What has mumsnet MADE you buy?

So when my almost one year old was a tiny newborn and I was up at ungodly hours I found myself on a thread which was something along the lines of what has mumsnet MADE you buy.

A load of people said a Eufy so I obviously brought one in my sleep deprived state. 😂 No regrets though!

So I thought I’d make another thread inspired by it to see if there’s anything else I should be buying!

I can recommend Wonder Water. I got some in one of those Boots selection boxes and it's great for reducing frizz.

Newtons chiropodist sponge - good
Scented pencils - good but I can’t bring myself to sharpen and use them
Velvetiser - for DD but I’ve used it too, good
Bubble tea - for DD, she loves it
Books - the unexpected joy of the ordinary, great
Gifts (usually from the Christmas bargains thread) - various, mostly good

Thank you to all of the posters!

Still meaning to try the Korean facecloths and that cranberry and cashew loaf I had forgotten about but read the thread at the time!

Zoflora 🤢revolting stuff!
A long handled scrubby thing that was going to effortlessly clean my grouting. Useless .
It’s not gone well !

Honestly, nothing. You see the same stuff recommended on here constantly.

I always feel a bit bemused by the threads started just to say a person tried something (a shampoo, a towel,a dress a company in general etc) once or a couple of times and loved it, and that yielded tens of people ordering immediately with minimal information about whether it will work for them, just on the basis the OP loved it.

Maybe i'm just a miser and a bit dull but what works others doesn't mean it will work for me and I don't tend to make impulse purchases generally.

Eufy - was rubbish and I returned.

Velvetiser - used daily to froth milk for coffees.

Nigel Slater Christmas Chronicles - love this, read it every year.

Zoflora - I use this diluted and spritz over carpets to freshen up between proper cleans and also a capful in the washing machine when washing with the eco egg (also got after recommended on here.)

Molke bra - I now won't wear anything else but this is clearly a love/hate thing. Had to try a couple of sizes before I found the one that works best for me but they're now a gamechanger.

Turtledoves fingerless gloves - love them (and their neckwarmers.)

So, so many things off the Christmas bargain threads. Had some brilliant bargains and ideas for presents off there over the years.

Oh and Lucy & Yak Alexa trousers - they're ok but found the colour a bit off after a few washes and the waistband is extremely high almost up to my chest.

Oh, I'd forgotten about the Karcher Window vac. Used it about 5 times, waste of money for us.

Lumea: Success
Boots curl creme: Does curl hair well but doesn't smell great so 50-50
Steam mop: absolute shite
Footner: does work but a faff to time it before you need your feet on show
Flexitol: eh
Babyliss big hair: FREAKIN AMAZING!!
Keratin hair treatment (the original Amazon one): absolute winner shame they changed the formula
Fitflop: Too spongy and not comfortable it's always recommended but just doesn't work for my feet
Snag: shit. I don't understand the hype at all.
Maiden Form shapewear: really good even better than spanx
Boob or bust: life changing
Panache bra and Freya: ditto
Moon cup: never got on with it
Dior nail varnish described as nails like a freshly scrubbed kitten: epic disappointment for the price I could have just used sally hansen's for the same effect on a budget
Silky pillow cover: YES!

Why does he do that? I left two weeks after I'd read it after 20 plus years of abuse. Thankyou Mumsnet.

My beloved Velvetiser. It's on all the time through the winter.

Yorkshire flavoured teas. I never drink tea but love these when I'm feeling unwell.

IKEA antelop high chair.

Haakaas for breastfeeding.

Love every one of these things!

Slow cooker- so useful. I actually have 2 now.

Pinks stuff- shit

Shampoo bars- took some trial and error but found one that worked. No more greasy looking hair from build up.

Reusable pads- life changing. Wish id known sooner.

Memstrual cup- again life changing. So glad I tried one out.

How to talk so kids will listen book- shit. Made my very young dd angry for some bizarre reason. Techniques did not work at the time

Sainsbury ketchup- its nicer than heinz. Far less vinegars.

Wine/cheese/sliced meats from aldi akd lidl- definately not for me. So disappointed.

I bought an instant pot based on MN threads. Read the instructions but really didn't have time to get to grips with the 'experiment until it works for you' element so never actually took it out of the package. Then suddenly they were sold out everywhere so I sold it on ebay. The auction went to £80 more than I'd paid for it. No regrets.
Weird springy bendy things to pluck my face. Ouch!

Turtle doves are pricey but lovely and I bought them for me, dd1 and my mum who loves them. They have good sales and discounts too.
