Would you have empathy if a drug or drink driver killed a member of your family.

Agreed @SaSally090807.

I'm sure most drink/drug drivers have experienced some form of trauma but that still does not excuse their actions.

Just because she has been the public eye doesn't mean she would have been given a get out of jail free card.

I'm sorry for her trauma and her DC. That is all.

Its fairly unusual for a male homosexual to abuse a female/female child

Not impossible but homosexual men tend to abuse males (if they are going to be abusers)

And I note that the brother committed suicide not long after his father's death

Abusers don’t care, they just abuse.

BringMeTea · 12/08/2022 21:15

Very very sad end to a troubled life. RIP.

strawberriesarenot · 12/08/2022 21:16

I hope she is at peace at last.
She had an absolutely tragic early life.

bellac11 · 12/08/2022 21:16

I think the response on here would be very different if it was a man.

UneFoisAuChalet · 12/08/2022 21:16

I will always remember her as Vicky/Marley Love Hudson Cory etc from Another World. My best friend and I would jump on our bikes from the park, tennis, swimming, wherever we were to get back home for 2pm to watch her. You made a couple of preteens back in the summer of ‘88 very happy. RIP Anne.

torquewench · 12/08/2022 21:17

I Don't recall seeing any of her work.

Theres no excuse for DUI.

Sad for everyone involved.

JustAnotherManicMomday · 12/08/2022 21:17

Sorry but she literally did it to herself. She could have killed innocent people. Nothing excuses getting behind the wheel in that state. What a horrible way to go.

35965a · 12/08/2022 21:17

I read about her life, she had a very unstable upbringing and a lot of tragedy, there’s a lot online about it as she released a memoir. Then to die the way she did, I do feel so bad for her, drugs or not. Lucky that nobody else got taken out with her I suppose.

If I could ban one comment on MN. FFS.

The entire world is different if you're a man. So yes, of course it's different. If you want her called a cunt/bitch I'm sure Reddit or the rest of the internet will oblige.

Abusers don’t care, they just abuse.

Abusers have target victims, usually in line with their sexuality.

There are always exceptions which is why I said its unusual

Part of my job is completing risk assessments on parents (and other family members) where there has been sexual abuse/allegations

Of course she did it to herself. Do you have no empathy for people who take their own lives either ?

She had an incredibly tragic life so I wish her a very peaceful sleep where she’s no longer in mental and physical pain.

Definitely agree. Hope she is at peace

No I dont do name calling (unlike many on this site)

I dont know why you would leap to such aggressive presentation.

She acted like an annihilator,, to herself and anyone else who might have been in the way, luckily there wasnt

The difference is that male trauma and depression is often minimised on this site and I can imagine the reaction if this was a man

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/08/2022 21:25

Well done making the death of a woman and the risk to another women about poor men.

Minimised my arse.

So he may have been bisexual then? Are you actually trying to imply Anne Heche and her sister were lying? FFS

Scrapologist · 12/08/2022 21:32

I'm sorry for her children, and it's terrible that she had a tragic past (like so many others who don't go on to put others' lives at risk in this way), but honestly, the ones I keep thinking of are the people whose home she burned when she crashed into it. Still, what's done is done, and it could have been much worse.

CatsAreCrackers · 12/08/2022 21:33

I don't know this person, have just looked up her work and don't think I've seen any of it.

I feel sorry for any victim of abuse, I was one myself so I therefore feel for this lady. We cannot know how troubled she was and how that really affected her and I hope she is now at peace. However, it was her choice to take cocaine and then drive. Presumably she could have afforded a taxi or even to have a driver, then she would be free to take cocaine and still be safe. It was pure luck that thank goodness she didn't take anybody with her.

I feel desperately sorry for her children who will have to deal with the pain of losing their mother and the fallout of her actions.

What I do find interesting and slightly hypocritical is that there was a poster on here recently who had got several speeding tickets and was worried about losing her licence. She had her backside handed to her and people were much harsher than they are being to this celebrity, telling her she could have killed someone etc and hoping she did lose her licence and any subsequent loss of her job because she deserved it.

I absolutely loved Another World. Have such fond memories of me, my sister and my mum all getting together to watch it. I loved her in AllyMcBeal as well. It's just all so sad

Badger1970 · 12/08/2022 21:34

Demons from your past don't excuse you from wrecking other peoples' lives. Driving at 90mph while high on cocaine? Be kind my arse. It's luck that she's the only one on a mortuary slab today.

BlodynGwyn · 12/08/2022 21:39

Lesina · 12/08/2022 20:03

Aren’t you lovely.

I'm thinking of the woman who was sitting in her house as Ann Heche drove 30 feet into it at 90mph. The accident set the house on fire and the owner was injured - very lucky she wasn't killed, or had children inside the house. Heche also missed hitting a pedestrian by only a few feet as she raced out of narrow alley.

scarletisjustred · 12/08/2022 21:39

I feel sorry for the woman whose house she destroyed. I feel sorry for her sons.

YouCantSpellAmericaWithoutErica · 12/08/2022 21:47

It’s sad for everyone involved: AH, her family- especially her sons- and the poor lady who’s house and belongings are destroyed.

It's all very well saying that you don’t feel bad for someone dying who was drink driving, but it is tragic- how can it not be? She paid the ultimate price for her reckless behaviour and she was clearly very troubled and unwell. I hope she’s found the peace in death she didn’t seem to in life.

Bananasalad · 12/08/2022 21:53

Rip Anne. Clearly a troubled individual and not the actions of someone in a good place mentally.

Metabigot · 12/08/2022 21:55

Can't imagine what mental state she was in to be driving in a residential area at that speed.

Cocaine doesn't usually make people go all out crazy like that there must have been something else going on with her.

Amazed she was alive during the rescue after being in the burning car for 30 minutes according to eyewitnesses
