It has been so hot today! We went to Lanchester Garden Centre first thing this morning and it was beautiful sitting outside.

Thank you! What a scorcher this weekend was!

Did anyone make it to the Miner's Gala? We had other plans this weekend but it looked very busy in town.

AlviarinAesSedai · 10/07/2022 21:19

No, but DSis went and was heaving, no drinking for them though. DSis went with her DH and family. Was too hot for me. Also I get stressed with crowds.
All of the pictures on Facebook look amazing.

AlviarinAesSedai · 10/07/2022 21:22

Has been too hot for me today. Still hot now.

Hellocatshome · 10/07/2022 21:26

Ooh hello didnt realise we had a thread just for us. I didnt go I was tied up with DS sports commitments but there are going to be a lot of very hungover very sunburnt people at work tomorrow between the miners gala and Kubix!

Someaddedsugar · 10/07/2022 21:46

I have seen some very sunburnt people walking through our village this evening!

Hi @Hellocatshome! We started chatting in the lockdown and it's nice to have a north east corner of Mumsnet! I'd miss it now if it wasn't here Smile

I was away this weekend but the family made it to the gala.

Far too hot today 😭

PickAChew · 11/07/2022 15:56

I could stay on, yesterday but I walked to the arnison centre, this morning and I've just got back from an appointment in Spenny, by extremely hot and stuffy bus, and I'm tempted to lay down on my tiled kitchen floor for a bit. Lathered!

PickAChew · 11/07/2022 15:57

DH is as pleased as I am about Boyeses, BTW.

2022NutellaPancake · 11/07/2022 16:00

👋 hello from Teesside …. Very muggy here today .. no sunshine !

Someaddedsugar · 11/07/2022 19:46

Hello @2022NutellaPancake!

It's gone all muggy here too. I had to go and sort some printing at work and as our air con is broken it wasn't a pleasant journey. I got to work looking rather red and sweaty 😂

My father in law is literally delighted that Boyes is coming closer to us! It's become a running joke!

Love Lanchester Garden Centre!

Someaddedsugar · 11/07/2022 20:23

I do too @Gilead. We could spend the whole day there now they have the play bit next to the animal place.

I also really rate their forest school sessions if anyone has little ones. DS has loved every one he's been too!

Some dd is 25 but still insists on a trip round to see Dave the Chinese Pheasant, before the cafe!

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 12/07/2022 18:59

Checking in on the new thread. We were further South at the weekend and it was even more bloody hot than here I think. Had lots of fun though playing in the river.

I can't believe the schools break up so soon. I have hardly contemplated the summer and still need to sort clothes, see what needs buying, definitely need new swimwear for dd, plus think about the details for our holiday to France. Like figuring out the vaccine proof for the teens.

Someaddedsugar · 12/07/2022 19:00

@Gilead I love Dave!

@OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea I miss our family holidays to France from when I was younger. I honestly don't think I appreciated at the time how lucky I was!

Hello everyone. I like Lanchester garden centre as well. I’m not sure what Boyes is! I’ll be sure to check it out though when it opens.

I’ve had some bad news recently. I had covid in April and it’s left me with full blown diabetes. It’s hit me pretty hard. I’m only 38 and it’s been a huge adjustment.

hope everyone else is doing all right!

MsMarvellous · 12/07/2022 20:19

@Florelei that's rough sorry to hear that. I'm having hearing issues and I'm convinced it's covid related!

Florelei · 12/07/2022 20:26

Thanks @MsMarvellous. If I’m honest I feel a little bitter about it.

I worry that as a society repeated infections are going to leave us much more unhealthy and potentially disabled.

I hope your hearing problems sort themselves out soon.

AlviarinAesSedai · 12/07/2022 20:33

@Florelei, that’s really awful. @MsMarvellous that’s awful too.
Boyes is a shop with everything, crafts, fabric, clothes, diy, car bits. Gardening, electrical items, paint, crockery and pans etc, and no forgetting cleaning supplies. And toys and cards/wrapping paper, stationery, god just everything 😅. The one at Chester is small but mighty. There was panic when people thought it might close with Arnison opening.
I’ve never been to Lanchester garden centre, I have heard cafe is lovely.
