Which one would a 16 year old girl like best?

I love turquoise so 2nd for me.

evilharpy · 17/05/2022 14:37

I prefer the first, but does she definitely wear silver? Most of the girls around that age I know or see out and about these days seem to be wearing gold, and most of the costume jewellery in places like H&M seems to be gold. I'd just want to be sure she would actually want and wear it.

Penguinevere · 17/05/2022 14:40

The first, it’s more versatile. I think the second one is more casual and she’ll grow out of it.

The second one is nicer, the first is a bit bland and boring.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 17/05/2022 15:03

Second. I’ve just brought my dd who is 16 the same but with the pink heart. She’ll wear it to prom.
she’s been asking for it for years. I think the whole point is that it’s Tiffany and as much as an adult would like the more discreet open heart a 16yr at old wants one that screams Tiffany.

PeaceLily2000 · 17/05/2022 15:05

I think number 2. Other PP's have said it's too obviously Tiffany but at 16 if I had something from Tiffany I'd want it to be obvious where it was from.
I also like the pop of colour on number 2, more fun IMO :)

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/05/2022 15:10

I'd take her to Tiffany honestly. The day will mean more than the piece.

And a PS5 is bloody expensive. Do people whine on about their kids having those? And their value will drop like a rock, this won't.

dottiedodah · 17/05/2022 15:11

I like the first one .Very classic and pretty .Just right for a 16 year old !

FleurDeLizz · 17/05/2022 15:13

The first one isn’t classic it’s dated. I would give her a budget and let her choose

Legoninjago1 · 17/05/2022 15:14

First one. I gave the same one to my niece at a similar age.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 17/05/2022 15:14

I think the first one too but would she like to choose herself?
it could be a day out or she could just look online?
You could give her a couple of links to choose between?
I would def go less branded and more classic- she will still wear the first in 10 years- not so sure about the second?

Girle · 17/05/2022 15:22

Lovely gift for a special birthday. My 16 year old self would have loved the second one. First one lovely too but imo not as glam.

prettylittlethingss · 17/05/2022 15:27

The second one for sure.

AverageJoan · 17/05/2022 15:32

I think the second one

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/05/2022 15:39

Notajogger · 17/05/2022 12:39

First one, but letting her choose something would be best.
Or putting the money in a pension for her. Much more useful particularly for that generation who will be financially pretty stuffed!!

Put it in her pension. She does have a pension @DFOD?😆

babycornforteaplease · 17/05/2022 15:52

I got the first one for my 16th birthday and I've worn it every single day since, I am now 38!

Jarstastic · 17/05/2022 16:07

If she likes visible branding the second. If she doesn’t (I never did) the first.

I had an open heart one but stopped wearing it after the Bridget Jones film when knock offs were everywhere.

Wow at the prices now. I found my old one In a drawer a couple of years ago and ebayed for a bit more than the original receipt, it was under £100. No wonder the lady who bought it gave me such great feedback!

BellePeppa · 17/05/2022 14:26

I think taking her and choosing it would make it all the more special if that’s doable. I prefer the first but maybe at 16 they like a bit of branding on their things? It’s a lovely gesture to your daughter who must have had some difficult days.

This. And you could continue the turquoise them by taking her to Fortnums for tea/coffee and cake to make the day really special.

Neither.

Budget range Tiffany stuff is rubbish I'm afraid so please don't waste your money. They save their good quality stuff for people that can afford it, the cheap stuff is just that, cheap.

User3568975431146 · 17/05/2022 16:24

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago about people having breakages and Tiffany refusing to fix or replace. Have a search because it's worth a read.

Oh, go and piss on someone else’s chips. There was no need for that.

Innocenta · 17/05/2022 16:28

@DFOD Get the second one for a just turning sixteen year old! Far more current and in style for her age group. And definitely better to have it for her to open on the day.

Innocenta · 17/05/2022 16:30

@FleurDeLizz Budget is great for slightly older, but sixteen is so young still - magical to get a 'special present'.

@evilharpy Teen girls are absolutely wearing silver, favoured brands are Vivienne Westwood and Tiffany.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 17/05/2022 16:32

I think the first one now is a bit dated.

Maybe let her chose an item up to a certain budget?
