The smell of damp. I remember as a kid the underground used to smell like it and car garages, etc

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 26/06/2022 13:46

Wet plaster!

SarahShorty · 26/06/2022 13:47

All automotive smells including petrol, diesel and brand new tyres.
Ignition compound on a match being struck.
Gunpowder.
Bleach.
Coal smoke.
Dry erase markers/permanent markers.
Bostick.
Tobacco smoke.
Nitrous released from the soil after rain.

Used to like creosote, but don't anymore. Not sure if it's because I've gone off of it or the stuff used today isn't real creosote.

When DS was born, a nurse told me she liked the smell of breastfed baby poo 😁.
I love fresh fag smoke and bbqs.

SarahShorty · 26/06/2022 13:50

And BBQs.

crosstalk · 26/06/2022 13:56

Smell of Gitanes.
Sharp smell of fox or fox smelling plants like the crown fritillary.

Rubyroseyposey · 26/06/2022 13:57

Bleach tho 😍

Goldensunnydays81 · 26/06/2022 14:02

i love the smell of farms, and then bleach, fresh struck matches and when you accidentally singe your arm hair 🤣

TheQueensCousin · 26/06/2022 14:04

Surgical spirit

Thecrystalempire · 26/06/2022 14:04

Baby poo 😲
Until they move off just milk.

Squills · 26/06/2022 14:11

Woodsmoke,
horses,
cut wood,
bonfires in the autumn

AdoraBell · 26/06/2022 14:11

Bonfire
Freshly burned wood
Matches just blown out

Whirlygiggles · 26/06/2022 14:12

Exhaust fumes. When I was little, my mum found me huffing all the fumes from an idling car, early 70's, so the leaded stuff. 😮😂

Also liked the proper Butchers smell with the sawdust.

Old Pubs with the beer and fags ingrained smell.

meow1989 · 26/06/2022 14:13

Bleach, disinfectant and tcp.

Petrol, wood smoke, the smell after fire works.

We have railway sleepers in our garden and when it's hot they have tar come out of them - I can't work out if i like the smell or not

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/06/2022 14:14

Dogs, even wet ones.🐶
Ditto to tar, bonfires, coal smoke, fireworks
Freshly slightly-sweaty blokes - as long as I wouldn’t say no anyway. (Or wouldn’t have, before I reached the stage when nobody but dh is going to offer anyway)
A passing whiff of fag smoke
In winter, that cold air that smells of coming snow
In autumn, the smell of lots of wet, fallen leaves

PAFMO · 26/06/2022 14:17

Aircraft fuel

That smell that's also a sound, that whooshy smell as you go down the escalator into the older tube stations.

Also agree the first whiff of someone else's cigarette, especially if it's a lung rotting Camel or an old Spanish Ducados fag.

thecurtainsofdestiny · 26/06/2022 14:17

The smell you used to get from the Banda machine fluid.

Soubriquet · 26/06/2022 14:18

It’s weird what we find pleasing.

A new pack of cigarettes. Unsmoked. I hate cigarette smoke though.

PleaseStopExplaining · 26/06/2022 14:26

Dettol

Hbh17 · 26/06/2022 14:57

Foreign cigarettes, with a whiff of drains & a top note of two stroke...... all on a hot day! Just the perfect summer holiday smell and incredibly evocative.

CounsellorTroi · 26/06/2022 14:57

All automotive smells including petrol, diesel and brand new tyres.

Love the smell of Halfords!

Onesmallstepforaman · 26/06/2022 15:02
