Me? No I'm not.

Oh you meant your family but not you

I get the sense most on here do vote Labour even though for some reason Labour supporter phrase went down badly

did everyone vote for Corbyn last time?

DuncinToffee · 17/05/2022 18:06

54 MP's (across the parties) are under investigation for sexual misconduct, maybe the arrest is part of it?

ClaudineClare · 17/05/2022 18:06

Flipping heck. Wonder who it is?

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2022 18:06

"The rights of disabled people is a huge issue."

They have been absolutely pummelled over the last decade. We have a disabled teenager. Our closest friends similarly have disabled children and young adults. Cuts to services (education, health, training courses, access to benefits) have had devastating impact. I can't talk about it without getting very emotional - so I won't! But I feel very strongly.

No doubt Twitter will soon tell us. The Commons leaks like a sieve.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2022 18:08

And so you should. So you should.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2022 18:08

Sorry, that was to not. It makes me so angry too.

You said hardcore Labour voters and people pointed out that many are more floating voters.

Re voting Labour, no use in my blue county, so no I didn’t vote for Corbyn.

You?

I voted for a party marsha and against a local MP (Dorries) .

It is not sinful to support Corbyn, however.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2022 18:11

Good grief, George Galloway was once my MP. There's more hardcore than Corbyn!

MarshaBradyo · 17/05/2022 18:12

Duncin I didn’t actually I said vocal

as in over time I’ve recognised names on mn and would associate many on this thread with the left or Labour

it wasn’t actually an insult but then I have thought about it, maybe there are more posters on this thread who didn’t vote Corbyn or don’t vote Labour

Life costs you £538 MORE a month if you are disabled. Imagine this.

4.5 million children live in poverty. 43% of these live in a household where someone is disabled.

These are huge issues.

<rummages about for soapbox>

Shift over on that soapbox. I am a carer for my DH who is disabled. We are not rich, but we have enough of a cushion to protect us (though the fuel hike will be very challenging as it is for everyone). Even so, the extra costs associated with disability are huge. We will need to make some serious adaptations to our house if we are to stay here in the years to come, which don't come cheap and will eat up most of our life savings. Then there is the practical side of everyday living and the absolute abominable lack of proper accessibility.

saliwales2022 · 17/05/2022 18:14

I am very disappointed that women and very intelligent women, don't know that the Labour party support LGBT+ and Stonewall. I have no issue at all with genuine Trans people. What I mean is the people with gender dysphoria. As far as the Labour party goes, they always seem to jump on a bandwagon.

SueSaid · 17/05/2022 18:15

"The rights of disabled people is a huge issue."

'They have been absolutely pummelled over the last decade'

We have a relative who received an increase in Pip from DLA. Have just has their sg esa increased too. Of course this won't be the same for everyone but to say 'they' have been pummelled over the last decade is not true for everyone.

Sending you Flowers. My situation is a bit different as it is my DH rather than my child who is disabled, but it is really fucking hard. People have no idea. No idea.

MarshaBradyo · 17/05/2022 18:19

You?

I’m a floating voter and have voted for both

the Blair article was interesting because research highlighted a sub group - strong Remainers who were put off Labour by Corbyn I can’t remember the figure but could find it, it was a fair size

The whole thing made me feel politically homeless and I very much welcomed Starmer as a shift back to centre left

but I need some things addressed before Labour get my vote

Tell that to very single disability rights group.

Or are they the 'true disabled'? (T. May ca 2013)

DuncinToffee · 17/05/2022 18:19

The Met Police have confirmed a man was in custody over allegations dating back to between 2002 and 2009.

A Conservative spokesperson said the MP concerned had been asked by the Chief Whip "not to attend the parliamentary estate while an investigation is ongoing".

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2022 18:20

People were also turned on to Labour by Corbyn, young people especially.

I spoilt my paper in 2019 after a lifetime of voting Labour. Not that I count because they weigh the Tory votes here, if I lived in a marginal I’d probably have held my nose and voted as I always have, regardless of Corbyn.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2022 18:24

I think I win the most left wing person on the thread award. Not sure why it matters though.

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2022 18:25

You see that's where my anger about the fast track family/friends contracts worth millions or MPs (or peers) lobbying for client companies comes in.

The hospitals and schools that could have been built. The services that could have been provided.

But never mind Johnson got his £50k of wallpaper from a friendly donor (who I'm sure wanted nothing in return).

Janii - pleased for your family member but we don't have that experience at all and I've had 13 years trying fathom the labyrinthine systems.

Claudine - it is bloody hard and sometimes I suspect that is a deliberate policy. FlowersBrew

You don’t have to engage if you are not interested.

I am as I realised I may have made incorrect assumptions
