Gunpowder - from crackers

LifeOfBriony · 26/06/2022 12:15

Definitely creosote and marker pens
Jeyes Fluid (which has a similar smell to creosote)

Soubriquet · 26/06/2022 12:15

Oh yes. To all of those

Asparagus wee

Greensleeves · 26/06/2022 12:16

Woodsmoke and barbecue fumes. Apparently on MN these inspire the same fear and horror as mustard gas. I think they smell of summer and find them comforting.

Soubriquet · 26/06/2022 12:17

Im in two places about bbq smoke. Love it and hate it at the same time. Mostly because it makes me hungry.

Wood smoke/coal smoke from an open fire though, I love it.

Asparagus wee? Yeah that’s just weird Grin

Paint, chlorine, that fresh plastic smell when you open something new

Crispynoodle · 26/06/2022 12:19

Insulin

Soubriquet · 26/06/2022 12:20

I love the smell of dog paws. It’s like popcorn.

Cigarettes. I used to like sitting in the smoking section even though I've never smoked!

sunglassesonthetable · 26/06/2022 12:23

wet grass at night
deep heat
chlorine on a hot day from a pool
lunch time oil frying smell on a hot day
hot tar
gun powder/ fireworks

GoldenOmber · 26/06/2022 12:23

Oooh yes petrol. And that DIY shop smell.

GerryAtrick · 26/06/2022 12:24

I like just about all of the odours others have mentioned.

I unblock drains and a manhole full of crap doesn't faze me at all, either sight or smell.

Alicetheowl · 26/06/2022 12:25

Tar and creosote!

Soubriquet · 26/06/2022 12:25

The butchers with their fresh meat smell.

Don’t like it with supermarket, but the butchers. Yes Blush

Petrol, white spirit, brasso, the inside of tennis balls, a certain type of paint brush cleaner, lashings of pine disinfectant, tip ex back when it was pretty pungent, a marker pen with a retractable nib which contains gold ink from my childhood, a certain type of medicated talcum powder that my Nan used (in a metal container).

I love all of these, even more so when I'm pregnant. Was gutted I couldn't find any medicated talc that smelt right during my last pregnancy. Probably a good thing in hindsight.

sunglassesonthetable · 26/06/2022 12:28

The first fresh whiff of someone else smoking
( after that don't like it )

sunglassesonthetable · 26/06/2022 12:29

yes ! fresh marker pen

Branleuse · 26/06/2022 12:30

I like creosote too.
Also the smell of damp towels that have that faint mildewy smell and need a wash. Also bath sponges that smell like that

HelpMeGetThrough · 26/06/2022 12:34

Tippex in the red bottle from back in the 80s.

Anyone remember that? Used to sniff away in many a boring lesson in the 5th year. 🤪

Yes!!

What is it with that?!

I can’t stand the smell of smoke but that first part when it’s lit up, it’s nice

Nail varnish remover

Bleach

Giggorata · 26/06/2022 12:40

Oooh yes, gunpowder. And petrol.
Woodsmoke in the air, not directly from a fire.
Wet paint.
Old leaves, mould and ferns on a woodland floor.
