"Should" in the sense of "ought to" rather than "will probably". Two left leaning political parties negotiating in good faith and strongly motivated to do the best thing for their country/countries and keep out the sodding Tories ought be able to manage a deal without bloodshed.

However....

I don't think Labour would win a GE outright, though. It would be a hung Parliament.

Latest polls suggest Labour would be exceedingly close to an overall majority.

I've watched and read it all now

Basically HE LIED. He said he 'nearly died'. Ministers parroted this endlessly
Because of FOI it's been proved he didn't nearly die. When he realised the cat was out the bag it turned from 'nearly died' to 'i got it really mild'

So this in a way is nothing new in that we know HE LIES

Lying bag of lies in 'Lying bag of lies lies' shocker 😃

NEW; extract of PM speech to ‘22 at 4pm. Warns MPs ‘not to get into some Groundhog Day debate” about the single market’ reigniting old rows & reminds them of his stinking election victory (prob now is many think he’s a drag anchor on the story brand)

Can anyone summarise the thing about Boris in hospital? Where I am right now, I can't watch the videos!

The raison d'être of the SNP is to gain independence for Scotland Labour would have to agree to another independence referendum. If that happened and Scotland voted Yes the break up of the Union would ensue. Any possibility of more Scottish Labour seats would disappear immediately

I sort of did at 15.20. there's more to it than that but what I posted was the bare bones

prettybird · 06/06/2022 16:33

Blair would still have won his majorities even without Scotland.

Contrary to received wisdom, Scotland isn't needed in order for Labour to win in WM Confused

Still amazed it's as high as it is for him to stay. But what I know...

Love him or loathe him, Blair was a charismatic and clever politician. Keir is a decent man but not greatly charismatic.

"Handbags at the ‘22…

Mark Harper asks why “colleagues should continue to defend the indefensible” and asks why PM removed references to “honesty and integrity” from foreword of ministerial code

Adds: “There’s no point the prime minister pulling a face at me.”

PM pulling faces - now there's a surprise.

Pippa Crerar
Boris Johnson gives Tory MPs reasons not to vote against him:

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Labour coalition with SNP more likely
🪆Putin could step up aggression in Ukraine
🗞they’d be dancing to tune of the media
💷 lower taxes

Not sure it will address concerns many have about the direction of govt.

And here is Dorries

Nadine Dorries tells the world that the donors own the Conservative Party.

Even if Miliband had won every single seat in Scotland (ie 59 instead of one - so winning all 56 SNP seats and the LibDem seat and Fluffy's the Conservative seat) in 2015, Cameron would still have won Confused

Everything to do with the number of English seats and nothing to do with the charisma or otherwise of the Labour leader Hmm

I long for that. Sod the charisma. I want someone clever, honest and capable. Surely it's not too much to ask?
There's too much grandstanding in the Tory party at the moment, no wonder they can't find a replacement for BJ

Roussette · 06/06/2022 16:57

Does Dorries think before she speaks? No need to answer, I know she doesn't!

I don't think Labour would win a GE outright, though. It would be a hung Parliament.

And that would be the best possible outcome - an alliance of everyone but the Tories is my dream. If this debacle has proved anything it’s that huge majorities are very unhealthy.

Piggywaspushed · 06/06/2022 16:59

Ah ,Nadine, my MP.

Go me.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 17:01

I agree with you but BJ and Corbyn both chased decent people out of their parties. Plus you need to have the hide of a rhinoceros to be PM.

There's not going to be a massive landslide for Labour in England in the next election
