It's 24th June - 1976 - and I'm off to the corner shop. I'm buying a can of Jusoda and a mint Cornetto.

What will you have ? Tooth decay and pocket money aren't issues.

I do fancy a nice arctic roll. Would go lovely with our vesta curry for tea.

ApolloandDaphne · 24/06/2022 11:58

Get me some lemon Cremola foam please.

KangarooKenny · 24/06/2022 11:59

Can I have a packet of Spangles and those chewy mints that are green and white striped ?

Seeline · 24/06/2022 11:59

I can't come I've got to queue at the stand pipe with a bucket because we've run out of water. It's far too hot to queue - the tarmac is melting!

Pacers....
I'd go for Black Jack's and Rhubarbs and Custards at halfpenny each.
To eat while I read my Whizzer & Chips.

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 24/06/2022 12:03

Sorry I mean Fruit Salads

You had to buy rhubarb and custards in 2oz bags not individually....

WildRosie · 24/06/2022 12:05

Sorry, the corner shop is fresh out of Arctic Rolls, Vesta curries and Pacers. No Jusosa either so I bought Citra Apple Dash instead.

I'd like a cardboard block of Neapolitan ice cream please - but make sure they wrap it in a couple of layers of newspaper so it doesn't melt before you get it back.

CheshireCats · 24/06/2022 12:07

A 10p mix and a jubly please!

AngelsWithSilverWings · 24/06/2022 12:07

2 ounces of rosie apple sweets or aniseed balls for me please! I still remember it cost 6p for two ounces of sweets form the jars behind the counter.

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/06/2022 12:16

After work I'll be buying a piece of fish or chicken or a chop from MacFisheries for my tea like I do every day.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/06/2022 12:19

A quarter of strawberry sherberts and ten Number 6, please. I'm nearly old enough.

Blueuggboots · 24/06/2022 12:21

A bag of ranchero's and a nutty please.

refreshingseahorse · 24/06/2022 12:22

20 Silk Cut and 20 Marlboro (its OK the newsagent knows they're for my mum and dad) and as many 1p / 2p sweets I can get with the change.

WildRosie · 24/06/2022 12:22

I'm not a smoker but my neighbour wants 20 Piccadilly cigarettes. He's a fan of The Sweeney.

10 No.6 and a box of puck matches for me please 😅

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2022 12:27

I've just turned 12. I'm feeling sick because I've had too much sun so I'm not allowed anything from the shop, though if I could I'd have a quarter of midget gems. My bedroom is stiflingly hot and I can't sleep, so I have to share with my younger sibling for the next few weeks, which isn't fun.

I read the OP and thought Pacers!

IANAL · 24/06/2022 12:28

10p mix and a bottle of pink Cresta (which we called 'Frothyman' because of the polar bear on the label saying 'It's frothy, man!')

GU24Mum · 24/06/2022 12:35

Can I have some of those sweets which are designed to look like cigarettes so I can feel grown up?

Or perhaps a frozen mousse from Bejam which is like soup at the top but still frozen at the bottom.

CarnageAtTheAirport · 24/06/2022 12:38

Please may I have a sherbet fountain, 2 white mice, and 2 chocolate logs.
I don’t need any drinks, as I’m waiting for the Alpine van to come round later.

I loved Pacers, Cabana and iced gems. Oh, and wine gums.
No wonder my teeth are crap.

80sMum · 24/06/2022 12:38

I think I'll sit and eat a Bejam choc-ice from the freezer while I watch Bjorn Borg play at Wimbledon on the telly.

tiredanddangerous · 24/06/2022 12:38

I'll have a wham bar and some strawberry bon bons please.
