Which one would a 16 year old girl like best?

@evilharpy Teen girls are absolutely wearing silver, favoured brands are Vivienne Westwood and Tiffany.

Fair enough, was just a thought.

KylieCharlene · 17/05/2022 16:35

I'm sure when I was 16 I'd have preferred the obvious branding.
Unfortunately those open heart styles can be bought places like Argos and few people would know it was Tiffany (if anyone) unless your dd told them- which would make her a bit uncouth.

Go for no. 2.

mindutopia · 17/05/2022 16:35

I don't particularly like either. I think at 16, I would have preferred the cash to spend however I wanted or to be taken away to do something as a treat.

This. And you could continue the turquoise them by taking her to Fortnums for tea/coffee and cake to make the day really special.

What a fabulous idea - and will take her in the newly opened Elizabeth Line to Bond Street….

I actually went and bought no2 this afternoon from Westfield as I wanted her to have something to open and given the feedback on the thread seems like it’s what a 16 year old would want - the overt branding - not personal my style but I wouldn’t have appreciated my own 52 year old mothers taste when I was 16!

Thanks all for your help in getting me to the right decision …. I will gift her this and then take her along to the shop so that she can see if she preferred something else.

Just picked her up sitting from first GCSE exam …. it was OK … only another TWENTY TWO to go. Good luck to any others out there with DC sitting exams.

It really boils down to whether she prefers labels to be seen or subtly hidden. Sounds like she’s had an awful time - I’m sure she’ll love whatever you choose

Innocenta · 17/05/2022 16:36

@evilharpy Sorry if I came off as critical! I didn't mean it that way, just speaking as someone who watches a lot of Tiktok - and as such, sometimes comes across young creators even though they're not my preferred demographic to watch. It always sticks with me when they show very expensive tastes because I was so much more basic as a teen. Grin

Innocenta · 17/05/2022 16:37

I hope she has a fab birthday, @DFOD

Wallabyone · 17/05/2022 16:53

I like the second one, it's younger and more fun-you can buy silver cloths to keep silver looking fresh if it starts to tarnish.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 17/05/2022 16:58

I think you made the right choice @DFOD! The open heart one is very dated unless she is specifically into late 90s / early 2000s fashion - it's what Bridget Jones wore in the film 21 years ago.

Narwhalelife · 17/05/2022 17:05

2nd one but I have teenage girls and know how I would ultimately be wrong in my choice 🤣🥰

Oh god no you didn't at all! I just meant I could have been way off Grin I was the same as a teen, they all seem to have designer stuff these days and I only lusted after crap from Tammy Girl!

Personally I would have loved to give her this one as it reminds me of “straighten your crown” approach when life overwhelms you.

I have both and always reach for the 1st one (not that I wear them much anymore 🙄)

the second one I wear backwards if I don’t want the Tiffany’s to be seen 🤷‍♀️

my daughter who’s younger than yours always wears the 2nd one

teletone · 17/05/2022 19:47

My 16yo dd has the 2nd one but in the double silver hearts rather than one with a coloured back. She wears it all the time and it looks great with no tarnishing. She doesn't shower in it and puts perfume on before the necklace.

TrufflesForBreakfast · 17/05/2022 19:53

Funnily enough I passed these two by my friend who has a very 'on-trend' 21 year old dd when I was selecting an 18th b'day present for my dd. Her dd said that the 'Return to Tiffany' ones are a bit naff these days, however if she likes obvious labels it will be her thing. The first one is well-known and far classier.

Ps I didn't actually end up getting dd either, but I've been VERY tempted by the first one since my research!

Purpleavocado · 17/05/2022 19:54

100% return to Tiffany, the are loads of £10 copies of the open heart (not meaning to offend anyone who has one! They are pretty but you see lots of copies)

queenie2016 · 17/05/2022 19:57

Second one

kissmelittleass · 17/05/2022 20:03

My dd picked number 2 although it might not count as a vote as she's 13! I would say number 2 as well

When I was Tiffany’s this afternoon they showed how the blue/pink heart could be worn as double silver as the colour is only on one side.

She has no expectation of what’s coming - I told her I was popping over to Sainsbury’s this evening to pick her up some PJs, slippers and a fluffy dressing gown for her birthday (winding her up) - she said sweetly that she would like a silver necklace to wear to her prom and that they do nice enough ones in Sainsbury’s…..!!

Second one

@DFOD That's so sweet!

Davros · 17/05/2022 21:10

The second one

Shesaysso · 17/05/2022 21:12

2nd one for a 16 year old

kitcat15 · 17/05/2022 21:16

The second one is really chavvy……looks cheap

hellsbells99 · 17/05/2022 21:21

I bought my DD the mini version of the 2nd one
www.tiffany.co.uk/jewelry/necklaces-pendants/return-to-tiffany-mini-double-heart-tag-pendant-GRP06366/
and she had the matching bracelet for her 18th.
She still wears them now and she is in her mid 20s
