The most outrageous way you’ve been fat shamed?

This is in part inspired by a TikTok video and it made me laugh so much that I thought that a similar thread here might get some interesting responses,
keep it civil please obviously post what you want but don’t be attacking posters for their lived experiences

I also think these things really highlight how people who are rude to the overweight are rarely doing it out of concern

Ok I’ll go, my grandma only lets certain people in the family sit on some vintage chairs at the bottom of the garden , as they “aren’t as sturdy as my other chairs” me , husband and my mum are not allowed on the chairs 🙈

I would say she has a nice arse but I can't tell which side it's on. Accompanied by raucous laughter.

I stopped in traffic to let a van pull out from a siDe road in front of me, he took the time to open his window & shout ‘you’re an ugly fat cunt’
Usually I ignore twats but he said it with such venom it really upset me

I was in a pub with my husband and two men and a woman were sat opposite us. I heard one of the men say, "Look at that whale over there." They all three laughed. I couldn't get out of there fast enough, it really upset me.

I hope your husband punched them arseholes!!

Load of builders up scaffolding whistled at me as I was passing, I involuntarily looked up and one of them shouted, not you fatty.
Unfortunately for them I don't take shit like that, I stormed over and complained to their supervisor and then the building company who said they were very sorry and sent me flowers and the whistlers got a proper bollocking. They might think twice next time.

Well done. What a bunch of tossers. Bet they were all Adonises too ... not.

Jossfromtenko · 13/07/2022 22:53

Seeing a photo of myself on work.website. had gastric sleeve a week later and now don't feel embarrassed and am happier.

HerRoyalHappiness · 13/07/2022 22:54

I'm disabled.
I had picked the DC up from school on my mobility scooter. As I was turning onto my street a woman shouted "look at the state.of that. Lose some fucking weight"
It wouldn't be so bad but she was overweight herself. Granted not as big as me but I now know who she was (a neighbours daughter) and I know she's able bodied. Neighbour was very pissed of with her DD and DD has apologised with a box of chocolates. Nott exactly helping the diet she wanted me to go on 😂

Clairejay34 · 13/07/2022 23:00

Last night by my 3 year old, was getting changed in to my pyjamas in front of her and she said "wowww mummy you're so big and your tummy is so big"...thanks darling 😂

Julen7 · 13/07/2022 23:06

My brother in law (3 years ago) told me on the beach that “everyone had noticed how much weight I had gained” - this was after a hysterectomy and two hip operations in the preceding year - and had I thought of the health repercussions as a single parent - hinting I think that I was on a path to an early demise. BIL is not exactly sylph like himself I would add. I was completely mortified and too stunned to even think of a retort but this is typical of him, he has no filter whatsoever
BUT I have lost 2stone since those comments, BMI now 23.

brookslibris · 13/07/2022 23:08

I was once fat shamed when I was eight months pregnant by a man who was about 25 stone and sitting next to his 20 stone wife!

Grimoven · 13/07/2022 23:09

DM, now loe contact would buy me clthes for birthdays/ Christmas, always at least 2 sizes smaller than I was.
I would thank her and ask if I could exchange them for my actual size.
Her response was always " Why don't you join Weight Watchers " .

She's just a nasty sychophant who enjoys being seen in the company of successful wealthy thin people .

LeniGray · 13/07/2022 23:11

I’d just been to a cash point, and as I was walking away, a group of men came around the corner towards me, all laughing and having fun. One looked at me, and said to the others ‘fuckin’ hell! Look at the tits on that!’ 😳

A young bloke shoved past me as I was getting off a bus - not quick enough for his liking (I’ve arthritis in my spine). I almost fell over, and said ‘oi!’ as he pushed past. He turned and snarled at me ‘you should’ve got out the way, you fat slag!’ It escalated when I called him a wanker, and he got properly in my face. I gave him a death stare, and the bus driver jumped out of his cab to intervene, and a couple of blokes coming out of the pub ran over too … 😅 He got told to ‘do one!’ by Older Men 🤭

DustyOwl · 13/07/2022 23:13

In my twenties, walking along on a night out. I was feeling great, new shoes and jeans, fab. I was walking with my friend. We passed a group of lads. One said, “I’ll have that one, you can have the fat bint”. (My friend was really skinny).
I got to the pub, went to the toilet and cried. My friend came and found me and gave me a pint and some words of wisdom, which I can no longer remember, probably helped by the pint.
If this happened to me now, I certainly wouldn’t run away.

