My best friend got married at Crook Hall. Its a beautiful place!

Space opera might be interesting if I can find time to actually write the damn thing 🤔😭😭😂

Love beamish too - hoping to get there with my nephews in the summer. I always spend a fortune in the sweet shop though 😂 The bakery is lovely too, got some lovely Scones there last time.

AlviarinAesSedai · 16/07/2022 14:39

Welcome @Bumptious22 .
I’ve only been to Welfare hall in 50’s village, I want to visit the chip shop.
I can’t believe the 50’s was over 70 years ago, by the time I have GC there will probably be a 70’s village.
There is reminder on Beamish Facebook page that it will be too hot for dogs. Shocking that people need to be reminded.

lifelongfrugaleer · 17/07/2022 07:44

I’m going to get my pass renewed over summer when a bit more is open in the 50s bit

xsquared · 18/07/2022 14:58

Does anyone know whether the Arriva buses have air con?

Our car doesn't, ds 17 needs to go to eork in a couple of hours a d just trying to work out the mist comfortable option.

xsquared · 18/07/2022 14:59

In Durham, that is.

TIA

AlviarinAesSedai · 18/07/2022 15:51

Personally I think will be cooler in a car, than on a stuffy bus. Quicker too, but we have Go North East and if they have air con it doesn’t work!

MsMarvellous · 19/07/2022 12:30

33 degrees and counting 😭

PickAChew · 19/07/2022 13:12

Deffo no aircon on arriva buses! Tin greenhouses on wheels.

PickAChew · 19/07/2022 13:15

Same with GNE. Some of their old Mercedes citaros did have aircon but they have unscrewed all the windows on the ones they still have so it clearly doesn't work anymore.

Florelei · 19/07/2022 13:43

I’m so hot. It is 28 degrees in my living room and I’m sitting with a bag of frozen veg on my head to cool me down.

QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 16:07

Trying to write but I'm too hot. Soaked my top about 20mins ago and it is already dry 😕

It helps loads though, would highly recommend! 😁

Crazy hot in my yard earlier!

AlviarinAesSedai · 19/07/2022 17:09

My air con in the car struggled coming home. I’ve left work early because the sweat was literally running down my face. No air con.

Someaddedsugar · 19/07/2022 17:10

I'm dreading trying to get DS to sleep in this heat tonight.

Is it wrong to be looking forward to some cooler weather 😂

OP posts:
AlviarinAesSedai · 19/07/2022 17:15

Are you going to try the cold hot water bottle? Good luck getting a little one to sleep.
DH is desperate for some rain for the allotment. I want rain too.
I’ve being having cold showers.

QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 18:18

They're combining in the field behind my house and I'm worried they're going to set the field on fire. Looks like bloody hot work, too.

Hellocatshome · 19/07/2022 18:23

@QuestionableMouse when I was younger we had a mini heatwave must have been in the 80s and the combine harvester in the field behind our house actually set on fire. We had a procession of firemen coming in the house for cold drinks while they dealt with it. Unfortunately I was too young to fully appreciate it but I know it made my Mams day 🤣

Someaddedsugar · 19/07/2022 18:29

@AlviarinAesSedai I've got some of those ice pack things that you use for sports injuries so wrapping those up and have them in the bed ready. Hopefully he manages to get some sleep!

The weather forecast's changed as it said a storm here this afternoon when I check this morning but now there's no storm at all.

@QuestionableMouse I bet they're so hot - not the weather for that kind of work.

@Hellocatshome I think I'd have enjoyed having a procession of firemen coming through the house too 😂.

Don’t combine’s have air-con? Definitely hot and dusty work.
Between the dust and the tiny black flies it’s awful. We have a couple a fields around us. I feel so sorry for the lambs/sheep near me. There is not much shade.
I’m waiting for the thunderstorms.

QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 19:23

Some do, but from the way the little windows are open I'm thinking it's maybe not working? ☹️

PickAChew · 19/07/2022 21:18

I see the H&M in Prince bishops is closing down (not that it's up to much, anyway)

Someaddedsugar · 19/07/2022 22:27

That's a shame @PickAChew. I quite liked it in there for DS' clothes. I hope they're going to do a push to fill the shops in Durham as there are so many stood empty.

OP posts:
QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 23:02

Hartlepool is exactly the same. Walked through the shopping center over the weekend and there's so many empty shops!

PickAChew · 19/07/2022 23:05

Hartlepool has been that bad since M&S moved out of the centre!

QuestionableMouse · 19/07/2022 23:06

It's very true! Think we're down to one Greggs in there too which is never a good sign.

AlviarinAesSedai · 19/07/2022 23:53

Just saw about H&M, my DD’s are disappointed.
But we getting a TGI Friday .sarcasm .
I was looking forward to the rain, so disappointed 😢
