Patel on Times Radio

"What I would say is we have gone through very publicly a very difficult period."

"It's important that we reflect on these results. We fought these against a difficult and challenging backdrop."

You can see what the whatsapp party line directive was.
Maybe someone could remind them of the reasons why the by-elections were called.

If they don't like the difficult time they have gone through, why did they create the difficulties by being so arrogant?

And here is Sunak

I’m sad that my colleague and friend Oliver Dowden took the decision to resign this morning.

We all take responsibility for the results and I’m determined to continue working to tackle the cost of living, including delivering NICs changes saving 30 million people on average £330

Confused

Is Sunak unaware that the current Chancellor has consistently raised taxes and NI?

Didn't one of the posters on these thread put forward their cat to stand as candidate? I can't remember who but your cat can be deputy.

That was my Ginger. I think he did get some support at the time.

We have cat proof fencing, cost a fortune but means they can roam freely in the garden but can't get out to bother anyone. I think the exMrs Johnson would approve of such controls for tom cats.

John Crwce described that statement as "bare minimum arse covering" which seems about right. No mention of support for Johnson.

Crace not Cwce!

And I guess it easy to forget that most of these distractions werecreated as part of Operation save big dog

Looks like they're planning to drag it out! It's going to make the later days of the Major administration look positively stable.

newnamethanks · 24/06/2022 12:36

Time for Operation Re-home Big Dog. Send for Pen Farthing.

Roussette · 24/06/2022 12:58

He's Big Log to me. Not Big Dog. If you get my meaning.

Well.... the Tories are in a tailspin this morning, aren't they. And how predictable that Johnson is elsewhere. His interview this morning made me want to throw something at the telly. Why does he smirk so much?

balalake · 24/06/2022 13:01

Big Log is insulting to big logs, as they have a purpose and serve a value. And if flushed away in the right manner don't harm anyone.

SueSaid · 24/06/2022 13:22

'He's Big Log to me'

Big log? Yet folk on here and other threads get so outraged over Sir Beer Grin

Roussette · 24/06/2022 13:22

😂🤣 Big Log yes!

Bloody hell.... Ben Elliott has been appointed in place of Dowden. This is the Ben Elliott who has a company to schmooze Russian oligarchs. And his company managed to procure PCR and antigen tests for ££££££ for his clients when no one else could get hold of them. And he has not cut ties to Russia
He is very murky.

Oh and he's Camilla P-B's nephew.

Yes, he's Big Log to me as I said.

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 13:24

Ben Elliot was previously Co chair with Dowden.

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 13:26

I agree that BE's business has some very murky relationships with oligarchs - it doesn't seem to bother the Conservatives...

It shows that the Tory Party are continuing to listen to the people who pay the bills

Janii- if you are busy complaining about how MN refers to Johnson you've rather missed today's big political story.

for the gazillionth time - no people point out the insufferable hypocrisy of your inability to refrain from indulging in name calling yourself whilst posting comments about how superior you are and ‘don’t get it’.

it’s quite literally nothing to do with defending Starmer, BJ or indeed politics. It’s the point you persist in making like some sort of forum mosquito.

Roussette · 24/06/2022 13:28

Thanks Notonthestairs
I didn't realise that.

Just seen this
"The other co-chair is Ben Elliott, who is not a parliamentarian and who has been focused on fundraising. He could not replace Dowden on his own without having to adopt a more public role, which so far he has resisted, perhaps because if he gave interviews he would face questions about his business interests."

Cornettoninja · 24/06/2022 13:28

Ben Elliot? The guy who threw a rather good party wasn’t it?

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 13:29

"Reminder from our poll that the Tory vote in Wakefield is now reduced to a core vote rump of over-65s. Not enough to win Wakefield or many other seats like it."

💥Sky correspondent in Wakefield cannot get any local Tory MP to come on, but did get this quote: "PM is being kept in power by two groups of MPs: first, those desperate to keep their ministerial positions, and second, the incurably stupid who still think he's a vote winner." ~AA

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 13:35

I suspect they'll appoint another co-chair rather than have Elliot (and his business model) become more prominent.

@JaniieJones any idea why the by-elections were so distavorous for your beloved Tory party?

Roussette · 24/06/2022 13:37

I'd be really interested in all the regulars on here... their predictions of how it's going to play out?

Me...
He won't go. He's said this many a time. When my MP, a true loyalist, wants him to go, his time is up. But he missed out on self awareness totally

I think the party will plot against him, and more scandals will emerge. I think the country will descend into chaos as there will be no governance or leadership because of too much in-fighting.

Then... just when it looks like the rules have been changed and there's another VONC he will call a snap GE.
