots of parsley.

hennaoj · 10/09/2022 23:03

My husband calls him Jamie Olive oil, he's constantly using olive oil.

hennaoj · 10/09/2022 23:21

DebussytoaDiscoBeat · 22/08/2022 21:51

Not Jamie's 30 min meals but never fails to make me laugh Grin

That's the most hillarious thing I've seen in years. Surely that can't have been Jamie Oliver being serious about making egg fried rice like that?

Omg that's the funniest thing I've seen in ages 😂🤣

TheGoodEnoughWife · 16/09/2022 18:22

Can just report that the salmon and prawn filo pie works really well with courgette. Maybe an extra 5mins but absolutely delish and easy!

Chewbecca · 16/09/2022 20:40

I’ve made the salmon filo pie too now & it was good. Quite lemony so would minimise that. Mine would’ve been burnt if I allowed any more time. I didn’t serve with yoghurt as suggested but should have!
