Which one would a 16 year old girl like best?

The first one personally. Can't stand visible branding, so tacky.

Orchidflower1 · 17/05/2022 12:32

Sorry to hear your dd has been through such a tough time @DFOD

It’s hard to choose isn’t it. Could you colour print pictures of both items, putting them inside a jewellery box so she has something to open on her actual birthday and then plan to go and get the one she prefers on the next Saturday after her birthday? That way she gets exactly what she wants if you want it to be a surprise. Plus going to get it could be an experience itself if you add lunch/ drinks/ mock tails ?

ButtockUp · 17/05/2022 12:35

I agree that taking her with you to choose would be lovely and make an occasion of it.
She'll remember it more fondly too.

I think the heart pendant will have more meaning and she might love it because it came from you not everything has to be chosen by them, I'm sorry she lost her friend my own dd lost her friend the same way and its heartbreaking.

Notajogger · 17/05/2022 12:39

First one, but letting her choose something would be best.
Or putting the money in a pension for her. Much more useful particularly for that generation who will be financially pretty stuffed!!

Thanks all.

I also personally prefer the first one but not sure what she would like. I could buy her either and she can exchange it or I could take her down to the shop to choose herself instead? Just wanted a gift for the day and she is in the middle of GCSEs so timing not too convenient for a trip into London.

Yes she does like Tiffany.

She is far from entitled although is very aware of her privilege with the work she does on social justice and volunteering.

She lost her friend to suicide in December and I am grateful that she is putting one foot in front of the other.

It’s a lovely gift, OP. I’d go for the first one if you can’t get to London.

This has to be a joke
No wonder kids grow up so entitled and spoilt

Wow - kinda rude.
OP asked a genuine question and none of us have any idea what her DD is like!

OP - I prefer the first one. Hope your DD has a fab birthday.

Neverreturntoathread · 17/05/2022 12:42

I think the first one, the second looks to me more like a present you’d fet from a boyfriend with something engraved on it.

Littlepaws18 · 17/05/2022 12:48

I have the second one but the necklace became tarnished over time. I would go for the first.

SpritzingAperol · 17/05/2022 12:49

I think the 2nd one. Think it looks more current.

Ignore the misery brigade on here. Hope she has a lovely day.

vinoandbrie · 17/05/2022 12:56

I like the first one, and hope she has a lovely special birthday 🎉

CointreauVersial · 17/05/2022 12:57

Lovely necklaces, and what a sweet gesture!

Coincidentally, I'm about to buy one for DD1's 21st - she prefers the Return to Tiffany ones (2nd type), but I adore anything Elsa Peretti. I'm pretty sure they offer easy exchanges if you order online.

rnsaslkih · 17/05/2022 12:59

I think the first one is more versatile.

The second one is very different as the branding is obvious with the bright blue. But many people like that.

You don’t have to justify to anyone why you are buying your dd a nice necklace. And anyway it sounds like she more than deserves it.

BungleandGeorge · 17/05/2022 13:10

Personally I prefer the first but I think the second style is popular with younger people!

Glittertwins · 17/05/2022 13:15

My DD has the top one. The chain is very fine and I'm forever unpicking it with needles even though she is careful putting it back in the pouch.

LeftFootForward · 17/05/2022 13:19

I definitely prefer the open heart necklace OP. It's lovely simple design that I think will age much better as your daughter gets older. As a PP said, it's a classic design.

I really don't like 'branded' items like the second one as I think they are bit tacky tbh.

Change123today · 17/05/2022 13:22

My daughter has the second one she loves it and wears it all the time and has done the last 3 years!

but it is preference she isn’t a usually label type person but that’s the one she wanted!

SheWoreYellow · 17/05/2022 13:25

Littlepaws18 · 17/05/2022 12:48

I have the second one but the necklace became tarnished over time. I would go for the first.

It’s solid silver, should clean with silver cleaner.

SheWoreYellow · 17/05/2022 13:26

I think the first is for someone much older. It says sensible job and workwear from Next to me.

luckylavender · 17/05/2022 13:26

I think 2 is more standard Tiffany

thisplaceisweird · 17/05/2022 13:28

Definitely 2nd one for a 16 year old. The first one is a bit outdated.

CanIbeRio · 17/05/2022 13:30

DD has just been gifted a Tiffany necklace from her Nan and Gramp....they are both poorly and wanted her to have something from them in case they get too ill to be at home and have to go into care 🥺. I was really sceptical about it, thought it'd be a big waste of money, but knowing how much she wanted one, we went for it. Got her the heart shaped dog tag with the little key charm... it really is beautiful. Lovely and solid, oozes quality. Really worth it. I'm sure she'll love whichever one you buy.

MozerellaSalad · 17/05/2022 13:31

Does she like them?
Tiffany are very much of 20 years ago- ie dated

Someone bough my DD a bracelet- she has worn it about twice. I am sure that it cost a lot of money.

MozerellaSalad · 17/05/2022 13:32

The same person bought me one like the 1st one. I have never worn it.

AffIt · 17/05/2022 13:37

BaronessBomburst · 17/05/2022 12:01

I think the first one is nicer.
However at 16 I would have hated them both; I was a Goth.

This - are either of them actually her style?

I was an indie kid at that age and would sooner have chewed my own leg off than been seen wearing something like this (although Older Me likes the first one).
