What has mumsnet MADE you buy?

So when my almost one year old was a tiny newborn and I was up at ungodly hours I found myself on a thread which was something along the lines of what has mumsnet MADE you buy.

A load of people said a Eufy so I obviously brought one in my sleep deprived state. 😂 No regrets though!

So I thought I’d make another thread inspired by it to see if there’s anything else I should be buying!

Hmmm...I've bought far too much stuff...

Lumea - good but never completely got rid off all my hairs, prob down to my technique though.
Babyliss big hair - pretty good but leaves frizzy bits on my top layer of hair
The Ordinary - crap
Aldi toner - like paint stripper
Topshop Jamie jeans - still going strong years later
Silk pillowcase - did nothing for me just made my face sweaty
Decathlon trail running shorts - love them
Le Pliage bag - love it but it doesn't get much use now I wfh
Expensive camel wool coat - hardly ever worn due to wfh and few classy events any more. Plus I don't think the colour suits me.
Introduced me to Cos and Other Stories which are now 2 of my favourite stores.
I also tried to improve my image via the 'how to look expensive' thread but after spending a fortune have realized it's not a look for me 🙁

So many things:
philips lumea
water tooth floss thingy
dyson hover
revlon one step
slow cooker
Triumph minimizer bra

Tbc'd

Can someone link to the neckfan please?

Haha everything on the Xmas threads 😅

Orchidflower1 · 24/07/2022 18:16

Hey @Lndnmummy 👋🏽

I don’t have a link for a neck fan - there are several on Amazon though.

However, I can recommend this hand fan 10000%. It really keeps it charge and is vv quiet. I sat with it on my lap last week in a meeting and it wasn’t heard. Sadly at the moment it’s out of stock but JL are very good at emailing when it comes into stock. You made need to log your interest for each colour though.

Rubber broom for getting up dog hair. Works really well!

PinkTyger · 24/07/2022 18:22

@Lndnmummy I think it's this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B08FC8N6XY/ref=oxsccsavedimagee2?smid=AAVIH6T3WPLLP&psc=1

A fucking plastic raven.

I would love to know the story behind the plastic raven!

I actually own a plastic raven too, but nothing to do with Mumsnet (I found it in my back garden, weirdly).

I can add Zoflora and Perfume Parlour (Jo Malone dupes).

Saniner1 · 24/07/2022 23:22

Vileda Squirty Mop - it’s brilliant!

Annoyedwithmyself · 24/07/2022 23:24

A heated blanket. Obv no use at the minute but I absolutely adore it in winter

Saniner1 · 24/07/2022 23:25

Oh and the Karcher Window Vac thingy, which is a godsend on our landing window (single glazed) in winter.

Quite a few bits from the S&B board.

Most recently the Milani rose "transformational" lip balm which was a complete dud.

Most successfully, Korean exfoliating washcloths.

You've just reminded me that I also bought some Korean cloths but have never used them!

Lightning020 · 25/07/2022 07:38

A Ninja Dual air fryer. Excellent invention.

TheMess · 25/07/2022 08:11

A DIY Kitchen
Eufy (although we've been through a few replacements now...)
The MN scarf
Aldi dupes of varying success
Rubber broom for dog hair

Wella wavy and curly hair mousse - a game changer after spending ££££££s on stuff. It was recommended on a recent thread and I got some from Morrisons last week and it is amazing. Brings out my natural waves and isn't cloggy or sticky. So THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Needsomethingtoread · 05/08/2022 08:03

Which one was this? I can’t find a good one atm

HRTQueen · 05/08/2022 08:09

Revlon brush hairdryer. It is excellent I have spent hundreds on products to help manage my very thick frizzy hair. Now looks like I have just had it professionally dried every time easy and quick to use

Airfryer I really like it

Steam mop waste of money

L’Oréal Wonder Water was very damaging to my hair was great for a few weeks. I recommended it to friends unfortunately it’s damaged their hair too

Wooden toast tongs - great

just ordered some Korean cloths

lots of other things can’t remember them all now

Agreed on the Korean exfoliating washcloths, won’t use anything else.

Me too! There were so many recommends on here I ordered one and it arrived Monday. I've used it twice and I've been thrilled by how much better my very fine but prone to fluffiness has been.

I also bought the Wella Fusion shampoo and conditioner to use as well. My hair has never looked so smooth and shiny when doing it myself.

Best money I've spent in a long time.

And so many other things. Stuff for camping. Most recently making me consider a whippet instead of a greyhound!

My big shouting day book - much loved.

So, did you get a whippet ?
What are your thoughts?
Any photos ? 😁
Asking as I am thinking of a either a greyhound or whippet.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 05/08/2022 20:28

How is the Revlon brush dryer different to a Babyliss Big Hair? I have one of those and hated it. Just couldn't get my hands right, it always seemed to be rotating in the wrong direction.

HRTQueen · 06/08/2022 09:09

The revlon brush dryer does rotate (my hair got caught up in the babyliss as it so easily knots)
