Poolie here, or close enough 😂😁😂

Yesterday was ridiculously hot - was melting at work! Not helped by the lack of working air con 🥵🥵🥵

Glorious here right now, cooled down a lot but still some sun.

Hoping for the same tomorrow, because we're off to the Great Yorkshire show 😁😁😁

covilha · 12/07/2022 20:39

I love a coffee and cake at Lanchester Garden Centre.
Boyes is fab, it truly has everything and really good prices.
When I was nursing in London I used to take order for hats, gloves and scarf sets from everyone when I came home on visits as their quality and price is unmatchable

Someaddedsugar · 12/07/2022 20:49

@Florelei I hope you're ok! That must have been a huge shock. 💐

@MsMarvellous hope you're ok too!

I'm a bit worried that covid is having some very long-lasting side effects that we're just not aware of. I've got friends who have been told they have long covid and there just doesn't seem to be any support there.

Boyes is ace!

@QuestionableMouse I've really struggled with working in the heat these last few days. Hope you enjoy the NY show! My in-laws said that apparently the County Durham show was at Ushaw College the weekend before last and I'm gutted we missed it. I never see anything advertised as being on up there but they seem to have some fab events going on!

Envious of your visit to The Great Yorkshire show, QuestionableMouse. Have a great day.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/07/2022 20:52

Ah sorry to hear that forelli. Type 1 or 2?

Florelei · 12/07/2022 21:07

Thanks everyone. @lifelongfrugaleer they think type 2 but they aren’t 100%

I have a further blood test in August which will tell me.

Missed that one too unfortunately!

Sedgefield show is on the 13th Aug though!

@AlviarinAesSedai thanks! Been ages since we've been and I'm so excited 😁

QuestionableMouse · 12/07/2022 21:17

Long Covid sucks! I'm really just starting to feel like normal after getting Covid last Sept! There's a really helpful subreddit for it.

PickAChew · 13/07/2022 00:35

One of my first covid symptoms was a new layer to my tinnitus and its still with me, 5 months on. Really loud and reactive. Someone pulling a suitcase with a squeaky wheel set it off, last week!

RampantIvy · 13/07/2022 00:49

Can I temporarily join you?
I was in Morpeth over the weekend and have never seen the river so low before. It was like a stagnant pond. The weir was almost dry, and so many plants have grown in places where there should have been river that it looks like a small stream in places.

I hate that for you!

Have you had your iron levels checked? I get awful tinnitus when mine are low, just wondering if that might be making it worse for you too?

My main lingering symptoms are fatigue and brain fog. I keep losing words, which as a writer is fricking scary.

Someaddedsugar · 13/07/2022 06:56

Welcome @RampantIvy 👋🏻.

I was told yesterday that water levels are pretty low at the moment in the north east. At work I suspect we'll be hoping for rain soon!

It definitely sounds like there are some nasty side effects to covid. A colleague's son (12) has had a cold for months since having it and he just can't shift it. They've said it's not long covid but is a result of low immune system after the virus. Colleague was saying he's just miserable poor thing.

Thank goodness for Kielder water.

Currently working on a space opera, but in the past I've had horror and fantasy published. 😁

PickAChew · 13/07/2022 11:40

My iron is a little on the low side @QuestionableMouse but my existing tinnitus is c/o Ds2 having screeched in my ear a few too many times, when he was younger. I have very slight hearing loss, as a result. Conveniently, it's men's voices I can't quite make out 😜

Interesting that your ears are bad too! I don't feel so alone. It's crap isn't it.

QuestionableMouse · 14/07/2022 16:15

The show was a lot of fun. Had a really good day, apart from my dad going missing for two hours (he wandered off to see the military bit without really saying where he was going, so we ended up searching for him!) Also got a bit sunburned despite covering up and slathering on SPF 50!

AlviarinAesSedai · 15/07/2022 18:25

There should be an announcement system for adults like there is for small children at places like The Great Yorkshire show.
Where has our warm weather gone?
Has anyone been to Crook Hall yet?

TheSummerySilveryPussycat · 15/07/2022 19:36

My DF was a one for vanishing off on outings. Once when we were at Saltburn we kept missing each other going up and down the cliff lift...

PickAChew · 15/07/2022 23:21

Our warm weather will be back, tomorrow, and we now have an Amber warning for Monday and Tuesday. I've enjoyed our break from it.

Heading over to beamish for some quite old buses, tomorrow. Not the very old buses. They're inside the museum. They have the post 1965 buses in the coach park, though, with shuttles running from Chester Le street all day.

MsMarvellous · 16/07/2022 07:13

Love a bit of beamish.

I'm home visiting family for the weekend back in time for the heatwave 😭

AlviarinAesSedai · 16/07/2022 09:47

I love Beamish too. Enjoy your day PickAChew. I’m going to Chester today do will keep eye out for Buses.
Enjoy seeing your family MsMarvellous
.

Bumptious22 · 16/07/2022 09:58

Oo..do you mind if I hop on? Lovely to hear some local chat.

Need to take the kids to Beamish before our tickets run out again. Haven't seen the 50's village yet.

Someaddedsugar · 16/07/2022 11:20

Space opera sounds interesting @QuestionableMouse!

Another Beamish fan here! We're going to go to Crook Hall next weekend if the weather's ok and really looking forward to seeing what it's like now. It says on the website they're no longer doing weddings and events which is a shame as it made a lovely wedding venue.
