We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

Ooh horses and skiing you say? I did those things back in the day too. Unless you mean a gambling habit...
There are some great all terrain chairs. I hope it doesn't come to that though.
Hope we the covid stays contained. I've finally stopped have to test twice weekly for work. They were a pita so I'm glad!
I've loaded car up with some bits for the tip, and i plan to send dh, so i too can delegate (see also, lawn mowing)
Wardrobe is done, so all the smug feels here.

Have done my duty soothing my mum re current news, and now steadfastly avoiding all types of media. Off to stick my nose in a book.

All the best to you all. It's raining again!

How do I know it's time for school pickup? It's raining!
We always walk but some days are more fun than others 💦

Peridot1 · 12/09/2022 10:29

Morning all! Hope you are all well.

I spent a lot of Saturday watching the events on TV. I love history and it was fascinating to watch everything going on.

A general tidy around and vacuum and washing day here. Not much was done at the weekend for various reasons.

DH and I are going to tackle the garden this week. It’s gotten quite untidy and is annoying me. Problem is I hate gardening. It’s DH’s domain but he’s let it slide a bit. It’s also 1.5 acres so will take a bit if doing!

EmmaH2022 · 12/09/2022 10:37

Morning! I posted on Housekeeping about my plan for the day but no one around. So copying and pasting here (below). Already 40 mins late starting, can someone shout at me please?

Anyone up for chat/accountability today?

my flat is a mess generally, I have to do a full on tidy & organise of it today! I tend to be on top of cleaning but do it by moving stuff around a lot!

the idea is be offline by 10 and do an hour, then have a break. I also have to go the supermarket, other shops for a birthday gift, and defrost the freezer. No work today, so if I get all this done today, I can start my week tomorrow from a much better place.

Peridot1 · 12/09/2022 11:50

Consider yourself shouted at @EmmaH2022!

Hope you are getting in with your list.

TightDiamondShoes · 12/09/2022 13:44

@Solosunrise i currently have four saddles in my bedroom and zero nags. Am a total sucker for a big Irish or German lad. 😉 NC again. What should I do with the saddles? I’m thinking buy 4 horses ammi right?

yesterday I managed 4 smug loads and a tiny walk to the postbox to post a couple of boring but necessary admin things.

this morning I did boring but necessary online admin and now I’m under a blanket with a book.

thanks! I did a fair bit...if I could learn to tidy up after myself, I'd save so much time.

breaking for lunch now, then into another session at 3.

RunningKatie · 12/09/2022 18:48

Blanket and a book sounds good @TightDiamondShoes

I've booked a festive lights walk this weekend, one thing off my list. I need to start stripping wallpaper too, got a plasterer coming but no date yet. I have to strip the walls before he comes, and don't want to leave it till the last minute.

Aria999 · 13/09/2022 15:01

Well the electricians have gone so now I need to clean the house... I don't know where to start!

They did a great job with dust sheets and they mopped up after themselves but I still feel like there is mess and dust everywhere.

I keep starting with the kitchen but of course it gets messy again quite soon. I feel like I could spend my whole life cleaning the kitchen.

DS6 got sent home from school yesterday as he has a cough so I need to involve him somehow too 😩

RunningKatie · 13/09/2022 17:54

Good luck with the house cleaning!

I've done a bit of gardening today, there was a real chill in the air this morning but it's got warmer as the day has gone on.
Bake Off starts tonight, so I'm saving the delights of the ironing pile to tackle whilst it's on. __

Peridot1 · 14/09/2022 08:18

Morning all.

I did a few bits in the garden on Monday while DH mowed the lawn. I emptied some pots of plants that died in the drought. Moved the empty pots and some others that have been in the way since we moved here. Almost two years ago. Sprayed some weeds in the gravel. Moved some furniture.

it was wet here yesterday (and is again today) so I did an inside job. Emptied a blanket box at the end of my bed which was full of jeans of various sizes and styles. Sorted through and tried some on and have a pile ready for the charity shop. I’ll bag them up today.

RunningKatie · 14/09/2022 13:30

The plasterer is coming next Weds. Any tips for tidy removal of painter on lining paper greatfully received. Eeek.
Today I'm going to look at the plughole in the downstairs loo. I have reports that it has mysteriously started draining when the plug is in. I suspect Mr Nobody has been at work in there again 🤔any coincidence that it occurs when trainers are washed in the sink is to be ignored!

Solosunrise · 15/09/2022 09:26

Morning all! @TightDiamondShoes I like a welsh lad myself! Once upon a time I had a tb/id girl, and she was pretty special 😍

My mojo has picked up as autumn is appearing! I love the new term feeling. Replaced the seal on the bath yesterday. Need to sort out my freezer today.

Have lovely day, all!

