Scones are supposed to be sweet. What monster came up with that combination?

I was one of those agreeing they were an abomination, but I bought a pack on recommendation of someone (I'll dig their name out in a minute) and had them with the soup (roasted pepper) and salted butter. They weren't bad at all and I'd have them again!
