Or no one ever talks about them anymore.

I will offer chocolate covered cornflakes, which used to be in high street baker's windows every eater with confectionary eggs atop. A staple home economics recipe, I recall running home from school with a large tin, convinced that I was going to blow everyone's mind with my culinary genius.

And Spam. Like 'corned beef', but the pork version, also in a tin. That curious shape, reminded me of feeding the cat. My DH watches a lot of wild camping/van man stuff in Japan on youtube and it seems to be having a resurgence..

The biscuits that were like custard creams but with coconut, and a bit crumbly. I’d love to find those!

Ratonastick · 21/05/2022 08:13

Pink and white nougat with odd peanuts in it. It came in a big chunky bar and my DBs and I got one to share between the three of us when we visited our Great Gran. King Solomon himself was never required to make such a momentous decision about sharing portions

And Worcester Sauce Wheat Crunchies. Crispy bacon ones are good, but WS were the absolute nuts.

Neveranynamesleft · 21/05/2022 08:21

Pillsbury dough Chelsea buns.
Came in a cardboard tube type of tin that you twisted around/unwrapped to get at the dough. Think there was 6 buns that you had to unsquish and put on a baking tray in the oven. Not sure if these still going or not..

I've been trying to find tinned puddings. The silly little ones in plastic pots just aren't quite the same. We could get them easily in the supermarket 2-3 years ago.

I miss proper Angel Delight. The modern stuff is disappointment in a sachet.

Afonavon · 21/05/2022 08:31

I miss:

Phileas Fogg Californian Corn Chips.
Mushroom Feast (possibly only available in Kwiks (Kwiks Save)
School custard
Bread pudding from bakeries, it’s all cruffins and fancy-pants pastries now.
Mighty White sliced loaf. I bloody lived on it, it was addictive!
Findus Crispy pancakes (now Bird’s Eye and not great)
Nice and Spicy Pot Noodle

Not disappeared, but increasingly difficult to find: Caramac bars and Mackies crisps

It's not quite the same, but JusRol do cinnamon swirls.www.jusrol.co.uk/products/cinnamon-swirls

I miss Quatro, though my teeth don’t. It was a gorgeous flavour and super sweet, which I adored.

Does anyone else remember M&S Deltas? They were just plain potato triangles but so good and so addictive. They stopped selling them then Sainsburys sold a version then they stopped selling them too. I'm still in mourning.

I was coming on to mention these x

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 21/05/2022 09:29

Fry's chocolate creams where each square was a different fruity flavour, omg so delicious. Cremola foam, used to love cracking open the tin and tearing into the paper with a spoon. I also remember a long fruit twist chew, with 4 or 5 fruit flavours, can't remember it's name. Pot Noodle also had an amazing Mexican one, Flaming Fajitas?

Fry’s Five Centres! I used to love these so much. Part of me knows that, if I went back in time and had one now, the five flavours would all taste the same, but I’d still love to try 😍

I'm always pleased when other people remember Fiendish Feet yoghurts as I convince myself I've made them up.

Found a frozen Sara Lee Double Chocolate Gateau in a corner shop recently and bought it for the nostalgia mostly. Didn't think it would taste as good as I remembered but had to stop myself from eating the whole thing myself in the kitchen and telling the family that it had mysteriously disappeared.

Loved old school dinner puddings - chocolate custard with school cake (sponge topped with icing and hundreds and thousands) and caramel slice with custard.

Had completely forgotten about pink and white nougat with peanuts.

Haven't seen Irn Bru bars for a while.

Tripe (don't think it needs to come back though!) I remember it being in great piles at the front of the market butcher's display fridge when I was a child, such was it's popularity 🤢

I remember UCP tripe shops: I don’t think they sold anything else but we didn’t go in so I don’t know.

My poor uncle had “a bad stomach” and had been told to eat it as it was easily digested. He did, but I don’t know if he liked it.

Here are 103 pages about UCP tripe.

oh thank you @Rememberallball thats brilliant !
Does anyone remember funny feet ice lollies ?

Malbecfan · 21/05/2022 13:28

I braved Home Bargains this morning (very close to a Haven site, so Saturdays are a bit mad). Sad to report that only microwave steamed puddings are available. DH said Heinz stopped making them several years ago and it looks like he might be correct.

vesta beef or chicken curry; Probably tasted like crap but fond memories, make everything with water from dried powder packets, I suppose it was overtaken by microwave meals.

That cadburys bar with like a crackly spiral shell - secret (I googled) - very sweet but it was nice.

and 'set yoghurts' whatever happened them. Think they were yoplait. All flavours - vanilla, raspberry, strawberry, lemon etc. they obviously had gelatin in them but no lumps. There is nothing like them on the market anymore. I wonder why. Greek yoghurt is the nearest but way too heavy.

I loved Secret bars too! Also set yogurts I find sometimes (I got some from Asda about 6 months ago?) but yes you see rarely and I absolutely love the lemon ones, I always get a pack when I see them.

I've read all through and have found no mention of:
Eiffel Tower lemonade crystals sold in a tall glass jar. Mixed with boiling water and left to cool. Wonderful!

Kunzle cakes - chocolate shells filled with indescribable loveliness that was like orange buttercream. Sara Kennedy (of R2 fame) started a campaign to bring them back. Waitrose did them for a while following that but tastes had changed and they didn't last long.

Breakfast biscuits - like a square with slightly rounded sides. Sort of crispbready. I thought I had imagined that one until I saw the image on (of all places) a jigsaw design.

Proper Black Magic with almond clusters, butterscotch covered in dark chocolate, montelimart, turkish delight and coffee creams.

Orange jubbly - frozen orange juice in the original tetrapack. You cut a hole in the bottom and drank the juice as it thawed. Original (allegedly) of the Lovely Jubbly phrase used by Del Boy in OFAH

Lucky Numbers chocolate selection. Like Roses but with numbers.

Cafe Noir biscuits - plain biscuits with a layer of the most delicious coffee flavour icing on top.

Orange juice from the milkman - quite a unique flavour

Rose hip syrup - good for flavouring milk

Blackcurrant sundaes - absolutely delicious and very moreish despite the tartness of the fruit

Any one remember the Corona man?

We used to have Naris fizz at the end of our road begins a row of garages. The guy came weekly and it was 30p for a glass 1L bottle and you got 10p back for returned bottles - my brother and his mates would climb over and grab a few empty bottle to get their 10p back!!

Cafe Noir!! Omg I'd forgotten all about these, they were the best!

Coconut Creams. I haven't seen any for years.

Birdseye frozen chocolate cream cake. With real cream & chocolate sauce. I loved these so much, but they were a rare treat. As a teen I once asked for a dozen for Xmas & got them & ate 6 before Xmas dinner & was too ill for dinner ... nor anything else for a day or so 🤢. Still didn't put me off them though 😂

Morrisons do chocolate cornflake crispy cake. It's cut into bite sized squares & comes in a clear plastic tub

I recently rediscovered Angel delight & was made up they had butterscotch too. It's my new guilty pleasure 😆

newnamethanks · 22/05/2022 07:46

Also Sainsbury's did cheese buttons loved these in the 80's my mum used to let me have a pack on the weekly shop!

lollipoprainbow · 22/05/2022 08:24

Phileas Fogg tortilla chips they were spicy and delicious. Nothing else comes close now.

lollipoprainbow · 22/05/2022 08:28

Bird's Eye French Bread Pizzas!

They still sell these in Morrisons, don't taste as nice as I remember though!
