We've filled up the last thread, so here's the next one!
All welcome- in an attempt to get a thing done around the home (or elsewhere) each day.
Ideally the sort of thing that will stay done- at least for a bit!

Today I have washed my shower curtain, and my 'boiling the kettle job' was to empty and clean my kitchen bin :)

Today I have finally unpacked the new router, and being cunning - I will only update devices with the new password in exchange for jobs being done 😁
I am off to exchange some PJs for dd. PIL always size down, never have receipts and generally it becomes my problem.

SpiritOfEdna · 27/12/2022 14:57

Hello lovely reading about everyone’s Christmases. We were very quiet, at eldest sibling for lunch, a round of Articulate and our annual made up panto. I was still making the one and only costume on Xmas morning - thank god for iron on wonder webbing 🤣🤣🤣. I am now home alone for the day, and it is blissful.

Trying to work up the energy to take the dog out for a walk - she is stretched flat out and snoozing next to me, filthy from this morning’s walk (and on the cushion I spent ages on getting the dye out of it) but if I say the word park she will be up like a shot, I could probably do with a quick walk myself!

My pyjamas haven’t arrived yet; am so looking forward to them arriving.

I am working tomorrow, so am gearing myself up for new projects.

Right shoes on and dog out!

Afternoon!

I did the tip run and have another scheduled for Thursday. This time using DH's car as it has more boot room.

I have re-purposed the bread bin from using it as a receptacle for elderly pet medicine and spare phone chargers and it is now a proper bread bin with bread contained within it.

Tomorrow I need to vacuum my car boot out and plan to go to B&Q to buy some trellis as am planning on growing climbing geraniums up a boundary wall.

petalpower · 27/12/2022 17:06

What a gorgeous dog @SpiritOfEdna !
Very impressed at the tip run on a bank holiday @SnowAndIceLobelia .
My little jobs today have been to order a new feather duster, book a Sainsbury’s delivery for after the new year, do a couple of loads of washing and change the bed in the guest room. Now sat in front of the log burner watching Celebrity Masterchef whilst drinking a cocktail!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/12/2022 00:58

Does anyone remember the Dust Buster?
I recently purchased a Shark wand vacuum and it works great! I use it to clean under Havoc's high-chair after meals and to clean between couch cushions. I'm going to use it to vacuum the car out later. 😁💡

Mumtobabyhavoc · 28/12/2022 01:00

@SpiritOfEdna that's your dog? I though a fuzzy couch cushion! 😭🤦‍♀️ Awwww 😍

Aria999 · 28/12/2022 08:22

DS developed what looks like pink eye on the way to Scotland yesterday.

Today's task, find a pharmacist and see if they can give me anything for it!

Peridot1 · 28/12/2022 08:47

Morning all.

Gorgeous dog @SpiritOfEdna. And your pyjamas look lovely too!

ah @Aria999! Just what you need! Hope you get something.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - You’ve reminded me that our dogs used to sit under my nephew’s high chair whenever he visited. They learned pretty quickly that he was a source of dropped food! Didn’t need a vacuum!

I had told DH I was having the day ‘off’ yesterday and just relaxing and doing my jigsaw etc. He kept referring to me being on strike. While I was on ‘strike’ I loaded and unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher 3 times, did 2 loads of laundry, walked the dog, vacuumed, tidied off the table after guests the night before, cleaned the kitchen and tidied and vacuumed the living room. I did manage to have a relaxing afternoon starting my jigsaw and reading a magazine and some of my book.

Our cleaners are back in this morning so I need to do a bit of a tidy around and get the two guest bedrooms tidy so they can clean them. My sister, BIL, niece and nephew arrive tomorrow for a few days. Also have some laundry to do. Also contemplating a trip to the garden centre to see if they have any nice Christmas decorations left in the sale. I’ll have to sneak that past DH!

I also need to take a box of bottles to a bottle bank. We’ve more than filled the two we have and will go through many more bottles while my sister is here! Our recycling collection is not until next week.

Have a good day all.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 28/12/2022 08:48

Oh no @Aria999 ! I hope you can find something. That will be so sore for the poor little pet. Hope everything is okay. Thanks

Your room look so peaceful @SpiritOfEdna

I was thinking about dust busters just last night when i was trying to get crumbs off the dining room tablecloth!

Now- asking the Daily Project hive mind. (If that's okay!)

My boundary wall. It is quite large. It is old Victorian pale yellow brick and I currently have two pale cream climbing roses (in pots) on either side of the wall. Do you think white/cream climbing geraniums will be too much of the same sort of colour or I should break it up? The house brick trim is red so I could have a red and cream mix. I'm not that great at colour combos I think. We are quite mild where we are so we have geraniums flower all through winter it seems (a hosue down the road has a huge wall of still flowering pink which is what inspired me). I might not be able to physically buy the geranoums, but am planning ahead......

I'd be most grateful for thoughts!!

SnowAndIceLobelia · 28/12/2022 08:52

That is quite a busy 'strike day' @Peridot1 !

SnowAndIceLobelia · 28/12/2022 08:58

(Please excuse typos!)

Peridot1 · 28/12/2022 09:17

I think the red would be lovely @SnowAndIceLobelia. As you say it would break it up. Although keeping it along the white/cream palette could be nice too. I love red geraniums though. They are so cheerful.

Aria999 · 28/12/2022 15:36

Can you do us a picture @SnowAndIceLobelia ?

