How did Braverman get a 50% approval?!

The people they asked hadn’t seen that clip! Emily Thornberry’s face was a picture.

DuncinToffee · 30/05/2022 15:11

Lewis Goodall
So that’s two of the most prominent Conservative backbench lawyers, one the Chair of the Justice Select Committee and the other the former Attorney General, calling on the Prime Minister to resign over the past few days.

Roussette · 30/05/2022 15:12

That statement by a former AG really rings true.

Even on MN posters have said...if there's ever any sort of lockdown,.I will be taking no notice of it, given the government ignore their own rules.

He's lost trust big time

They are openly laughing at us now

NEW: Boris Johnson’s spokesman NOT denying gathering in Downing Street flat on the evening of PM’s birthday in June 2020.

He points to terms of reference of Sue Gray report ie suggests she could’ve looked into it if she’d wanted to.

Notonthestairs · 30/05/2022 15:17

"Elliot Colburn, one of the Conservative Party's youngest MPs, has become the 26th Tory to publicly call for Boris Johnson to resign in the wake of the partygate scandal"

That's what makes it so dangerous and is why we shouldn't just 'move on'

Notonthestairs · 30/05/2022 15:25

"Rumour doing the rounds that the magic number has been reached but Brady waiting until after recess/jubilee to pull the trigger..."

"All the usual caveats apply - no one really knows except Brady - but I'm aware of more letters being submitted than have been publicly confirmed. There is talk of coordination among the ONTs..."

I lifted that image from the daily Mail. The poll was taken from here www.conservativehome.com/thetorydiary/2022/05/cabinet-league-table-johnson-is-back-in-negative-ratings.html.

So I don’t really have an answer to your question other than they’re tories 🤷‍♀️

^This... CV may well come back in a more severe version, even if it doesn't, the vaccines will not be so effective next Winter.

How on earth could he stand there, surrounded by flags and tell us to abide by new restrictions? or even argue his case in Parliament.

Anyone know approx when Durham Police will report back?

itsgettingweird · 30/05/2022 16:03

The biggest point we've all made since this started is that whatever he did - if he doesn't lead by example he'll lose the willingness of the public to follow any rules.

It won't matter if it's another covid lockdown or something else.

Who is going to follow his lead - because he asked us too - knowing that he won't do the same.

He'll just change the rules for him.

I really do fear for this winter with fuel rises as well as potential power cuts alongside the cost of living crisis.

A disenfranchised population is one thing - a cold and hungry and bored population is a whole other level.

Notonthestairs · 30/05/2022 16:46

I can't for the life of me work out whether this means she's put a letter in or not! Do Prime Ministers often call their own confidence vote?

NEW: Former Tory vice chair Nickie Aiken urges Boris Johnson to call a confidence vote in letter to constituents

Aiken was “incredulous and appalled” over Sue Gray report and fears partygate has “damaged the Government and the Conservative Party”

mmmmmmghturep · 30/05/2022 16:47

Im not obeying any more lockdowns no matter who is in charge. They wernt supposed to be policy.

Notonthestairs · 30/05/2022 16:48

"He'll just change the rules for him. "

I don't think he'll even bother changing the rules - he's got hold of all of the mechanisms that are intended to check him.

Why would anyone be prepared to listen to him again?

Roussette · 30/05/2022 16:56

No one would listen to him again. Everything he says, what he declares he's doing...I automatically assume the opposite because he lies ALL the time.

Don't trust him, now don't trust the Government, we've slid into this state and we're in trouble

"Poulter says he will "consider all available evidence" and notes the Privileges Committee investigation is just cranking up. Sky News learnt earlier today that messages from Carrie Johnson are expected to be called in for that inquiry"

Anyone else expect CJ's phone messages to have been accidentally deleted or the phone replaced by the time they come to look at these? They have form.

balalake · 30/05/2022 17:22

Carrie Johnson could easily argue coercion or mental health reasons not to appear before the Privileges Committee. Her husband has previous form for threatening people.

She could but she won’t. If she did that it would end Johnson’s career as well as her marriage. It doesn’t look as if that point’s yet been reached. I have no doubt it will be quite quickly once he’s out of office.

newnamethanks · 30/05/2022 18:57

Nothing to stop her following the Vardy example. Dont get on that boat, Carrie, oh no . . .

DuncinToffee · 30/05/2022 19:46

Andrew Bridgen has re submitted his letter of no confidence

Blossomtoes · 30/05/2022 19:53

Is it just me who doesn’t understand why they’re resubmitting?

DuncinToffee · 30/05/2022 19:56

Bridgen withdrew his because of Ukraine, so has now changed his mind and sent the letter in again.

prettybird · 30/05/2022 19:59

DRoss (pun intended Wink), the Scottish Tory leader, withdrew his letter after the Ukraine War started.

He now says, after the publication of Sue Gray's report, that BJ should resign "after the war" HmmConfused

DuncinToffee · 30/05/2022 20:02

Tom Larkin latest

End (?) of Monday update:

27 MPs now publicly calling for PM to go asap (+3 today, +12 since Gray)
12 more MPs questioning his position - some heavily hinting their letters are in (+4 today)

What's the option up from trickle? Stream? Today feels quite stream-y

Thanks Duncin. I hadn’t realised that.
