One pan meals. A lamb thing.

It's cooked on a tray, in the oven. He's also used a pestle and mortar.
Then he twonked the lamb joint on the oven shelf so that all the fat dripped through, on to the tray below.

Then he splatted all that on to a wooden board, and used another pot for the juices.

Ladies and gentlemen more ladies, I present to you, The Man Who Doesn't Wash Up.

Did anyone else think that the C4 trailer voice over said "One pound meals"?

ReeseWitherfork · 22/08/2022 21:16

He started lying way back when with his “30 minute meals”.

Can't watch him since he ruined my Christmas Dinner a few years ago

Star anise in the gravy?

I use my pestle and mortar daily though. It's a handy place to sling pens and hair clips. 🤣🤣

ReeseWitherfork · 22/08/2022 21:16

Sorry cross post!

yonce · 22/08/2022 21:17

😂 I cannot stand the man!!! Watching him stick his hands made of thumbs into various meals and put them all onto a wanky serving apparatus is rage inducing for me. He definitely doesn't wash up!

I remember regularly being outraged over that for his 30 minute meals. Only 30 minutes if you're not the one who has to clean every pan in the kitchen afterwards. He seems to sometimes trash the place - chucking oil or salt everywhere, scattering things from a height - for the sake of it!

I gave up on 30 minute meals after watching one episode and he was using a food processor to make his own butter 🙄.

I can’t stand him, BUT I did meet someone who did their training at Fifteen, and it got him out of homelessness and into a (successful) career, so I suppose there is that. I think possibly early-era Jamie was better?

Takes me thirty minutes to find all the necessary bits to my food processor and line it up correctly so that it switches on

Plus he throws all the food around and presents it all 'smashed up' so it looks like a drunk has been sick into a plate.

Revolting

Hardbackwriter · 22/08/2022 21:19

My memory is that he used the food processor a lot in 30 minutes, which demonstrates the whole con. He did it because it's quicker than chopping - if you aren't going to be the one cleaning the food processor afterwards!

chillipenguin · 22/08/2022 21:20

I watched that lockdown cooking when he was like substitute it for whatever you have got. Which was useless as we just had 3 tins of mackerel

30 minutes if you don't count the hour at the supermarket sourcing all of the ingredients, and then you also have someone to chop it all up and put it in little bowls on the worktop so that you can just chuck it in the pan.

Yep
Greasy horrible gravy 🤢 and an overcooked bird

Also because at the time he was flogging food processors.

Wait, you don't have that??

He did the lamb on a rack in the oven recipe in series one or two of his TV shows. Is this a repeat from 20 years ago or is he just repeating the same dishes again?

legalseagull · 22/08/2022 21:22

My husband once put a picture of his dinner on twitter and Jamie commented "looks good mate" - honestly DH still brags 10 years later. It didn't look good enough for ten years of bragging...

Inklingpot · 22/08/2022 21:13

I quite like him, but his huge fat tongue is a bit off-putting.

😂

Hardbackwriter · 22/08/2022 21:23

Ooh I didn't know that but am happy to have further material for my list of grievances against him!

I also hate the way he adds loads of pasta water to any pasta dish he ever makes - he seems to have a real horror of the idea that pasta might be 'stodgy' but goes to the opposite extreme of making it into slop.

I can't watch him. Or nigella.
"Use left over meat from Sunday lunch...."
Its not leftover that's a side of venison we don't live in Toby carvery who has that left? !?

I read this in Peter Kays voice. I’m still laughing.

Sally99 · 22/08/2022 21:24

Agree with the accusation of more than one pan but love his recipes as they always work

EtnaVesuvius · 22/08/2022 21:26

We put ours in the fruit bowl.

MrsEricBana · 22/08/2022 21:26

He wasn't really reading the room with the salmon, huge fat raw prawns and jumbo leg o'lamb was he? Nice kids and dog though.