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 15/09/2022 11:02

The downstairs sink has been sorted, there was a little stone in the drain stopping the plug sealing properly. I wonder how that got there!!!

Today I need to handwash sports kit, get it out on the line whillst it's dry. I've also mopped the floors already.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 15/09/2022 12:44

I am feeling great affinity on this thread! I have 3 saddles and no horses. !

I lost my mojo but today I am starting on that linen cupboard.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 15/09/2022 12:45

My last horse was an excellent TB/WB cross. He was extraordinarily grumpy but did everything he was asked without fault (albeit with some bad grace). An absolute gem.

TightDiamondShoes · 15/09/2022 13:38

😂 do you feel there’s some correlation between people who put “the house” far down the list because they’d rather be in the saddle?

@OrangePumpkinLobelia So we’ve got enough tack to run our own riding school. Let’s fuck this house stuff off and get to it!

@Solosunrise there’s a bar in Jackson Hole has saddles as bar-stools. This is also a possibility for us as a group. Ski town + saddles + bar = sod the housework?

today I’m smug drying in a stiff northerly - so it might be with you soon. 🤷‍♀️ I’ve also had an argument with EE who are trying to charge me £170 for leaving them even though it was THEM who booted me as they no longer wish to serve my neck of the woods. Thankfully I’m anticipation of such customer service twattery, I kept the emails from the EE customer service chap.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 15/09/2022 14:08

oooh I'd love a riding school. We could have The Daily Project Riding School. There is a definite correlation. (I always fancied a pony trekking centre ala Miss Tuke in the Jinny at Finmory books.)

I am about half way through the linen cupboard. Found all sorts in there that definitely are surplus to requirements so I also have two charity shop bags full of clean bedding which I feel sure will be of use to someone. I will finish the rest tomorrow on my 'day off'.

Solosunrise · 15/09/2022 18:34

I have this theory about getting my house totally sorted and minimised, so as to free up hours and dosh to get back in the saddle.
Stables were always cleaner than house....

I still have a bareback pad, some dusty boots and a box of bits. Gave everything else away. I have the opportunity to ride a lovely ex JA pony, might just do it. Will have to put on my brave pants though. Has been a long time!

I used to work at a riding school and it was grim, so I'm not playing!!

Have made a start on the freezer.

OP posts:
RunningKatie · 16/09/2022 10:37

I've never ridden a horse! I feel I've missed out here.

Today I'm investigating the mark on the bathroom floor, I can't see how it's a leak from the toilet but also cannot figure out what it is. This could be a very grim task, I think dh needs to be involved in it.

Skethylita · 16/09/2022 16:51

Haven't been on here in a while because work meant every day had so many tasks to do I didn't get round to much around the house.

However, this is a long weekend, so tomorrow I will be completing a few projects for work, then start on the mural for my upstairs hallway. My teen picked out an image and I will try and recreate it in my own style - this is not a project for one day as doing it properly will likely be 100h+, but I will make a start tomorrow.

As well as the usual household stuff that has been neglected over the working week.

TightDiamondShoes · 17/09/2022 08:15

@RunningKatie probably for the best otherwise you too would have multiple saddles and at least 6 boxes of stuff labelled “horse” and upwards of 14 pairs of breeches you never wear. 😳 I think the riding school may be too much like hard work ambitious - so how about a wee yard just for us? Katie - the action is in the tack room: gossip, coffee and cats.

I’m on my own for the first time in 6 looooong weeks so I’m going to try and get some shit done as my balance is “fair”. First job is to finish this coffee then wash down the bathroom walls and put the extractor on to dry so I can paint them tomorrow. Will also need to nip out and buy a paint plastic tray thing and some sewing needles. Also really need petrol as nothing will be open until Tuesday and I’ve not got enough on the tank in case of emergency.

I also need to finish better call Saul.

I’ve got some posh tonic water in for my gin to watch the funeral. It’s what she would’ve wanted.

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 17/09/2022 08:32

Lord yes. The breeches. I have lovely breeches in every size I have ever been and none of them currently fit.

I am doing alot of washing here this weekend. And need to meet with neighbours about parking, unadopted roads and homeowner responsibilities. I'll need a gin and a posh tonic after that.

TightDiamondShoes · 17/09/2022 08:35

@OrangePumpkinLobelia its like you’re in my brain! 😂 enough sizes of jods to open a tack shop (and none fit).

Solosunrise · 17/09/2022 11:03

Gossip, coffee and cats are right up my street! I'll join your wee yard!
I have spent the morning squaring a muck heap. Cheaper and more effective than any gym. And so much more interesting than housework! My last remaining pair of jods found themselves as part of a little mouse nest earlier this summer.
My kitchen's got itself all cluttered again. I can't cook in a cluttered kitchen and I need to do some batch cooking for next week so i supposed that is today's project. Part 2, the cooking, tomorrow.
