Just read on a thread that dominos make donations to anti abortion groups 🙄 v annoying as if true I wouldn't buy from them, but my DS is a mega fan.

Who do you boycott and why?

OP posts:
theDudesmummy · 24/06/2022 18:12

I would say Wetherspoons but I had never been in one anyway, so not going to one because of Brexit issue isn't exactly a boycott!

I suppose you could say I have boycotted England because of Brexit. I left the country permanently and switched my tax residence to an EU country.

Floralnomad · 24/06/2022 18:13

Ryan Air - just because they are awful
Boots - because one of their pharmacists refused to give my daughter her free flu jab last year because apparently she knows better than NHS England who had sent the invite ( we did show her the letter ) . We wouldn’t pay for one out of principle and had it the next day at Tesco .

ILoveAGoodProsecco · 24/06/2022 18:14

I don't boycott Lush as such, but I refuse to go in there purely because their staff seem to be so full on and totally overbearing I can't stand it.

BlueChip holidays. They know why.

theDudesmummy · 24/06/2022 18:18

I don't really have the option of boycotting Ryanair as I live in the west of Ireland and need to travel for work. But in fact I will go out on a limb and relate that I don't share the hate. When DS was younger he was very difficult on planes (autistic and had a lot of behavioural challenges back then, which required all kind of strategies to be in place). Ryanair staff were actually great on a number of flights.

Letsnotargue · 24/06/2022 18:21

Tesco for their stupid club card pricing. They wanted to charge us double for a meal deal because I’d left my card at home.

I know it’s their choice to offer incentives to cardholders but it feels much more like a non-cardholder fine. So it’s my choice not to go there.

Forpoxsake · 24/06/2022 18:22

HSBC - fund weapons and tech companies that sell directly to Israel

supermarket dates and some fruit and veg from Sainsburys that is grown in Israel occupied land - directly taking business away from Palestinians!

Forpoxsake · 24/06/2022 18:24

Seriously though... I went in there once and the woman was like "Hellooooooo!! How aaaaaare you?!" I honestly couldn't decide whether she was a lion catching her prey or she actually thought I was her long lost sister. She just would not fuck off. "Are you looking for a birthday gift?"
"No I'm just browsing"
"Special occasion is it?"
"No"
"An early Christmas present then?"
"No"
"Let me show you these offers"
"Honestly I'm fine I'm just looking, I'll let you know if I need anything thanks"
"You really don't want to miss these offers, if I can just show..."

Just FUCK OFF WOMAN!!!!! For fucks sake!! Anyone who puts up with that shit deserves a Pride of Britain award.

Forpoxsake · 24/06/2022 18:27

The Tesco Clubcard thing annoys me too, especially because most of the Clubcard offers are not far off the usual price, so it seems like they’re bumping up the non Clubcard prices

Elphame · 24/06/2022 18:28

Nestle and all it’s brands
Dominoes - don’t like it’s religious politics
Any company that sells via MLM

Sports Direct for turning me down for a credit account once. Yes I took it personally and paid with a Coutts credit card instead!

AWobABobBob · 24/06/2022 18:30

I swear this same thread comes up every week and it's always the same...the body shop, the coop...

Frlrlrubert · 24/06/2022 18:33

ASDA: once got a parking ticket because they took 30 minutes to give me change and were super unhelpful when I asked for their support tho challenge it. Luckily the parking company were actually happy to cancel it once I explained.

The Sun: for obvious reasons (not that I read red tops anyway, but them specifically).

Hastings car insurance: their terrible customer service would have left me stranded in Devon (from Yorkshire) because they gave me the wrong information.

Ford: my dad had a rusty one once, the grudge is generational.

NPower: really petty, but they wouldn't change my name on the account without sight of my original marriage certificate, despite not providing ID to give them my name in the first place.

British Gas and NatWest are on their final chance with me after some recent poor customer service.

Derrymum123 · 24/06/2022 18:34

Tesco, because of their clubcard. (Probably other loyalty cards too.) If you are homeless you can't register the card, get vouchers so you pay more than clubcard carrying customers for many offer items. Not fair to be penalised for being homeless.

Daisycrown · 24/06/2022 18:35

Oatly because they're a massive company that tried to sue a small Cambridgeshire family farm because they said their branding was similar....very poor show.
And Lush because of the nonsense they're preaching.
Oh and JKR is a legend! 😁

Daisycrown · 24/06/2022 18:36

Oh add Facebook, Watsapp and TikTok!

Snowpatrolling · 24/06/2022 17:18

I have boycotted frankie and bennies, haven’t stepped foot in one in years!
i ordered a chicken tikka lasagne and it only had 3 small bits of chicken in!
I said something to the waitress but got shrugged at. I still hold a grudge over that as I was so looking forward to it!!

@Snowpatrolling the company doesn’t exist anymore since the lockdowns!! Both that and Garfunkel’s went into administration. F&B was absolute shite anyways so I don’t blame you

Malariahilaria · 24/06/2022 18:39

Bodyshop, lush due to jk rowling treatment.

Yy to anything vegan. Less than 1 or 2 %of the population is vegan. Stop it.

Dyson, brexit, hypocrite.

Next, brexit. Also don't like their sale lies crap.

SweetPetrichor · 24/06/2022 18:39

It’s not really boycotting cause you can’t boycott a person but I loathe JKR, both for her stance on Scottish Independence and trans rights.

I don’t really boycott any companies though.

Floralnomad · 24/06/2022 18:39

Another one is Primrose the gardening people - send you midget versions of what you ordered in the hope that you will take a partial refund and when you refuse take weeks to give you your money back .

I fell victim to this just after Christmas. I just walked away and left them to cancel the transaction and put the stuff back on the shelf.

I only use Tescos now for bread and milk that isn't tainted with that clubcard nonsense.

HoneyFlowers · 24/06/2022 18:43

Specsavers... They actually don't care if you have a problem with your new glasses.
