Daily Project - Round Two!

We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

@BuenoSucia - no we don’t speak Gaelic/Irish as standard. We learn it in school and then most of us promptly forget it and never use it again. There are Irish speaking areas throughout the country called Gaeltacht areas where Irish is generally spoken.

Solosunrise · 03/09/2022 16:35

Welcome to the new posters ( meant to tag you but I'm bound to forget someone 😩)

Pleased to hear that basking sharks aren't man eaters as i really enjoy a good sea swim, and DH has been trying to scare me!

My lovely boy and his equally lovely young lady have made it home safely ❤

@BuenoSucia I'm pleased you're on the up! I hope it continues Flowers

I've sat on my arse all afternoon reading MN on my kindle, where I can't post but I can read AIBU and i can only say 🤯 at some of the posts on there. But as always, MN is full of varied and interesting points of view. On balance i really like it but i do need to stay off AIBU as it raises my blood pressure, despite my efforts to embrace Stoicism. There are some amazing and articulate and supportive posters though.

The house is back together after our guests, and I'm off to do an hour in the garden.

Hey all! Hope you're all having a lovely weekend! Today, i have begun to declutter my wardrobe! Eventually I'd like to empty it completely and repaint the walls (proper old fashioned built in wardrobe) I think it's a week's worth of work if i do a bit each day. Need to do same with the larder.

Afternoon from the sofa!
Last day of the holidays, I've returned a pair of shoes that do not fit and cannot get any replacements. Thankfully dc2 has shoes from last term that are fine, but over the summer has become conscious that they are not on trend so I need to sort that. I was very much a not on-trend child and felt it badly.

I've got to portion up some smug soup for the freezer.
I've started a list of To-Do's on my phone, it's 3 pages currently, but that's because I'm in the cross one off, add another two stage. Hopefully at some stage the balance will tip in my favour!

LateSummerLobelia · 05/09/2022 10:26

Morning!

I am successfully delegating again as have a gardener in to give the garden a quick tidy up.

I wrote a list of projects yesterday and am determined to focus on one thing at a time. This coming month it will be all about the garden. (Although I need to chase the upholsterers again.

Peridot1 · 05/09/2022 11:10

Morning all.

I think I’d be afraid to write up a list @RunningKatie! But I think I might need to!

I’m still in Dublin but fly home tomorrow. Today’s task is to start getting the paperwork ready to go to the solicitor. And focus my mind on when I need to come back over. And organise to get the garden cut back and tidied up here.

Skethylita · 06/09/2022 05:57

Morning all. Back to work since yesterday and it's been a very long and tiring one. I need to get used to waking up 4 hours earlier than I do over summer again 😂

Besides a mountain of paperwork I need to tidy the living room and clean the bathroom today. I'm also trying to shape up a bit, so a half hour exercise will need to get in there, too.

Solosunrise · 06/09/2022 07:42

Morning all! Today I'm being inspired by all your posts as I've run out of mojo to think of my own! Not that there's nothing to do round here, but quite the opposite 😅
I have today off work thankfully and i have some errands to run this morning, but then i too need to sit down and compile a to do list/project list.
My trouble is i let what is urgent get in the way of what's important when i get overwhelmed with all the things (possibe 'hangover' from what felt like a whirlwind summer)
What exercise do you do @Skethylita?

Morning all.

Heading back home today so this morning is packing, quick tidy round, putting on towel wash etc.

Didn’t get as much done with paperwork for house sale yesterday for various reasons but did get some sorted.

BuenoSucia · 06/09/2022 08:34

Morning everyone! My one small job today is to try and adjust the thermostat on the boiler - I suspect that’s been my one job before, but I also suspect it’s having a financial impact, so I shouldn’t really ignore it.

im being pathetic right now. I joined this thread at the time I started this new job and now it’s looking increasingly likely that it’s not going to be a long-term thing due to my health. Doc is phoning this morning to get me a sick note which puts me in a position I never expected to be in and I feel quite ridiculous that after 10 years I headed back into the workplace only to stumble and fall (literally). I’m sleeping up to 16 hrs a day and finding stuff very confusing - yesterday I have a phone number I had 20 years ago when I lived abroad. 🙄

RunningKatie · 06/09/2022 14:55

Afternoon, 5 mins quiet before dc1 returns from school.
Today I've done a charity shop drop-off, 2 bags both of which have been in the car under 2 months. Result!
Also dropped off 2 library books, both started and neither finished.
And read the first and last chapters of the book club book for this evening.
There's a theme here, I have grand plans, and usually faff and run out of time.

What exercise do you do @Skethylita?

I know the feeling, although one of my resolutions is to just tackle what needs doing immediately and so far (over the last two days I've tried it 😂) it works and actually makes me a lot calmer.

I do a bit of weight training, have a stepper and an exercise bike, too - so it really depends. Didn't get much done today, though, as I was out of the house for work for almost 12 hours and then had to carry on working another 2 at home, so only a little weight training from the morning and I am way too tired now.

