I prefer the first but most teenagers I know like the more obvious branding on things so maybe the second for a teen.

You probably know her taste better than us though.

Pbbananabagel · 17/05/2022 13:42

Second one OP, if you’re going to have a Tiffany piece that’s the one you want as a teenager, the first is just a bit basic.

isitxmasalready · 17/05/2022 13:43

i think the second one for a 16yr old - feels more suited to a younger person that the first. Sure you could always exchange it if she would prefer the other one.

Definitely 1st. What a beautiful special 16th present. Ignore bitter posters above …

Verite1 · 17/05/2022 13:47

I would go for first.

prediction500 · 17/05/2022 13:48

I think the first one

Blossomandbee · 17/05/2022 13:52

It's going to be personal choice. I would buy the second one for myself as I like the turquoise on it. The first one is maybe a younger style, but I think it was quite popular in the early 00's so could be dated now?
It depends whether she wants it to be obviously branded or not too.
Tiffany used to to do a small silver Return to Tiffany's heart, I wonder if that might be a compromise between the two.

CoastalWave · 17/05/2022 13:53

Is Tiffany still a 'thing' for teenagers?

Why will it make her spoilt?! I got a car for my 17th - still a very grateful person! (and the car was £2k - back in 1990!!)

Drame · 17/05/2022 13:56

16 year old me had the 2nd one. Loved it. Wore it every day. There are lots of cheap imitations of the 1st one.

This has to be a joke
No wonder kids grow up so entitled and spoilt

Cheaper than an iPad, games console, etc which many people don't bat have eyelid at others buying their children.

You can certainly buy the components for these necklaces for a great deal less than Tiffany's prices showing here. Buy a silver chain and get the heart charms to go on them. I have also heard Tiffany's are not very helpful if their bought items get broken either - i.e. regarding repairs. It is the turquoise coloured box/name one is paying for.

Thinkbiglittleone · 17/05/2022 14:03

I'm not a fan of the "return to" Tiffany so I would go for the second one.

Nothingfallingdowntoday · 17/05/2022 14:04

Lots of teens and others still love Tiffany.

if she is in this camp I would say no 2 as it is more iconic. My girls each got to pick a piece of jewellery for their 16th. 2 of the 3 chose your no2 but one picked the pink enamel.

They still wear them now and plan to give to their kids at the right time…so sweet.

Enjoy being able to do something like this.

User839516 · 17/05/2022 14:05

As a grown woman I prefer the first one and agree it would go with more outfits / be more timeless but 16yo me would definitely have preferred the second one!

JenniferWooley · 17/05/2022 14:08

I have the first one & have done for about 20 years.

DD2(20) can often be found with it around her neck but I agree with others what is more her style.

As for those making spoilt/entitled comments giving expensive gifts do not make a child spoilt or entitled FFS like a PP I got a car for my 17th & at 43 I still say putting me through my test & buying my first car (total cost upwards of £5k it was a long time ago lessons were cheap) was the best thing my parents ever did for me & I am extremely grateful to them for that.

Staffy1 · 17/05/2022 14:10

The second one brought to mind dog tags, (probably just me being odd), so the first one for me, but it all depends on the 16 year old, they are not all the same.

Chihuahuapower · 17/05/2022 14:10

Please do not feel like you have to justify your gift! Ignore those comments!

I like the first, but I had one similar and it was forever turning upside down, looking like a bum!😂

I think the second is more 'Tiffany's' for a 16 year old.

QueenWatevraWaNabi · 17/05/2022 14:10

Or putting the money in a pension for her

Please don't do this 🤣🤣

For a 16yo, I prefer the second - or the Return to Tiffany necklace with the key that's online.

CamdenLurker · 17/05/2022 14:17

Definitely the second, the first is appealing to middle aged women, but 16 year olds not so much.

RedMake88 · 17/05/2022 14:21

Personally neither only cos I see Tiffany as a bit naff (at this level) and very 00s!!

are you near the jewellery quarter in Birmingham? Worth a trip to see what you might be able to get.

Theforest · 17/05/2022 14:23

Depends on her style. A bit middle of the road blandness despite the price

Qwill · 17/05/2022 14:25

I’m not a fan of either really, I would probably go for something more classic so she can wear it forever. If I had to pick, I would say the first one, the second looks a bit naff. I think it would be better to go shopping with her so she can get something she really likes and you can make a day of it.

BellePeppa · 17/05/2022 14:26

I think taking her and choosing it would make it all the more special if that’s doable. I prefer the first but maybe at 16 they like a bit of branding on their things? It’s a lovely gesture to your daughter who must have had some difficult days.

Lonecatwithkitten · 17/05/2022 14:27

My DD had picked out the second one as something she liked a couple of months before her 16th Birthday as we wandered through selfridges.
I bought it from the website and had it engraved with her initials. It's not something she wears every day, but comes out on special occasions.
