I feel so heartbroken at Ray Liotta passing away. My husband and friends must think I'm crackers but I genuinely have been fond of him for years and years. I always hoped I would meet him one day and believed

Posted too soon

Believed I would somehow. Just feel so sad this morning. Even though I never knew him I really admired him and his work for a long time. I know that must sound ridiculous but I do feel so sad.

Chadwick Boseman.

that fact that he filmed all those films while secretly dying of cancer just breaks my heart.

SusieMyersonAndAssociates · 27/05/2022 09:53

Robin Williams.

its still too soon for me.

Bunty55 · 27/05/2022 09:54

I was very sad at the death of Caroline Flack. It all seemed so awful and cruel. The media have a lot to answer for

UndertheEagle · 27/05/2022 09:55

David Bowie. I was heartbroken. I've loved him since I was 15, I'm now 60. I saw him in concert many times. He died far too young.

FeltCarrot · 27/05/2022 09:56

Still can’t believe that Sean Lock is no longer with us.

shiningstar2 · 27/05/2022 09:57

Back in the day I was very upset when Princess Diana died. Maybe royals not counted as celebs but certainly in the public eye. I know I will be upset when the Queen goes and I'm not really a royal follower or fan.

pheonixrebirth · 27/05/2022 09:58

Another one for Robin Williams.
I kept breaking down crying randomly.
I think the fact someone who brought the world so much joy could die in such a tragic way. The pain he must of been in to do that.

florianfortescue · 27/05/2022 09:58

Taylor Hawkins and Helen McCrory. Both were obviously completely different but they were both people I admired a lot and who seemed to embody a vitality and love of life that makes their deaths seem especially upsetting somehow.

Shakeupandwakeup · 27/05/2022 09:59

Kirsty McColl. She was so young, it was such a tragic accident. I'd just been to see her on her previous tour and she was amazing live.

Hadalifeonce · 27/05/2022 09:59

I had just arrived at a venue for a meeting when I heard about David Cassidy's death; I burst into tears and was late for the meeting.

Robin Williams.

This made me very sad.

There was an actor called Andy Whitfield who played Spartacus with John Hannah. He died at 40 years old leaving a wife and young children.

JenniferBarkley · 27/05/2022 10:02

He isn't dead, but I felt similar when Michael Schumacher had his accident and the extent of his injuries became clear, I've been a huge fan of his since the mid 90s.

Also, Stephen Gately - I was never a huge Boyzone fan but it wasn't long after my best friend died and I really felt for the rest of the group and the family.

Sometimes these things just get under our skin, I think it's natural. If it happened with every celebrity death I'd worry!

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 27/05/2022 10:03

Paul Ritter (Friday Night Dinner)

Such an understated and underrated actor in both drama and comic roles and seemed like a lovely bloke in real life.

I was lucky enough to see him on stage back in 2019.

It just seems such a waste.

kissmelittleass · 27/05/2022 10:05

Princess Diana and George Michael really made me cry

Arnaque · 27/05/2022 10:06

George Michael, I still cry when I hear some of his songs, in particular a Different Corner. My OH thinks it’s bonkers.

cottagegardenflower · 27/05/2022 10:08

George Michael and Freddy Mercury really affected me. So sad and I still think of the loss to the world of music.

AdamRyan · 27/05/2022 10:09

Stephen Gately made me so sad. Way too young and sad to think of him dying alone like that.
And Peaches Geldof. I feel very sorry that she had the trauma of her mum dying that way and then repeated the pattern for her own children

annonymousse · 27/05/2022 10:10

Freddie mercury for me too. I think because my sister introduced me to Queen and she died at age 18 and when he died it felt like another link was gone.

ClinkeyMonkey · 27/05/2022 10:11

I didn't realise Ray Liotta had died. He was a fantastic actor.

For me it was Charlotte Coleman. She was only 33 (I was 34 at the time) and the fact she died of an asthma attack just seemed such a shock. I know asthma can be deadly but it is so common, I think it's easy to forget that this can happen. Not if you've got asthma though. DS2 has it and I'm always mindful of what happened to Charlotte Coleman when we get a little complacent because he hasn't had any issues - obviously that's the preventer doing its job.

villandrysnose · 27/05/2022 10:13

David Bowie. It was such a shock hearing it on the radio.
I can remember how upset people were at John Lennon's death. I went in to the sixth form common room that morning, and his music was playing and people were in tears.
Also, Paula Yates. Her life had been I such turmoil before her death, and the fact that she had left behind four children, the youngest of whom had been with her when she died, just seemed so tragic.

DownNative · 27/05/2022 10:14

The passing of Michael Jackson and Paul Ritter were the ones for me. Especially Michael whose passing I still find unbelievable to this day. Rotter was a comedic genius in Friday Night Dinner.

I think it's normal to feel sad and even grieve these people, but I don't think it should take over your life. However, I know it can be difficult for some to not be incredibly affected.

viques · 27/05/2022 10:14

George Harrison, he was my Beatle.

LindaEllen · 27/05/2022 10:16

I was upset when Alan Rickman died, and I'm really not the type to get upset over the deaths of people I don't know personally.

zafferana · 27/05/2022 10:17

George Michael for me too - his voice was so amazing and I just found it so sad that his life ended when he was still so young. Only 53 - that's a year older than my DH is now Sad

And Michael Schumacher too. I was a huge fan of his - just such a phenomenal talent in his day. When the extent of his injuries became clear and the fact that he will never recover it haunted me for ages and still does when I think about it.
