I live 6 miles from a major British city and…

…we don’t have Deliveroo. Nor do we have Uber Eats. The Just Eat app tells me that I’m able to order a curry from a nearby town and…that’s it.

I LONG to order a kebab/burrito/Vietnamese/Thai/something delicious for dinner, but I’m stuck living in the 1980s.

I feel your pain. We are in the deepest darkest SW and UberEats and Deliveroo are not a thing here too. The local Indian does deliver but that's the only choice we have.

I’m in a British city roughly 1.5 miles from Mac Donald’s but apparently that’s too far for ubereats or Deliveroo

I always boggle at the threads on here when people talk about ordering takeaway over the phone, like it’s a thing of the past. It’s not!!

I guess Deliveroo make their money from towns and cities and don’t need to consider those of us in the (not even) sticks.

You’re not missing anything. I’ve tried deliveroo twice; both times the food was cold when it arrived.

We have nothing here in my part of the Midlands either!

Report it on the deliveroo app and you'll get your money back

None here either, some of the takeaways do deliver but none of the app based ones. No MacDs, KFC, BK within 10 miles either and we are quite a large town.

You can pick up takeaways yourself you know. Some even have on-line ordering where you can choose a time to pick it up. We are 15 miles from the nearest takeaway and have always done our own pick ups.

EspeciallyDistracted · 16/05/2022 21:42

We always pick up our own too but it isn't an option if you don't have a car or live close by or if you are a single parent with children in bed.

I'm in Cumbria. We have one Chinese takeaway that delivers but it's the worst one in the town. We have two pizza places that deliver. That's it.

I feel your pain.

I'm amazed when you go to big cities and you can even order coffee and cake deliveries. Blows my mind!

Ah I'm so glad you said this I felt like I was the last person on the planet not to have sushi and pho and souvlaki at their fingertips!

Even just pizza maccies and Nando's!

Live in a village of 6000 3 miles from a market town of 6000 and 4 miles from a town of 85,000

Wonder actually how much coverage deliverio has as in % of population?

Oh yes Starbucks and greggs! On deliveroo! Confused

Same here. I live in between 3 major cities but we have no Deliveroo and no Uber Eats. I can get a delivery from the local Indian, our Chinese is collection only.

I can't get delivery from work which is four miles away and takes about six minutes 😂

My sister used to live 1.5 miles closer to town than me and could get all sorts yet I was stuck with one or two choices.

Until last year, I lived between zone 1-2 in London and never ordered a deliveroo, just eats etc. They add on additional charges! Both in London, and at my new house, I still have a shoe box of menus for local restaurants that deliver- Thai, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, kebebs etc. Have you actually checked that your local doesn't haven't their own delivery service?

EvenStrangerThings03 · 16/05/2022 21:48

We have Deliveroo and Uber eats but have reverted to ordering directly with the takeaway now because it’s such a hassle any time there is anything wrong with the order, the takeaway don’t care and tell you to go through the app and the app just want to refund you, which would be fine if I wasn’t so damn hungry! 😂

We don't have deliveroo or Uber eats but all of our local places still do takeaways, we just have to order direct?

I'm 12 miles from central London - only local takeaways on my Deliveroo - not a Maccies or any other chain to be seen Sad

Yeah you can, but a delivery is much easier! Especially on nights where my husband is away (he works away for weeks at a time) and the young children are in bed.
Not having Deliveroo isn’t a massive problem in life, but would still be nice to have!

How odd!! I've never really thought about this - to those of you who can't get Uber/Deliveroo, does that encourage you to try and cook takeaways to recreate them?

Tbh these apps just suck money out of you & im guilty of ordering Starbucks instead of walking for 10 mins.

4 miles from a city with a population of 200,000. The only place that will deliver is a pizza place in a village 15 minutes away, but you have to ring up to order (and it's not v good!!).

Personally not really… I mean we do cook curries etc but not in an attempt to recreate a takeaway, it’s just a meal we cook.
cant imagine having Starbucks delivered, it seems to decadent! 😂
