Stolen from HannibalHeyes on the Brexit thread

Quite a few ‘future historians will judge Boris Johnson as…’ takes. Many of them ask whether he will be viewed as the UK’s worst Prime Minister. As a historian I don’t think we have to wait for the future to judge: here is why I think we can say now that yes, he is the worst.

Thanks for that. It's chilling and very Trumpesque, isn't it? It's like groundhog day with those two. He left behind a legacy of hate and is still fostering it. And this is what we have over here now.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 09:03

That’s a great article @DuncinToffee (credit to HannibalHayes). I’m glad to see a stark list of his antics and wish there was a list that accompanied more write ups about him. He’s normalised whatever the hell he is.

Devoid is a great word to describe him.

573 new billionaires since 2020
26402 new food bank users since 2019/2020.

It's estimated that a third of billionaires donate to the conservative party.

A good government would have created fewer billionaires and had fewer people starving.

The parties are a symptom of bad governance, something tangible that we can all see. The real problem is the poor governance at the expense of the vulnerable and poor.

That's without price hikes, nhs wait times, under resource of public bodies etc.

And 211 conservative MPs think that this is good.

Blossomtoes · 08/06/2022 10:09

And 211 conservative MPs think that this is good

I’m not sure they do, they just know which side their bread’s buttered. I saw somewhere that it would be interesting to know how many of the 211 would have voted for if they’d known as many as 148 would vote against.

Johnson fan girl, Allison Pearson, is complaining in the Telegraph this morning that she and her WhatsApp group of adoring acolytes feel like betrayed wives because Johnson isn’t Tory enough! You couldn’t make it up.

2006 Johnson article calling Blair a "human limpet" for not knowing when his time is up.

I'm wondering whether I can bring myself to listen to hee-hawing PMQs.

Notonthestairs · 08/06/2022 11:23

Interesting thread about polling pre-election. It seems CCHQ didn't like what they were reading and threatened the pollsters.

"Despite it being entirely predictable, everybody panicked at the backlash to the MRP. Nadhim Zahawi called up the CEO and said he would call for his resignation if he was wrong. It became pretty clear we would all be out of a job if we were wrong now."

twitter.com/chriscurtis94/status/1534451799511408641?s=21&t=iIK99ght64KW9rplSjYaZQ

Goes on...

"But despite having written the story and designed the charts, we were banned from releasing the story because it was too positive about Labour."

twitter.com/chriscurtis94/status/1534452779460206592?s=21&t=iIK99ght64KW9rplSjYaZQ

So pollsters are essentially treated as an arm of government?

Blossomtoes · 08/06/2022 11:27

I love seeing his words coming back to haunt him. Are bookies taking bets on how long he’ll cling on?

DuncinToffee · 08/06/2022 11:45

He got all the big calls right.....

He did. Bungs to his mates.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 12:06

I’d hate to see him getting the big calls wrong.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 12:11

BJ sounds on edge in PMQ’s today. I detect the beginnings of a spectacular tantrum.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 12:12

He really can’t hold a conversation without sound bites can he?

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:18

Good god... he's dripping with lies today. It's incredible. No one believes him any more except his sycophants

Peregrina · 08/06/2022 12:19

I would really like to see random drug testing in the HoP. Many firms do this as a matter of course.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:20

He is also very very bad tempered today.

Bring on Ian Blackford!

What’s he saying?

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 12:25

LBC yesterday recognised that BJ is a good orator, today he’s full of splutters and stutterings.

He’s rattled.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 12:28

What’s he saying?

variations of previous statements of how Britain is living in a golden age orchastrated by his government whilst the rest of us go ‘huh?’

Peregrina · 08/06/2022 12:30

It's just painful to watch, isn't it? When he's finished um, um, erring, his promises are hollow.
This is the person that an OP on another thread described as a good communicator.

Roussette · 08/06/2022 12:32

Blossomtoes · 08/06/2022 12:24

What’s he saying?

The 40 new hospitals, waiting lists reducing that type of thing.

Cornettoninja · 08/06/2022 13:37

Or the ‘more new nurses than this time last year’ without touching on the numbers of HCP’s who’ve left over the last two years.

DuncinToffee · 08/06/2022 14:01

I couldn't watch it but just saw this clip of Keir Starmer's last question
