It's raining here (Devon). And has been cloudy all morning.

Maybe it will pick up a bit later.

Highest “official” temp so far is 36.4 at Santon Downham in Suffolk, about 30 mins from me.

ZenNudist · 18/07/2022 14:56

Hot in Manchester but pretty nice. Its been cloudy and rained so far this summer so not complaining about the one hot day.

CrapBag39 · 18/07/2022 14:56

36 Here in SE London right now. I feel sick and wobbly and have been in the shade all day. Hot weather just messes me up.

Currently 34c in Jersey... and that's with a bit of a sea breeze (thank the Lord for living on an island!) so feels slightly less furnace-like than it might do in the middle of the UK 😓

WomensLandArmy · 18/07/2022 14:57

C 30 degrees in Exeter, inside my house downstairs is 22 degrees as we are NW facing.

MrsMacIsBack · 18/07/2022 14:58

Are people quoting temperatures taken in the sun or the shade - the temperature taken in the shade being the one most comparable to the official temperatures, which are taken in the shade?

Thank you @restedbutexhausted and @ErrolTheDragon 🌻

Cloudy and rained in Manchester? Where exactly? I’m slowly melting here in MCR

jaundicedoutlook · 18/07/2022 15:01

We’ll it’s been 36 degrees and off the scale humidity here in Japan this evening, but checking the weather site for where we usually live in the U.K. and it is expected to top out at 32. However, here we’ve got wall to wall aircon and the houses are set up to cope with it, whereas back home I expect by now I’d be putting ice cubes in front of the fan and the cat would be hiding in the shade looking sorry for itself.

ImJustNotMeAnymore · 18/07/2022 15:02

34 in the shade in sunny East Anglia.

I don’t think Geographically we are that far apart- but 36 degs C here ( North Somerset/ South Gloucestershire)

I'm on the Mendips. TBH we seem to have our own ecosystem here. 😂

Sammilouwho · 18/07/2022 15:05

It's about 34° outside here in my part of West Yorkshire, inside the house it's about 26°.

I have a very grumpy 6 month old in just a nappy and a 4 year old that wants to run around outside, it's too warm! Can't wait for some rain on Wednesday (hopefully)

MrsMacIsBack · 18/07/2022 15:06

I agree, @elfycat - we're the same.

unicormb · 18/07/2022 15:07

SleepingAgent · 18/07/2022 15:10

@MusicForASushiRestaurant 40c would be a new U.K. record - where are you?

fishonabicycle · 18/07/2022 15:10

33 in East Sussex. Apparently 36 in Nottingham (checked as son is at university there).

wonkylegs · 18/07/2022 15:11

My garden thermometer has topped out.
I'm in the NE of England that is not supposed to happen!
I've just had a message from a friend working in Chennai who had realised it was hotter here than there.

Heatstrokeunsteady · 18/07/2022 15:16

Really sorry to say this and dreading tomorrow but it’s balmy here. A light breeze, lively and warm…just heavenly

Celestial135 · 18/07/2022 15:16

33 in Liverpool and my poor cat is suffering. Just giving her a frozen licky lick

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/07/2022 15:18

according to my phone it is 32 but should be 33 at 4.00 pm!
that is odd isnt? getting hotter at 4?

ifonly4 · 18/07/2022 15:20

My temperature is in shade - now 35.7c. Sun has been on area since 9am this morning.

CaveMum · 18/07/2022 15:23

@Celestial135 i highly recommend the pet cooling mats on Amazon. I got one for our fussy madam over the weekend not expecting it to make a difference but DH (who is working from home) says she’s barely moved off it all day!

I’m told they’re also great to put in your bed, under the bottom sheet, to help you sleep if the pets turn their nose up at it!
