We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

@RunningKatie what's in your smug soup?

It's nice to hear about all the tasks getting done! I finally managed to take the tree down and drag it to the curb for city pick-up. I packed up the lights and rinsed off the deck. Rewarded myself with a brownie and ice-cream. Christmas presents from best friend for Havoc have been opened/sorted and all the paper, some cardboard boxes and garbage are all taken out. I used the wand vacuum to clean crumbs from under Havoc's high-chair then between the couch cushions. Things are tidy. There's a load of laundry in the dryer now and I'm thinking about dinner...instead of left-over Christmas dinner I might make pancakes and save the left-overs for tomorrow. Breakfast for dinner seems appealing today.

Peridot1 · 10/01/2023 08:44

I saw a few multiple posts on other threads yesterday @petalpower. Don’t think it’s just you. MN is very slow and laggy at the moment.

Thanks @RunningKatie. She had a liver scan yesterday and was then sent home yesterday evening. Will hopefully speak to her today. I think she realises she is not coping just now but whether she will do what needs doing is another thing. She is incredibly stubborn.

DH moved the boxes to the garage that need to go there but the boxes for the loft are still in the hall. Will at least get them upstairs today. Have to take the dog to the vet for her monthly jab this morning. And it’s raining yet again. Ugh!

Peridot1 · 10/01/2023 08:47

Oh I did a ‘while the kettle is boiling job’ yesterday and cleaned the inside of the microwave! Also took quite a lot of bottles to the bottle bank.

today as well as moving the boxes I need to sort two clothing items to return.

SpiritOfEdna · 10/01/2023 09:04

Morning - everyone sounds like they are having productive days. The comments upthread about HMRC/Tax are nudging me towards checking something on my business accounts that I need to follow up with the accountant. Not looking forward to that, but will progress that today.

So my list for today:

  • Account work
  • Get swimming stuff ready by door early so I don't have an excuse not to go tonight - I'm having lessons on the front crawl.
  • Clear my work desk, it still has the debris from making the fancy dress costume at christmas all over it. I am working from a tiny patch of open space; it's so much nicer when there is space to work.
  • Organise my art stuff ready to do next lesson.

That is enough for me today, hope everyone is well.

petalpower · 10/01/2023 09:32

Going to try to just post once!
The swimming pool is closed due a ‘technical fault’ so no aqua fit today. Today I need to pick up some posters from the printers for a group I’m in and take a parcel to the post office ( a ridiculously small swimming costume to return).
Have a good day everyone.

petalpower · 10/01/2023 19:07

We haven’t seen you for a few days @BadShepherd . Hope everything is ok.How are you doing too @FireworkFluster ? I remember you hadn’t been feeling too good and had a hospital appointment this week.
Productive day here. Very windy and rainy though. Posted my parcel, took some recycling and bought a widget to support a lampshade as DH had broken something on the bedside light. Picked up the posters from the printers, did the ironing and cleaned the bathrooms.

petalpower · 10/01/2023 19:08

How’s your MIL @Peridot1 ?

Peridot1 · 10/01/2023 22:37

She seems ok thanks @petalpower. Spoke with her this evening. She sounds better than I was expecting.

you sound like you got lots done.

We got the boxes of Xmas stuff moved to the landing. All 15 of them. Plus random other stuff that doesn’t fit in boxes. Now it all just needs to go up into the loft.

Also took dog to vet for her monthly jab. And booked my covid booster which I delayed until now. Did some washing and made up spare room for DS’s friend who stays a couple of nights every week for work.

Aria999 · 10/01/2023 23:24

Everyone is on a roll!

I also got the Christmas tree to the curbside today @Mumtobabyhavoc but that was about all.

Otherwise, i am still trying to figure out where all the money goes 😳. So far all i have really achieved is realizing I owe DS school another $2k, which was not a welcome discovery.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/01/2023 01:16

@Aria999 that's quite a surprise! 😬

once the sun goes down it's gets so chilly! Havoc and I were at the playground for about an hour then I only managed 15mins afterward of exercise as the sudden cold really got to me! Oh, well. 15-mins run/walk better than nothing!
Feeling super lazy.... must get dinner on and planning on watching Golden Globe awards even though I have no idea which movies etc are nominated and I likely haven't seen anything anyway! 🤷‍♀️
(I think I'll put laundry on so I can feel productive. 💡)

SnowAndIceLobelia · 11/01/2023 18:55

Hello all.

Hoping that @FireworkFluster is feeling better.

And @BadShepherd

And Thanks to everyone on the thread.

All okay here. I got my oven cleaned today and it is all sparkly and new and lovely. So happy.

That is about all I have achieved! I am classing delegating the oven as my achievement!

Peridot1 · 12/01/2023 08:30

Morning all.

ouch @Aria999. That’s not good!

Happy clean oven @SnowAndIceLobelia! Definitely take it as an achievement!

I am heartily sick of the weather. Wind and rain again! I want to get out walking but won’t go when it’s horrible outside. Which is feeble of me I know.

Today’s tasks are - a conditioning treatment in my hair, change a bed, boxes into the loft, pack up some returns parcels - had two but discovered a few more in DS’s room, unblock sink in DS’s en suite. Plus I have some admin to do re sale of Dad’s house which will hopefully complete tomorrow.

petalpower · 12/01/2023 15:26

A clean oven sounds like a lovely thing @SnowAndIceLobelia . I’ve never had someone do mine but am not great at doing it myself either. Hope the house sale is going smoothly @Peridot1 .
All a bit quiet on here at the moment. Hope everyone is ok.
Today I’ve menu planned and added to the online shop, met a friend for lunch, been to the butchers and greengrocers and checked my seed box for in date veggie seeds to plant this year.

