The country is a shit show - why is there so little mention of Brexit's role?

That's it really.

Surely all our woes can't be placed at the door of covid and war - it is a good political narrative, but is it really true?

I'm amazed how little questioning by the media and public there is about the role of Brexit.

Oh fuck yes! My property in the Costa and rural retreat in the Perinnese! Other than those and my estate in South of France I’m fine. My dream to invest further into my European property portfolio is admittedly smashed tho :(

Ha ha Plenty of normal people had a small property/canal boat/static caravan in France, until fairly recently it was incredibly cheap, 30 or 40k to get a doer upper.

Where is the Perinnese? What department is that?

You also demonstrate the point that Leavers were/are selfish, doesn't benefit them, so why should it benefit anyone else?

Leave won not because the usual cohort voted either way but because Leave mobilised a few 100 '000 folk who never normally voted and got them to vote Leave.

Which is exactly why IDS was grinning, he knew they'd never win without these folk, it was a blindingly brilliant strategy, Cummings i believe.

Join the non EU queue, wait an age to have it stamped and date checked..

Yes this really shouldn’t take an age should it

why shouldn't it?

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 18:01

Oh catch yourself on. Plenty of WC UK citizens were able to retire or at least spend the winter years abroad. My aunt had a fruit and veg stall, her husband was a 2nd hand car salesman. They bought a small flat abroad after he had a stroke. Regular WC people who did well.

You sound resentful of such people @P00rKids.

Because it’s a stamp and a date check like you said.

You can think i’m resentful if u like. That’s fine by me chuck 😊

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 18:27

I get that you feel you didn't benefit from FOM, but neither you nor @Florenz have told me of how it's end has made your life and community better? What have you gained?

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 18:53

Fundamentally I am not a fan of FOM through Europe right now so u are probably choosing to debate with the wrong person. I was never a fan of FOM beforehand. I voted for Brexit, stand by the decision and am not resentful of anyone

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 18:54

Oh except the EU leaders

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 18:56

Oh and I see what you’re relentlessly doing/pushing for@TooBigForMyBoots😂

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 18:58

It’s not racist 😊

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 19:07

I'm pushing for an answer to the question "what have you gained from the end of FOM?"

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 19:22

Why though? Why are you pushing? FOM or removal of FOM has had no impact, ever on my life. As answered?

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 19:28

Oh right. I thought that was your reason for voting Leave.💐

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 19:30

It has impacted your life though. It has contributed to our increased cost of food.

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 19:34

I previously bought mass processed food that had travelled half way across Europe and back during the production and packaging process. I don’t now 😂

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 19:35

There are many disadvantages to FOM mostly not to the UK

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 19:43

I was talking about British farmed food. That could not be picked, processed, slaughtered or certified because we lost highly skilled agri workers.

@P00rKids
What do you eat then?
Has you diet changed since Brexit?
Genuine question.

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 19:55

Same food really, I was making a point of trying to answer the question. Now I have done, I’m wondering why and what the response will be. Hopefully soon the companies producing my food will have streamlined the production of their products and no longer be pointlessly transporting to various countries to be messed around with for no reason?

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 19:57

Oh response .... I don’t mean that food 😂

DoraSpenlow · 11/06/2022 19:59

TooBigForMyBoots · 11/06/2022 17:02

Yeah, but you dont get to swan through the Green Channels, and entitlement to EHIC has ended. Those who were lucky enough to have bought abroad, are no longer able to live or even spend all the colder months in them. Have Duty Free allowances come back in yet?

How has end of FOM benefited you@P00rKids?

Entitlement to EHIC has not ended.

Of course, it only takes a few seconds extra doesn't? trouble is there are 1000s of people coming into passport control and those seconds add up.. into hours.

I didn't say you are resentful, perhaps a lack of aspiration?

UK hasn't the capacity, either with factories or labour to source, process, pack, warehouse, deliver products & that covers food to medicines.. thats why products are sent around europe - its not done for fun of it.

Or do you think those 1.2m unemployed should do it?
They are going to be very busy training to become nurses, physio's, OT's, pharmacists, police, paramedics, food production, agri, carers, vets, GPs, baggage handlers, security ... etc

If only we'd known they were all so multiskilled?

Florenz · 11/06/2022 20:19

What have I gained from the end of FOM?

Hope for the future. Better lives for our children and grandchildren. A country where everyone is paid a decent wage, whether they are "clever, adventurous and ambitious" or just want to work for a living.

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 20:19

1000x 3 seconds? = several hours? Well we managed before with our check in and security staff. Is it really worth all this debate. Maybe we should just ... sort it out?

Yes my sons EHIC has just been done, thanks for the reminder, but other than that, you’re making shit up to suit your agenda. I’m not racist thankyou.

P00rKids · 11/06/2022 20:20

Lack of aspiration? In what what please? What SHOULD I be aspiring to exactly?
