I feel so heartbroken at Ray Liotta passing away. My husband and friends must think I'm crackers but I genuinely have been fond of him for years and years. I always hoped I would meet him one day and believed

Prince - I had loved him and his music since I was 10 years old.

Michael Hutchence - My first crush and I played Kick over and over again.

Paul Walker (actor). Very shallow of me but I thought he was so handsome and it was a horrible way to go.

RedPlumbob · 27/05/2022 11:47

Robin Williams
Chester Bennington

Men properly dominating this thread (including a few sex offenders). I wonder if people just like men more, if it's that there are more men in the public eye, or if men are more likely to die early because of suicide/reckless behaviour and therefore shock us more. Probably a combination of all that.

BilboBagBin · 27/05/2022 11:56

@Pandaparty what have I missed? Who are you alleging is a sex offender? You are right about not many women getting mentioned.

CrunchyCarrot · 27/05/2022 11:56

John Denver, after he was killed in a microlite crash. Was a huge fan of his music and had seen him in an outdoor concert in Melbourne. I still feel sad he's gone when listening to his music.

peterpiperpickedapiece · 27/05/2022 11:57

Rik Mayall. He was amazing and I was gutted 😭

Snard4 · 27/05/2022 11:57

Taylor Hawkins 😢

Cheesecakeandwineinasuitcase · 27/05/2022 11:58

Jade Goody affected me. I wasn’t a fan of hers but I remember her being so young and full of life. Her death seemed particularly cruel because she was taken at such a young age and her boys were so little and needed their mum. Just so heartbreaking and although she made some poor choices (as we all do) I feel that she showed such bravery towards the end and did a lot for raising awareness of cervical cancer.

woodhill · 27/05/2022 11:59

Yes, David Bowie and John Lennon as a teen

stayathomer · 27/05/2022 12:01

Big giant hugs op, when John Thaw (who my dad loved) died I was inconsolable, same with Pavorotti who died of cancer when my dad was fighting it. I remember when Freddy mercury and Ronald Dahl died I couldn’t believe it and my friend fell apart at Michael Jackson and Whitney Hope you’re okay, he seemed very cool

juliainthedeepwater · 27/05/2022 12:04

Yes, James Gandolfini

Pyewhacket · 27/05/2022 12:05

I see death almost every day of my life so no, never have.

Whoatealltheminieggs · 27/05/2022 12:05

Victoria Wood’s death made me very sad. Watching her old stand ups and sketches got me through so many hard times. She was such a loss.

Fireflygal · 27/05/2022 12:06

Amy Whitehouse. Just seemed such a waste and so sad as she was amazingly talented.

George Michael, couldn't quite believe it.

lizziesiddal79 · 27/05/2022 12:09

River Phoenix when I was 14.

LetHimHaveIt · 27/05/2022 12:13

George Michael and Victoria Wood, principally. Alan Rickman, Michael Elphick and Paul Ritter quite a lot. And Brad Renfro. He was such an engaging, natural child actor and his life just imploded.

hugoagogo · 27/05/2022 12:23

John Peel for me. Just sobbed and sobbed.Sad
He was such a constant in my life til then all through secondary school and uni.
More recently Mark Keds.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 27/05/2022 12:33

I felt sad at the death of Witney Houston but I was so, so sad when I heard about her daughter dying. Such a bloody shame.

tootrueblue · 27/05/2022 12:42

I remember being utterly shocked at Michael Jackson, just couldn't get my head around it.

I will be incredibly sad when both the Queen and Anthony Hopkins pass away

Deadivy · 27/05/2022 12:49

David Bowie. Can't listen to Blackstar without crying. I was also shocked when Lou Reed, Amy Winehouse , Rik Mayall, Peaches Geldof and Charlotte Coleman died.

Dundonian · 27/05/2022 12:49

George Michael. I grew up with his music and to know he was such a troubled soul, dying way before his time, was very sad. His voice, to me, was magical and he brought so much happiness to people. I do hope he's at peace now.

MintyCedricRidesAgain · 27/05/2022 10:03

Paul Ritter (Friday Night Dinner)

Such an understated and underrated actor in both drama and comic roles and seemed like a lovely bloke in real life.

I was lucky enough to see him on stage back in 2019.

It just seems such a waste.

Definitely this one. I was so gutted. FND is my absolute favourite comedy.

LadyCampanulaTottington · 27/05/2022 12:58

Ruth Bader Ginsburg- yes she was elderly but she represented so much hope and look what has happened now.

Brittany Murphy. I cut my teeth on Clueless and I loved her. Such a shocking and tragic death.
