I’m hot and bothered and I have access to an air conditioner fan. Won’t switch it on though because the cats in the room and she hates it.

She’s all chilled out, and relaxed so I don’t want to upset her and make her run

Dh don’t get my reasoning. Hmm

Am now finally in bed after long shift in care home!!! Am desperate to switch on fan..doggie hates it but I think I get priority!!

caringcarer · 09/07/2022 00:24

I can't vacuum if cats are in lounge as they are afraid of yellow vacuum. I wait until they are out. I keep the underfloor heating on overnight in kitchen through the Autumn/Winter because cats adore it.

SenecaFallsRedux · 09/07/2022 00:26

We don't vacuum the floors while DDog is in the house. She hates it and starts whining and crying like she's in distress. One of us will take her for a walk or a ride in the car while the other vacuums.

moanyhole · 09/07/2022 00:27

I sneeze silently now as ddog gets all panicky and starts whining, I think she thinks I'm dying if I sneeze. She hated the kennels the first time she went, ate though the steel door of her kennel and ignored me for 3 days after, wouldn't make eye contact she was so put out. Found another kennels place but more of a home from home. Warned the lady that ddog didn't react well the first time and doesn't sleep alone. Lady reassured us that ddog would be fine sleeping on her own. Ddog ended up in her bed with her for the 2 nights that she stayed!!

TheHateIsNotGood · 09/07/2022 00:29

I am constantly amazed at how much of my bed space such a small a dog can take up, given the entire house is her bed. When I occasionally realize that indeed it is MY bed, I need to move little dog very carefully, else she gets a bit grumpy.

But then "I wake up in the morning love and the sunlight hits my eyes.....just one look at you....and I know it's going to be.....A Lovely Day".

She sounds amazing!

I also have a box in my kitchen and another in lounge that have been there a couple of months because our 2 cats love to sit in a box.

MaitlandGirl · 09/07/2022 00:35

We have three dogs, between them we have to avoid : David Attenborough documentaries, unrolling selotape, using a soda stream, having a shower with the bathroom door closed, watching any tv programs with monkeys in them and having phones on vibrate.

They really are tiny little dictators 😂

Insidelaurashead · 09/07/2022 00:36

@lastminutedotcom22 thanks for being a considerate person. I'm sure both neighbours and their dog are grateful for that ❤️

This is basically my life.

I hate getting the suitcases out for holidays in front of the dog. He looks so sad.

My mum wouldn't let us pack until the day before we went on holiday because the dog would sulk. We could have everything in piles ready to put in the suitcases (thick golden retriever).

When my carer arrives we chat about what needs doing, if the cat is in she is usually on his knee by this time so he can't start work until she gets up.

I quite like to have boiled ham for breakfast, but only if the cat is out because otherwise she wants it and it's not good for her.

BarbedButterfly · 09/07/2022 02:10

Our parrot is terrified of the steam mop so I actually have to wheel her cage around the house as I do each room while muttering about how mad I am. I also have to have the radio on for her if i am elsewhere, but only on certain stations. She loves hip hop. Mad, as I said.

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/07/2022 02:15

DDog doesn't like DH's ringtone so he changed it. Grin

I sat freezing the other night until DD walked in and I said, "pass me a blanket, I couldn't move because of the dog". She didn't bat an eyelid and would have done the same.

I do Hoover and use Roomba though. DDog thinks they are murdering him.

wandawaves · 09/07/2022 02:17

I avoid checking my blood pressure when the dogs are inside because the noise of the Velcro ripping off freaks out my anxious dog and she barks for ages.

If the dogs are asleep on my lap I ring my kids in their bedrooms to come and make me a cup of tea.

Kathy34 · 09/07/2022 03:13

I don' invite male freinds over as my youngest cat was abused by a man before she came to me. My oldest likes to go upstairs ( to my parents apartment) by 7 am daily so even on my days off I get up to let her go. Currently freezing my butt off so my fat cat can watch his favorite squirrel and hear him talking. I also don't move in bed, don't watch any game show with buzzers, and make a extra eggie each Sunday for the cats

Oh my god. As I was posting this, my son messaged me.

This is hilarious

we have a fan on in our room all
night. Ddog sleeps by my feet … behind a barrier of a cushion and some blankets (she’s tiny)
so basically the fan misses every part of me but she’s sheltered…

mjf981 · 09/07/2022 05:04

My 'friend' gifted us a cat tower condo. I hadn't seen it before, and when it arrived, realized that it is massive and absolutely hideous. And very tired/stained. The cat of course instantly claimed it and loves sleeping in it. So of course I now can't throw the bloody thing out. It ruins the look of my living room!

FrankGrillosFloof · 09/07/2022 05:14

I get woken up by blazing sunshine at about 4am because my cat has taken to snoozing on the windowsill in the evenings so I don’t put the blind down.

it doesn’t really matter because I’m already awake from the continuous leaping onto the bed and meowing in my ear that goes on half the night.

8 years.
There has been a box on my dining table for 8 years.
We have just accepted the box lives on the dining table 😁

Applesfortea · 09/07/2022 06:34

Whenever we get anything from Amazon, we have to put the box on the floor to see if any of the cats claim it.
They usually take turns sitting in it & they always look so pleased with themselves when they're sitting in a box.
Sometimes one of them will decide it's their new bed so it has to stay on the floor until either they lose interest or the box falls apart, whichever happens first!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 09/07/2022 06:50

Yes, the sulks when you return! Our cat could make sulking an Olympic sport.

undermilkjug · 09/07/2022 07:18

My brother can't visit us at home anymore. He has a dog which doesn't like to be left and we have a cat who doesn't like the dog.

We meet for tea outside.

Squiff70 · 09/07/2022 08:03

The things we do for our pets 🤣

I read a post on FB the other day from a lady who is expecting a baby in the next few weeks. Her main fear is upsetting her cats' routines. They get fed at set times (fair enough) but they also get WALKED at set times. They also have a set bedtime.

Honestly, put the air con on. The cat will get over it.

StillMedusa · 09/07/2022 08:05

Oh it's nice to know there are so many of us!!
No David Attenborough (unless on laptop with headphones on) as it upsets the dog AND the cat. No hoovering if the cat's in. No sudden moves if the cat is neear. (Ex street cat and liable to sink his teeth in) Can't move if cat is on my lap...
NO unexpected visitors... careful planning so as not to upset the dog. Oh and no sunglasses... she's terrified and barks her head off.

We are off to a wedding today..overnight stay. I'm dreading leaving them in their own house with a nice carer they know....