Solosunrise · 07/09/2022 06:22

Are you a teacher, perchance, @Skethylita ? That sounds like a hefty workload!
I have signed back up to flylady, because I find her little missions very calming.
Did manage to clear the bottom of my wardrobe yesterday.
Hope you had a smooth trip back @Peridot1 I hope the sale goes smoothly. @RunningKatie you sound so like me when my family were small!
@BuenoSucia will you accept a cyber hug? BrewCake You have retained your sense of humour even though it all sounds very distressing Flowers
I have an outside painting job to do, which i put off when it was so hot. And now it's raining! We've had a couple of decent storms though. Did they come your way @LateSummerLobelia?

Wishing you all a good day!

OP posts:
BuenoSucia · 07/09/2022 06:54

Flylady is horrid! Every. Single. Bloody. Day. She gives you a task - and what’s with the evening sink routine? 😂

returning unread books to the library you say @RunningKatie ? <deletes reservation available emails without collecting> 😳

life isn’t all bad - my view this morning AND it’s visible through the streaky window.

I’ve got a man coming today (ooer) to cut the grass and hoping that’ll be the last time for this year. Does it count as MY job if I pay someone else to do it?

Daily Project - Round Two!
LateSummerLobelia · 07/09/2022 07:00

Morning. @BuenoSucia a hug from me as well. I am so sorry you are ill. Thanks

We did have a lovely storm @Solosunrise and it appears to have rained all night as well. I am so pleased for the garden but we also have some outdoor painting to do which this has scuppered!

I am working out of the house today so need to think of a quick project for this evening. I might clean all the bathroom mirrors.

LateSummerLobelia · 07/09/2022 07:02

That view is absolutely stunning @BuenoSucia !

It defintiely counts of you pay someone else- at least I hope so as I do a good line in delegating. Grin

Peridot1 · 07/09/2022 09:12

Gorgeous view @BuenoSucia! Sorry your health issues may mean you can’t work. That must all be so stressful. Do you have a diagnosis yet?

And yes it definitely counts as one of your jobs to pay some else to do it - you organised it after all!

I got back fine yesterday. Today I need to put away my stuff that I unpacked and do some washing. Need to do a general tidy round this morning before cleaners come later. Then I might sit and do a list of what needs doing. Although to be honest that sounds a bit scary!

BuenoSucia · 07/09/2022 10:40

Grass cutter currently hard at work and I’ve got the money ready. Job done!

@Peridot1 no formal diagnosis yet, it’s all been a bit or a twat. Emergency CT scan a couple of weeks ago ruled out tumour/stroke which is good - but everyone leaning towards MS. Which has made me very CROSS. There have been a few incidents over the years pointing to it and I was seeing a private neurologist just before first lockdown who said he’d see me soon as he “didn’t see this covid thing coming to anything”. Obviously I never heard from him again. 😂 seeing another neurologist in a fortnight, but it’s frustrating because had the diagnosis been made back in 2020 when I was “in” neurology and being tested etc., I’d have been on drugs which may have prevented this rather severe episode.

apparently coffee, fags and spicy food aren’t the type of drugs we should be looking at? 🤷‍♀️

the view is indeed fantastic and I’ve spent many a morning sat with my coffee taking it all in.

Peridot1 · 07/09/2022 12:42

That is indeed frustrating @BuenoSucia. I have two friends whose teenage daughters were diagnosed with MS in the last couple of years. They both seem to be managing very well with medication.

Aria999 · 07/09/2022 14:27

Wow @BuenoSucia gorgeous view. I hope you get some useful answers on your health soon.

Inspired by @RunningKatie I am returning the two library books we have had in the house for most of the year.

They have stopped doing fines which is terrible for my book return discipline. Then eventually they decide you're not returning it and charge you a stiff replacement fee with no warning!

Solosunrise · 08/09/2022 06:20

Gorgeous view @BuenoSucia 😍 Happy to agree to disagree on Flylady 😘 I've done it on and off long enough

OP posts:
Solosunrise · 08/09/2022 06:25

Bloody phone keeps jumping today! I've been doing it long enough to utilise what works for me and discard the rest. The emails are very annoying but i like her 'flight plan' 😊

I thought spicy food, fags and coffee were the holy grail of medicine. My friend with MS swears by cbd oil ( and also all the drugs!)
Best wishes for a speedy sort out of all the symptoms. Scary times, I'm sure.

OP posts:
OrangePumpkinLobelia · 08/09/2022 06:49

Sparkly new seasonal namechange here. :)

I need to start recycling some of the old ones.

Hope you feel better @BuenoSucia and can soon sort out your symptoms. Thanks

BuenoSucia · 08/09/2022 07:42

Morning all! I shall be fine and I’m delighted to say I spent the majority of my youth blowing all my money on horses and skiing, so I’ve done enough “balance” activities for a lifetime. If it gets really bad I’ll “pimp my ride” and get a souped up chair. 😂

@Peridot1 that’s awful - so young. 😔

My darling children appear to have covid - I know nobody’s testing anymore, but one of their classmates did and it was positive. So a pyjamas, reading and Netflix day I think.

today’s small job = changing the lightbulbs to new LED ones. Being this far north the lights are on a lot from now on.

RunningKatie · 09/09/2022 13:14

Hope the covid stays contained @BuenoSucia and you manage to avoid it.
I'm in negotiations with dh, his work phone screen needs fixing. If i add it to my to-do list then I can have it when he gets the replacement soon. He is too cunning for words! 😀
