Go on then. I dare you.

I wouldn't want to live at the mercy of emergency budgets timed to hide bad news to cash in on £650 but yeah, I'll double dare you.

Too right Dog. Otherwise there'll be bile spewed about beer n' fags and flat screen TVs...

Well, flat screens are more energy efficient than CRTs...

Legofigure · 26/05/2022 14:08

Thank you @Sirzy @pizzaand, although you are right Sirzy it won’t in anyway cover our increases in costs related to DS’s disabilities.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for young people working 50+ hours on minimum wage trying to save deposit to see others just given free cash.

Ahh, but if you got close enough you could keep your face warm.

Aren't they getting £400 then?

Legofigure · 26/05/2022 14:10

It would have been nice to see some support for unpaid carers too.

It isn't free cash though is it?
They are taking the excessive profit from energy companies and paying it back.
It's money we are already paying.

@Pebble21uk I don’t get DLA for myself, my 8 year old does. Does that mean we still get the £150 DLA payment if the DLA award is for the child?

anybody know? Thanks

It must be because now the vast majority of dla is to children

We don’t matter it seems

Mol1628 · 26/05/2022 14:12

@Greysofa absolutely agree with you it is so frustrating.

We haven't had £200 yet, when is that due?

I actually don't agree with this, it should have been pro rata on your bill, due to having an energy efficient house £600 is nearly half my predicted bill for 2022 - others need more help than us (plus we earn decent incomes, well he does). We need to talk about it but I think we should donate ours to the food bank

It definitely should not be pro-rata on your bill. That would mean millionaires in mansions would get more than a pensioner only heating one room

Thank you. I did think actually when I posted DLA is the child’s version mostly, so we must do.

I’ve just checked the gov link on this thread and it seems so.

Young people pay for energy as well

caringcarer · 26/05/2022 14:14

@fourteagallout, not if they still live at home they won't. Their parents will get it as home owners.

Is it Scotland where they get the carers supplement or something like that?

I had hoped we would get something like that too….

So the home they are living in will benefit from the grant? It is an intervention into rising energy costs, not pocket money afterall.

If they live at home with their parents then they don't need help paying fuel bills. Confused

It would have been nice wouldn’t it. Yes, Scottish carers get a supplement and I think Wales are going to do something similar.

icelolly12 · 26/05/2022 14:18

Hmm, I'll be a bit annoyed if every unemployed person gets an extra 650 on top of the 400, not going to lie.

LilacPoppy · 26/05/2022 14:20

@icelolly12 in what way would your life be improved by people not being cold and hungry?

My life won't be improved...that's the point. I'll still have to slave away and not be able to pay my bills. Yay.

Let’s hope we catch up and they do similar for us! Would be nice x

FlySwimmer · 26/05/2022 14:22

Personally, I think the payment to pensioners shouldn’t be a blanket one. Many pensioners are very well off, and don’t need this really. It should be means-tested.