SteveHarringtonsChestHair · 13/07/2022 23:14

My nanna when I was about 13 and had dressed up in some new clothes for Xmas, “ooh doesn’t she look lovely, and she only needs to lose a few pounds”. Bitch.

HailAdrian · 13/07/2022 23:17

I was called fat in secondary school by a boy in my year (who had previously fancied me!) which would have been fine but I was borderline underweight!

FriedasCarLoad · 13/07/2022 23:20

The online NHS maternity form which I just filled in wouldn't accept a 3 digit weight, only a 2 digit one.

I'm 101kg/16 stone. I'm fat, but I've seem pregnant women a lot heavier than this!

Motheranddaughtertotwo · 13/07/2022 23:22

I was 24, a size 14 and a club bouncer told me I’d be so pretty if I lost a couple of stone. I’d had my first child not long before and strangely had a new found confidence. I told him I was pretty as I was and I don’t have any desire to attract rude, shallow pricks.
When I was wedding dress shopping for the first time I kept getting told that sample dresses are made for size 8-10 and I should go back after I lost weight; they looked disgusted when I said I was quite happy as a 14 and had no intention of loosing weight. Needless to say I did not buy a dress from them! People can be such arseholes.

AlohaMolly · 13/07/2022 23:23

I was a very thin but curvy teenager - 5 foot 8 and size 6-8 but with 32c boobs and hips. My mum, an overweight woman, was so proud. I was very academic and very fit but her pride and joy was my waist.

I also binged and purged and starved myself regularly.

im not 34 and 17 stone. She recently got remarried and my brother and I, as well as our partners and children, met at her house to go with her to the registry office. She made such a fuss about having photos with my brother - 6 foot something but also overweight- and then promptly left. My partner was stunned that she’d so blatantly not wanted a photo with me, but I know it’s because I’m fat and her biggest disappointment.

she went on holiday recently and before she went, she talked about how she won’t wear a bikini on the beach. ‘Because DD, we all know that everyone judges fat people, don’t we?’ And when I said I don’t think that’s true, certainly not in the circles I mix in, she replied ‘well, you’re wrong. We fat people are judged.’

HelloBunny · 13/07/2022 23:23

My mum would do the opposite with clothes, Grimoven. She always gifts me Large knickers & size 16 PJs, even though I’m a 10-12. Asks if they’re big enough, every time...

CookTwice · 13/07/2022 23:23

Coming out a nightclub a guy came up and told me I'd be pretty if I wasn't so fat. I was a size 14/16 then, I'm bigger nowadays!

My Dad used to call me his sugar plump fairy often as a child.

Mum put me on diets at size 10/12 as a teen. She's a lovely Mum but diets were not necessary at that time.

I wonder why I have low self-esteem 🤷‍♀️

Did online dating.

Random bloke messaged me JUST to tell me how I looked like a whale, I would never get a man being so fat, shouldn't be on the site etc. (I was size 18)
I might have liked his profile previously but hadn't messaged him so could easily have been ignored.

I messaged back saying I saw he had a daughter and how awful for her to have a dad who would treat a woman like he'd treated me and I hoped she got better in her own life.

Dick.

That's why he was on there then what a prat 🤣

ItisallPooh · 13/07/2022 23:25

I have Crohn's disease but a doctor refused to believe I could be in a flare because I was too big to be flaring. I was 10st. Two months before I had been 13st. I was most definitely very unwell.

Besttobe8001 · 13/07/2022 23:26

A man in Thailand grabbed my arm and so

"Wow!! So fat!!"

Well done for confronting them but I’m so sorry that happened to you.

In my plump days, a great aunt who we visited on holiday and who hadn't seen me in like 20yrs, said, "You're fat!" I didn't miss a heartbeat and replied, "Yes, because I can actually afford to eat 😌" 😅 She liked my sass and swatted me away!
