It's raining here (Devon). And has been cloudy all morning.

Maybe it will pick up a bit later.

Weather says we will go up to 30 at the most today.

@MrsMacIsBack official temps are taken in the shade.

For anyone struggling, I find sitting with just your feet in a bowl or bucket of cool water helps a lot - a tip I picked up overseas where these temperatures and higher are the usual thing and water has to be used sparingly. Also, again to save water and if you haven't got a shady spot for a paddling pool, use the bath as a plunge pool - leave the plug in between uses so that the water can be reused by all the (clean) members of the family throughout the day and night. Just change the water when it becomes necessary - you're cooling off, not bathing in it.

Then fill jugs and tip water over any plants that need watering. I hate paying for more water than needed. I empty DDs water bottles into my plant pots on a rotation and try to use as much 'grey' water as possible.

Water company changed my meter twice thinking our low usage must be a mistake but now I have teens who can stay in the shower for all of infinity

It's 37 here. I love it but I am inside in the shade. I only went out for a few minutes in the midday sun.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/07/2022 14:33

50 can't be right, surely - that's 120F?

Sure, a surface in the sun can get way hotter than the shade temperature. Only the latter can be sensibly compared.

Bunnyfuller · 18/07/2022 14:34

36 in the shade here in east Northants

HailAdrian · 18/07/2022 14:34

I'd choose this over weather cold enough to trigger a weather warning 😬

Dontlickthetrolley · 18/07/2022 14:36

30 degrees in my kitchen with no windows or doors open. Waiting for the shade to come over before opening the back door but guessing I may get the "getting off a plane" smack in your face experience. Haven't been outside yet so can't comment on that yet!

I much prefer cold weather. You can always put more clothes on, but there’s a limit to how much you can take off!

Splicebaked · 18/07/2022 14:37

SE 29 outside but 24 inside

All front south facing windows are shut and curtains drawn

Kitchen windows and blinds were open but have just closed them as it's getting hotter and hotter outside

My washing dried in half an hour outside

MyneighbourisTotoro · 18/07/2022 14:38

Where in Devon!? I’m in the north (close to mid Devon boarder) and it’s 33! 🥵

torquewench · 18/07/2022 14:38

It's 35 where I am. Summergeddon has well and truly arrived.

LimpBiskit · 18/07/2022 14:39

That's true, cold weather just makes me really uncomfortable. I'd maybe feel differently if I had a physically demanding job outdoors. Or any job outdoors.

MiniMoosey · 18/07/2022 14:40

I’m in Plymouth and my car says it’s 36

Haveatakeaway · 18/07/2022 14:40

West mids here, South facing garden with full glass windows directly into the lounge and sons bedroom. 44.9 😓
Its hotter than Hades!

Vanillaradio · 18/07/2022 14:41

I mean, it is hot, but not massively so for a hot summer's day (about 31 here)
I've been OK as in a nice cool air conditioned office all morning, as they have already gone from 5 trains an hour to 1 I've abandoned it to get home before they cancel everything. Heat walking back to the station and on the platform now is bearable, train will hopefully be air-conditioned so fine!

Lovegossip · 18/07/2022 14:44

Currently 38 degrees in South East London where I am.

LimesandClementines · 18/07/2022 14:45

Hit 36 here which was the forecasted high (albeit at 5pm) so will see if it climbs any higher

HazelBite · 18/07/2022 14:46

Hertfordshire, my south facing patio, outdoor thermometer reading 48!

Ridley4 · 18/07/2022 14:48

Cheshire. Feels hot outside but cool enough indoors so far. No air con

MrsR87 · 18/07/2022 14:50

It’s now risen to 42.1 on my garden thermometer but have managed
to keep inside temps at around 28.5! This is in Derbyshire.

Trickleg · 18/07/2022 14:52

It’s hotter than Satan’s armpit here in South West London. Hope that helps.

ifonly4 · 18/07/2022 14:52

35.5c in shade here, Gloucestershire.

Recently walked home from work (under umbrella😉) and my padded bra is soaked all over - I'm not normally one to perspire that much.

Found our cat behind bins, I managed to entice him in, he's had some cat milk, done his but as I wouldn't let him out of front door, but has now gone back out through cat flap.

Goldencarp · 18/07/2022 14:54

South coast, West Sussex, it’s 29/30 here.
