I’m hot and bothered and I have access to an air conditioner fan. Won’t switch it on though because the cats in the room and she hates it.

She’s all chilled out, and relaxed so I don’t want to upset her and make her run

Dh don’t get my reasoning. Hmm

Our cat has separation anxiety and can't be alone.
Not even a closed door when you use the bathroom.

We also go to bed when she decides it's time and get up when she decides it's time.

She hates the tumble dryer so much we bought a washing line and now hang clothes outside. Which saves money and is better for the environment and I'd probably say that's why we swapped instead of "my cat hates the tumble dryer" if it came up in conversation. 🤣

She's claimed my eldest sons bedroom as hers and he can't use his bed until she's finished with it.

We are all really ridiculous when it comes to our furry dictator.

Oh my god. As I was posting this, my son messaged me.

Well, shows I'm not lying I guess 🤣

We really needed a new kitchen ages ago, but Ddog gets very anxious about changes and strangers in the house. We said we'd have to wait till after he died, well he's still going strong and our kitchen hasn't been updated for FIFTEEN YEARS.

Theimpossiblegirl · 08/07/2022 22:08

I can't pack a small bag without the dog jumping in the car and refusing to move in case he's not coming.

How about not going abroad for 10 years because the dogs wouldn't like kennels?

We never all go away together so that someone is always home with the dog and at the moment I can only go away for 1/2 nights max as dog is suffering with recurrent paraphimosis and I have to sort him out ( my husband reckons he can’t do it ) .

allboysherebutme · 08/07/2022 22:20

Lots of things, you are not alone lol. X

LaVieEstBelle159 · 08/07/2022 22:21

I can't move from the sofa every evening as the rabbit sits on my lap. This means I struggle to paint my nails, use my laptop, anything.

I definitely can't disturb him to make my own cups of tea...! 😆

Whataplanker · 08/07/2022 22:27

I have a small window of opportunity to make the bed in the morning between getting out of it and a cat getting on it. It rarely gets made.

SammyScrounge · 08/07/2022 22:31

😃😆😂

SammyScrounge · 08/07/2022 22:33

My cat hated the hoover. I could only use it when she went upstairs to snooze.

Freemc2 · 08/07/2022 22:35

Her ladyship refuses to eat with her brothers and will only eat her wet cat food under our bed! And everyone has to remain completely still while she eats.
They all demand to be fed the moment someone is up, and as DH gets up for work before me, I wake pretty much everyday to the smell of wet cat food.

She also is petrified of everyone except me and DH. When we go away my family feed her (under the bed of course) but never see her. I resort to placing cameras under the bed and around the house to ensure she’s eating and is still alive, so my family don’t panic!

One of my boys is a real Velcro cat, even in really warm weather he NEEDS to be on me at all times and if I try and move him he does all these little groans. So I end up hot and having to keep still until he decides it’s time to move.

Lolabalola · 08/07/2022 22:42

These are all bonkers but I think not turning the tv over if the cat is invested in the program wins 🤣
Personally I have perfected the art of commando crawling . Often have the dog one side of me and the cat the other on bed , if a nighttime wee is needed , me not them , you have to commando crawl up the bed and out of the covers so as not to disturb them.
Tv viewing is often based around the dog who enjoys tv. Anything with cartoons, puppets , animals is out as he flies at tv barking, but he loves a good crime drama and sits enthralled all evening with his little ears pricked up.

Dh and I have had genuine and quite involved conversations debating which radio station we leave on for the dog.

Would he like the classical stylings of radio 3 or is he young enough for radio 1?
Should we put on a commercial station or would the adverts annoy him?

This is a dog who got stuck up a tree chasing a squirrel, gave himself concussion chasing a fly and spends at least 70% of his waking hours licking his own knob. I don't know why we bother.

dudsville · 08/07/2022 23:19

My worst thing is that we once went 5 years without fire alarms in the house 😅because they randomly beeped and it terrified one of girl so much, she'd hide and couldn't be soothed.

Yes to a bad back because of dogs joining us towards morning so that they are in position to greet us come day break.

We have another old girl who now can't travel, so we do not go anywhere.

A previous dog barked to any music that had deep make voices making anything like a "hey" sound. It really made her defensive and she'd bravely search for the threat!

Oakdog · 08/07/2022 23:24

Can't use any of the Alexas in our house, our DDog hates anything that comes out of them, but especially Alexa's voice! Also hicupping, but can't do much about that!!

lastminutedotcom22 · 08/07/2022 23:25

I love fireworks however my neighbours have a dog who is terrified of them so I don't have them in my garden

Ihatethedawnchorus · 08/07/2022 23:30

can't put the fan on because the cat is terrified of it

can't hoover when cat is around because he is terrified of it

can't close the sitting room door as cat goes into panic mode thinking he is going to be trapped to be put in carrier and taken somewhere

the truth is he's terrified of everything 😂

Whichisit · 08/07/2022 23:35

@LaVieEstBelle159 well that is exactly how it should beGrin

Stormyinacoffeemug · 08/07/2022 23:38

My child, age 8 - "no, she's all folded up now"
Parent - "oh ok"
Translation - I cannot do as you ask as the cat has now folded all of her limbs and tail under her body and closed her eyes and therfore I cannot move. Only acceptable response is acceptance.

This has been a house law for the last 10 years. Once she chooses you and 'folds up' you are not let off any chores, tidying up or requests until she decides to move.

Mojoj · 08/07/2022 23:41

Discussing with kids where we'll eat if going out and only choosing somewhere where furry kid can come too...

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 09/07/2022 00:02

Loving this thread..have a dog and she is spoiled rotten, she cries when she sees me putting my coat on and know I am going out. Have to rub her belly at night time and her ears to relax her to sleep. She hates the hoover also so has to go to son's room when I do that or place never be hoovered. Has the best blankets and is ruined but we love her to bits. Loving all these pet lovers with kind hearts and pets like their babies.

SunflowerGardens · 09/07/2022 00:04

I don't have a dog anymore but when I did I wouldn't cook anything in the slow cooker because I used to think it smells so nice and her sense of smell is so much stronger than mine it must drive her mad all day.

I always leave Magic Soul on. It's the perfect combination of chilled and uptempo

Dilemmaemmaaa · 09/07/2022 00:12

My house is like one of those laser rooms when my baby is sleeping. The dog will bark if anyone walks past our house at all slowly or even glances in. My sister wanted to drop something off yesterday and I told her she couldn’t or we’d have the domino effect of the dog then baby being set off so she parked behind a hedge and I creept out in my slippers like we were doing a dodgy drugs deal when we were just hiding from my securo dog