Alltheclouds · 12/01/2023 18:18

Hello! FF here. Another name change :) Sorry I've been awol. Have been feeling quite poorly and challenged with life, and thought I'd get off SM for a bit, but feeling more myself again now.
Thank you for checking in and I too hope @BadShepherd is ok 💐
All still sounding productive around these parts so well done!
I need to get back on it. Currently doing a bit of smug cooking as that had gone by the wayside and we haven't eaten really well since before Christmas.

I really need to spend more time with the horses too!
Hugs all round 💕

SnowAndIceLobelia · 12/01/2023 18:23

Aaaahhhh! So pleased to see you @Alltheclouds !

Sorry you have been feeling poorly. Thanks

Dr Lobelia prescribes nuzzles on pony muzzles. ❤

Alltheclouds · 12/01/2023 19:20

Thank you @SnowAndIceLobelia I will be sure to kiss a pony tomorrow! Well done on getting the oven clean. I was so on it last summer in my house, but I've had my hands full with my beloved family members on top of not feeling great (or maybe it's why!)
Dinner is bubbling away though so I'm happy 😊

petalpower · 12/01/2023 23:02

Ah you’re back @Alltheclouds . Hope you’re starting to feel better and things are also improving for your family too. Dr Petal also prescribes ponies!

Aria999 · 13/01/2023 00:53

Hi @Alltheclouds . Hope you're feeling better.

Today I returned 3 things I shouldn't have bought in the first place, cleaned half the ground floor, put away the remaining Christmas decorations and looked up everything we spent on Amazon since September.

Failed to make smug soup. Again. Concerned about shelf life of vegetables!

Alltheclouds · 13/01/2023 07:17

Good morning! Thank you @petalpower and @Aria999 💐 Small tip for getting on with smug soup is to have ready chopped onions in the freezer. I am bad through and through, because I now buy them chopped and frozen. But when I'm at full capacity I plan to start doing an onion chop session again after the weekly shop. I don't know about anyone else but sometimes having to chop up the blasted onions puts me right off making soup!
Morning @Peridot1 - you have reminded me to book my covid booster. I had flu jab a while back. Been putting off the covid one but it's rife round here now and we've had staff and clients down so I really should. Dh was quite poorly after his jab for a few days, with painful arm too, and i just couldn't face it on top of everything else. Thank you ☺ Thinking of you re the sale!

Alltheclouds · 13/01/2023 07:21

I have heavily pruned my MN so I can't see upsetting things or doom scroll. I am staying firmly in my bubble for now and working on my own circle of influence. Feels better!

Today I plan to give my kitchen a good clean and start up with the kettle boiling jobs again!

Best wishes to all! 🤗

DressingForRevenge · 13/01/2023 07:39

Sneaky name change here and a line from Taylor swift’s album which I’ve been loving recently. No more losing sheep for me! 😉

When I say “dressing for revenge” I mean some days the oodie is set aside…

hurrah for all the Xmas trees and their removal and big boos to forgotten $2k bills.

@Alltheclouds this bug seems to have really knocked you for six, but I hope the pony kisses have helped. When I was I’ll in the summer all I could do was scroll… which then makes you feel mentally defunct too.

I’ve been back at work FT, battling school strikes and have had committee meetings every night this week. And I’m done. Except I’m not because tomorrow I’ve got to get to the supermarket for the first time in 6 weeks, get passport photos done for the kids and buy new sleds as the weather is coming in. I’m tired already. I did however buy a sewing machine case and hope to tidy up my craft corner this weekend.

Alltheclouds · 13/01/2023 08:25

Oh @DressingForRevenge I like the change! I'm glad you are back too! Agree about the mental impact of lurking and scrolling. It is not wholesome for a brain. I am tired just reading your post! I would say i hope you're not overdoing it but that would be patronising so I won't 💐

I've just made my vaccination appointment for this morning. None of the others knocked me sideways like they did DH so I shall go in with a positive mental attitude. My anti vaccine next door neighbour is convinced that i previously had saline jabs 🤐

I should get the kitchen done just in cases, before I go.

petalpower · 13/01/2023 12:12

Oh my word @DressingForRevenge you’ve been very busy. I hope you’ve had time to look after yourself a bit too. Hope your Covid vaccination goes ok @Alltheclouds . My last one made me feel rough (the others were all fine) but DH was absolutely fine.
This morning DD has gone back to uni after about 5 weeks at home. It will be quiet without her but DS is here for the weekend. I always do what my mum used to do when they go back and change and remake their beds so that they’re ready for them coming back again. It’s very cold here but windy so my daughter’s bedlinen is already flapping away on the line! Since she left I’ve weeded my asparagus bed (not a euphemism!), paid a deposit for our holiday cottage and ordered my vegetable seeds ready for spring planting. This afternoon I might go mad and wash my car as it’s absolutely filthy.
Have a good day all!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 13/01/2023 18:57

@petalpower 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Alltheclouds · 14/01/2023 05:49

Made me grin too, @petalpower! Well I'm feeling fine after the covid jab though sporting a very sore shoulder. Weirdly, because I didn't even feel it go in.

Heavy rain and wind again round here. Glorious sunshine yesterday. Managed a spotless kitchen and pony kisses.

I've joined a horse related course which I'm quite excited about, except it requires a facebook profile. It's very locked down though and I'm planning to keep it just for that. New year, new thing!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!