Aria999 · 28/12/2022 15:38

Lol @Peridot1 your idea of a day off is quite energetic! Did you intend to do all of that or did it just kind of happen?

I got some eye drops for DS. I even persuaded him to have them put in his eyes (this was not an easy task).

Currently failing to have my after lunch nap because coughing too much. I hope my aged dad doesn't get all these lurgies ☹️

I am on day 8 of mine so am hoping it is more dramatic than infectious by now, fingers crossed 🤞

Peridot1 · 28/12/2022 16:21

Well it all needed doing @Aria999. We had people for dinner the night before so although we had out one dishwasher load through there were a few more to go. Table was full of glasses etc. I kind of have a system for doing it all interspersed with lots of sit downs with cups of tea!

SpiritOfEdna · 28/12/2022 16:58

I would think white/cream geraniums @SnowAndIceLobelia but a mix of red in also sounds lovely (I’m no help!!!)

I worked today but grabbed the opportunity to work out my finances for the year. Very dull but necessary. The loft conversion won’t be happening any time soon!

Took the dog for a groom this morning, but a hour running in the park has muddied her up again, she’s sparko already 🤣 but she still smells delicious.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 28/12/2022 17:03

I could go completely wild and put some blue plambago in there as well. very Jubilee. But I have never managed to ever grow plumabgo, despite the fact they are meant to be idiot-proof.

Hope your DS is okay @Aria999 and your dad does not get the lurgies as well. It's so hard especially when you are so far away and this is the chance to see loved ones.

She is a very cute dog @SpiritOfEdna !

Sit downs with tea a very good move @Peridot1 !

SnowAndIceLobelia · 29/12/2022 11:07

Aria999 · 28/12/2022 15:36

Can you do us a picture @SnowAndIceLobelia ?

Hi @Aria999 the bricks are absolutely identical to this pic. London hammersmith bricks apparently! (And I gasped at how expensive they seem to be... my house seems to be worth a fortune in bricks alone!).

I am now thinking of a riot of colour- creams, yellow, reds and blues. I;ll charge my camera up and take a photo of the actual bricks when i find the charger. It has to be said our bricks are more aged with alot more moss on them. I have managed to get DH to agree to putting the treliis up, but i am afraid i still have not gone to buy it.

I did however do the second trip run and managed to slice 3 of my fingers open on broken terracotta. DH got really grumpy about this as I did not use the gardening gloves he bought me (I have no idea where they are). I also saw that our neighbour was having their oven cleaned so snaffled the very lovely young woman doing that when she came out to her van and have booked her for the 11th january.

So I feel like I have significantly over achieved this morning and nopw need a lie down!

Hope everyone is well.

Daily Project - Round Two!
Aria999 · 29/12/2022 12:29

Hmm yes those look quite creamy so I think colour would be pretty.

I think I would personally go for yellows and oranges.

Aria999 · 29/12/2022 12:29

Or purple.

petalpower · 29/12/2022 15:37

I agree with@Aria999 about the flower colours @SnowAndIceLobelia . I think something warm toned in darker cream, yellow and orange would look nice and be a bridge between the paler bricks and the red brick I think you mentioned before.
How is everyone today? We had friends for dinner last night and they stayed. Next set of friends come tonight for buffet style food (last night was Greek themed!) so I’ve been cooking and bed changing like a mad woman.

RunningKatie · 29/12/2022 16:04

DDog and I are lying on the sofa. I've repainted a wall he loves to shake his doggy head against, and also taken the dc to spend their book tokens.
I got a generous garden centre voucher from old job, I'm discussing trellis and clematis with dh. Our garden is a north facing slope and I feel we need something with a bit of height in the sunny top. Planning for summer already.

Peridot1 · 30/12/2022 08:15

Morning all

Busy day yesterday getting sorted for my sister and her family arriving and of course we stayed up way too late drinking way too much and now my head hurts. Dishwasher is unloaded and reloaded and on again already. House smells of curry.

I think I will need a long rest when they leave!

MarcelEtCeleste · 30/12/2022 13:50

I’m slightly struggling to motivate myself this morning. Kids are entertaining themselves and I’m just enjoying the downtime too much to want to get out and do stuff.

The run-up to Christmas was frantic and delayed by sickness, so I’ve really slummed it this week and don’t feel a jot guilty!

I’m thinking I’d better ease myself into it though, or next week will be harsh!

BadShepherd · 30/12/2022 16:26

Oh god - now i want a Greek buffet! 😁

I made and froze about 10 gallons of smug soup yesterday, removed the tree and set the eufy to work.

We went around to a friend’s house I don’t even recall which day now - started off with mini bottles of fizz and graduated to student style cocktails… if I’d not discreetly poured my last one down the sink and left early I’d have been more than a little tender. When do we grow up? Asking for a friend…

I’ve been quite weepy today about the future and you all need to give me a swift kick up the arse as I’ve been feeling wistful about “the one that got away” - which is insane because for all I know he could be a massive Andrew Tait fan these days. 🤮

I need to move my chest of drawers in my bedroom tomorrow and find a new home for the printer… because I’m using the disconnected printer as an excuse for being behind on admin.

Today I bought pastel-coloured highlighters and I expect them to transform my life and make me a better person. Guaranteed right?

But tonight, smug soup from veg I failed to cook at Xmas and a Netflix film. And maybe a wee tiny barely noticeable Jack Daniels.
